I hired Bruno DaSilva of Modern Rust (Formerly One Stop Body Shop) in March of 2021 to purchase and fully restore a 1969 VW Westalia Camper Van. He purchased the van for me and I paid $15,000. He quoted the restoration including body and paint, restored motor and transmission, add A/C, new canvas camper top, interior, custom cabinets, new steering wheel, Bluetooth stereo and speakers, etc at $20,000 and I paid him $13,000 deposit. He then agreed on a new dash for additional $2500 and expedited completion date of June 28 2021 for additional $2500. Once he missed the due date he only agreed to talk about progress if in person. When meetings were upheld ( some meetings missed) he would have excuses regarding employee troubles, and inability to get subcontractors to do their jobs and inability to get parts. When any questions were posed he would begin yelling, cussing and threatening stating that I was the ONLY customer who had a problem and that it was my fault that the job couldn't get done because I took too much of his time. This happened at least five different occasions and on the last occasion, he told me he was "firing " me and would not finish the bus nor refund my money. He told me to come pick up the project and that he would make sure to "fulfill the invoice" of the job. When I came to receive the bus ,4/14/23, verbally harassed my helper and myself. The body/paint job was incomplete. He didn't return numerous expensive parts (bumpers, grill, interiors) to the project and to "fulfill" the contract he just threw into the inside of bus an old junk engine and transmission and A/c unit that belong to a different car (VW beetle, type 1). Another professional has looked at what I received stating that I have a total of $17000 in poorly partially painted parts. Unfortunately Im not the first or last victim. Ha so funny. He thinks because he lied to the judge that it makes me look bad. Facts or my brother had passed away and I left my folder in another car so I only had my phone for court. Here or facts Bruno does crap work. I went to pick up my car and found a car charger and lottery tickets and a bill of his that he paid while driving my car and empty gas tank and more miles on my car. (( WARNING )) September14th,2001 Modern rust was a local shop in my neighborhood. I live blocks away. I've always supported local businesses. My motor was shot in my truck & I found a motor online. I just needed a shop to install it. I called for a quote. Bruno the owner told me he can find one cheaper& he can have it installed in my truck by September28th in 14 days from now. So I said yes, let's do it. September 28th Comes and goes.... Bruno tells me they installed the Motor that he bought & it was bad & they are sending a second motor under warranty. I said fine, please just get it done. I called a few times during the (month) of October to check in. Still not finished... On October 26th, (( 29days )) late.... After the due date of September 28th. He tells me the new motor is under the hood just not finished installed. He actually tells me has to no time for my truck & he has to finish other vehicles before mine. It's going yo be a few weeks, that would be mid November??!?!? !!! I said you are an actual month past my due date, please finish my truck. So then He started being extremely rude, FYI I'm a paying customer. Enough is enough. I said, Look I just want my truck finished & done with. Bruno then throws a temper tantrum like a child & then tells me, that he wasn't going to finish my install. That I need someone else to finish the job, that they modern rust can't do it!!!! He's had my truck for 45 days,& couldn't get it done! 45 days!! !!!!!! I'm so mad& trying to be calm and evaluate the situation. So Unbelievable. What a head ache! Then Bruno told me he's putting the new motor in the bed of the truck, & putting it outside. If I don't have it off his lot in a couple days he's having it towed to the junkyard. Wait I thought the motor was installed???? Are you kidding me? ? I ask you? You are the next customer.... What business owner does that? Do you actually want to work with someone like that? Or work on your vehicle? So I get to his shop,of course he's not there.. It ( looks & seams ) like my original motor is in my truck, it looks like he never took it out. So it seems that the bad motor story,& warranty 2nd motor bs story was just a story to bye more time.... Hmmmmm Wow, mind blown!!! Bruno then puts the new motor that I bought leaning in the bed of my truck. No wrapping or protection, not tied down not on a pallet, not secure, nothing... just sitting there. Really professional! Really professional!! Again I ask you the next customer... What business owner does that? Do you want to do business with a shop like that?? Do you? I hope and prey that I never do business with a shop like this again. His teams incompetence, & lack of management, couldn't do a 15 hour job in 45 days. Bruno's shop, modern rust , Failed to complete the task! So then I have it towed to a actual motor shop. Who then tells me modern rust damaged my radiator, broke 2 motor mounts, & broke my bolts on the starter. Its almost comical now. The new motor shop that I had my truck towed to did the complete engine swap in 12 hours. Old one out & new one in, In 12 hours!! True professionals They had my truck finished the very next day!! Later I call Modern Rust for the receipt for the new motor, just in case something is wrong. He tells me no. I can not have a receipt. I bought my 2015 Corvette in at the end of October 2022 and finally took possession in May of 2023, after demanding it back. He was to perform a small repair to my front bumper and splitter. Insurance company estimated the work to be done in "about 7 business days". After taking delivery I found a poorly completed job. His shop marred the finish on my splitter where an attempt was made fix damage he had done to my bumper and actually ruined the film he applied to the bumper. He substituted a protective film, which he put on to repair the original one that was a complete wrap, with a product that covered on 2/3 of bumper and omitted the splitter film all together. When I got my car home I found over spray over all top facing surfaces, from failure to simply cover the car and needs to be repaired as well. Upon further inspection I found contaminates in the paint he applied. I then bought it to my dealership to get an oil change and they alerted me to the fact that parts were missing and they advised me not to drive it till the parts were back on the car. I now will it to get it to a reputable shop for them to repair the poor work he did. So what brought me to his shop you ask? After reading the reviews, which I later researched and found to be from friends and family and along with his smooth talking I felt comfortable leaving it with him. He assured me of a speedy repair and that he works with many insurance companies and will also bring the car back to "better than new" shape and he will be taking into consideration any diminished value when arguing for all parts to be replaced, rather then repaired. I have always maintained and kept my car in showroom or better condition and Mr. DaSilva also noted it's incredible condition and assured me he would bring it back to the same. So after some email exchanges he originally told me he would be sending me a $500 check to compensate me, which was never done and then he offered to buy my car from me for a price $10,000 lower than its book value for retail purchase. Would I recommend his shop? NEVER. He is a smooth talker, promising you anything and delivering nothing. I am now needing to recover the costs to redo his poorly completed work. A quick search of court claims against him was fairly extensive and I should have done my due diligence before entrusting him with the car I loved so much. Absolutely the worse place I have ever dealt with. Took my car in for an estimate, was given a drop off date and an estimated completion time of four days. Emailed them after five days for a progress report, no response, called on the sixth day, got a promise of a call back later that day. Called frustrated later that day and was told I would get a call back soon. Finally went down the next morning to check on the progress. There was no work done on the car. The manager was rude and insulting when questioned on why there was no reply. He started to use foul language, I have it on camera, and gave me my money back and told me to get the f**k out. They had disassembled the interior door and left it in that condition. read more

Stay away, I got robbed. I had my Jeep painted, while I admit the paint job itself was pretty good, I paid for stuff I never received and they did damage they said they would take care of but never have. I made the mistake of picking it up before it was finished, they called to say they were done and I needed to pick up by Friday. When I got there to pick it up, I found that the lift kit they were supposed to put on was not done. The owner said the part was not available until next week, at this point they already had my jeep for 1 month, so they obviously waited to order the lift kit. I had already paid for the lift kit, the owner said he would have his parts manager call me. They had broken 1 of the fog lamps, one of my sun visors and cracked one my fender flares while disassembling or during reassembly. I was assured they were going to fix when the parts came in. After I drove home, I found a bunch of electrical issues, I came straight back and they were able to fix a few problems. I had to take to a jeep dealership to have the rest of the electrical issues fixed which cost me several hundred dollars. I also paid to have my seats dyed per the owners suggestion, I was attempting to get rid of the bad pattern Jeep put in the back seat, and I had a tear in one of the front seats and to match the new paint. When I picked up the pattern was still there, the rip was still there, all I had received was partly dyed seats, for a little more money I could have had all new seat covers put in, what a waste of money I continued to call and stop by the shop, at least 10 phone calls and I was told every time the parts manager would call me. Never ever received a return phone call. If I ever receive a return call and they fix the issues or give me my money back for parts paid for or the damages I would be glad to remove the post. Bottom line, go somewhere else. read more

This body shop and its owner are so far from professional. They make promises and do not keep any. They had my vehicle for a total of five plus weeks and and were unable to complete the job. I don't know what they are doing in this shop, but it is not repaired the automobile you have paid them to do. I was told on at least six occasions that my vehicle was ready or would be ready by a certain time, and it was not. There are paint drip marks all over the vehicle, certain dents were not repaired, the vehicle was not detailed (as I was told it was), it was not even vacuumed out. The stickers on the windows (which I asked to be removed) and which I was told by the owner Bruno were removed, were still on the vehicle when I picked it up. I made numerous trips to the shop, only to find that they had done almost nothing. I would never ever ever take a vehicle to this shop again. They are totally unreliable. read more
