I came here because I lost an implant (they aren't as permanent as believed when I had the original…read moreput in) and eventually had it replaced by the very skilled Dr. Tim Novak. I do some serious vetting of any medical professional but especially surgeons, Novak's credentials and experience are excellent, he's an academic oral surgeon. Almost all dental specialists are well trained, there are high standards for such professions, the real variance in practice are staff. The scheduling staff here are comfortable with telephone, texts, email, which for some reason is pretty rare in medical-dental circles. Their COVID-19 precautions are state of the science. Their prices are high but commensurate. Most of the time I am offended when young staff workers assume a disrespectful level of familiarity with me, manners have all but disappeared in the delivery of healthcare. However the surgeon's assistant somehow pulled off a sincere informal exchange from the start (like I was her grandfather or something, and that was the age difference) which actually made me feel a little more comfortable. The nicest touch was although she competently executed the surgeon's orders during the procedure, she also protected my dignity by gently and thoughtfully wiping my saliva dribbling out of my mouth. I'm having a senior moment and can't recall her name, but I'm guessing from the chairside manner of Dr. Novak, the staff here is just like that. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing pleasant about oral surgery.

WARNING: before you schedule your consultation for surgery, ask how many MONTHS you have to wait…read morefor it. The people I met seemed competent; just very not forth coming with information. It seems to be run as individual surgeons, instead of a group practice.

She was doing her job but wasn't friendly at all. The doctor came in all was fine up until the procedure started. No one was saying a word about what they were going to do next. I felt like an animal with them grabbing at me and not saying anything. The main thing that happened was during the numbing process I felt a needle where it wasn't supposed to be. I'm not sure if it clipped on me or a nerve was shocked in some way. I brought this up to the doctor and he kept saying I wasn't listening to him. And that I needed to stop crying, the assistant also was saying this to me. All I wanted to know is if he poked me there and how long til I can feel my chin and lower lip again. This question wasn't answered. This whole situation was handled horribly by the staff. Along with that the assistant from earlier started talking to my driver and I was very friendly to her but not to me. It was a horrible experience.
