This salon is tucked away on the side/rear of a plain brown building at the intersection of 2nd street Pike and Upper Holland Road. I've passed it many times and never realized a salon was there. But, tried it on the strength of the Yelp reviews and found it with the help of GPS. Great first visit! Everyone getting service was asked to wash hands upon entering, and a sign on the door reminded that masks were required. Clear front and side barriers are in use at the manicure stations (side only for pédicures). Plastic Disposable inserts were used for the foot baths. Service was by appointment only. We were greeted upon arrival and they got down to business immediately. The nail technicians were thorough and did excellent work with cuticles , exfoliating, etc...only moisturizing was a bit lacking, in my case. Cuticle and nail clipping tools used were from a sealed plastic package, but other items, like scrubbing brushes, were not. I was able to lean my chair back to enjoy the massage chair while getting my pedicure. There are plenty of polish options, and the design my daughter requested was executed well. read more

I got my nails done here two days ago and this is what my nails look like today. This was truly the worst gel manicure I have EVER gotten. This place has a lot of good reviews so I had high hopes and came here shortly after getting engaged. I am so disappointed. The lady who did my nails got it all over my cuticles and when I asked her to fix it she barely did. It looked horrible at the end and I knew it would peel immediately, which it did. I'm actually writing this on behalf of both locations, Richboro and Southampton. I have been coming here for about two years and come here religiously. I went to the Richboro location until they open in Southampton, and then switched to Southampton due to proximity to my house. I have never had a bad experience getting my nails done here. If you have a color from Pinterest or one that you like, if they don't have that exact one in stock, they will color match and get you one that looks just like it. Seth is absolutely amazing at having a good eye for what colors look good. I always call and make an appointment, but I never have a preference for nail artist, because I have never been disappointed with anybody that I have worked with. At the Southampton location, it's really nice to be greeted by Katie especially when she knows you by name. I often come in with an intricate design, so if the artist I am working with, isn't able to work with that design, they all work as a team and help each other so that the customer leaves happy. I always post my nail designs on my Instagram, and I have about five students of mine that now go to Modern Nails, Southampton, and a friend that is going to be trying the location out as well. I had one negative experience here years ago, but decided to bring my daughter for a $25 refill 4 days ago. Was told she needs a new set. Walked out paying $90 including tip. Ok, whatever . My child wakes up in middle of the night today with her entire NAIL off along with the acrylic and some nail bed. Have never heard of this, can't even find a single thing on the internet about it. Taking her to urgent care today. I called the salon to let them know and ask what could possibly have caused this, the unphased gentleman that sits at the front told me to come in to have it fixed. Sir her entire nail is off ! She has to see a doctor. We are all flabbergasted and freaked out and hoping she'll be ok. I took my mom here who had never had a gel manicure before. Unfortunately we weren't sitting together so it was too late before I saw how awful they were. A girl in the front at a lone table did her nails and she clearly was new and had zero experience. Her manicure looked terrible, polish pooled and cured around each cuticle. I had to soak them off for her at home after we left because of how bad they looked. There are a few amazing nail techs here, but unfortunately between this and the 45 min wait as well after an appointment time is just not worth it when there is another salon on every other block. read more

Wanted to update my review of Modern Nails since I've been coming here for the last 2 years. I want to start off by complimenting the owners on their smooth (at least to me) reopening after the COVID shutdown. They renovated the salon and it looks beautiful. There are plastic partitions everywhere, both to separate you from the nail technician as well as on the sides to separate you from other patrons. Since the tables at this salon are not crowded, there is no fear of being to close to others. In the pedicure section, they have curtains between the chairs, again here, the chairs are pretty far apart from each other. My love for Modern Nails grows each day. I've been going to my regular technician Long for over a year now and cannot express show much I appreciate him. His attention to detail is unparalleled. I've never had a manicure (I get dip powder) stay for longer than 2 weeks, let alone over 3 weeks here! I do not know what his magic is but it is real. He always listens to me and creates the shape that I want. Love chatting with him and the other girls in general. Everyone is always friendly. Best part, I have my appointment, I come in and done in 45/50 min. In fact when my sister was visiting from LA I took her here and she raved and raved about her gen mani, saying that she has a hard time finding someone for the price of Modern Nails that would do as great of a job back home. I CAN GO NOWHERE ELSE. I live in Philly and have tried multiple salons and no one can do it like Modern Nails. I've been coming here since I was 13 and it has gone through different management but I think it's never been good as now. Kate and her co workers never do me wrong. Gel manis are always perfection and last 3-4 weeks for me! Pedi's are also nice; i love their massage chairs. Definitely recommend an appointment, this place gets pretty busy. Don't stroll in here and get all sassy without an appointment, the workers here really respect appointments and always respect customers with appointments first. I appreciate this salon for being quick and efficient! However, I did not get what I wanted. To begin, they glued the nails crooked, they then cut them too short, so they had to glue a nail on top to get my desired length. After that, they shaped my nails completely wrong, then proceeded to give me gel when I wanted powder. My nail design came out horrible! read more

My daughter (14 years old) went in today for a full set and a pedicure. Somehow she paid over $100 that's not including a tip! Looking now at their website I can't figure out what they charged her for because even the most expensive services for both don't add up. Obviously they saw a kid so they figured they could charge her whatever they wanted. We definitely won't be back and I will make sure my friends & family in the area know to take their daughters somewhere else... there's no shortage of nail salons around. Jada is such a sweetheart. I normally don't like to get my nails done while I'm out of town, but this was an emergency and I'm so glad I stumbled upon this shop. The shop is in a little center on the corner, and Modern Nails is facing the bigger street so it's easy to miss if you follow Yelp's location. Upon entering, I was greeted by Jada and she showed me the wall of colors to choose for my manicure (all the gel colors are against the wall, while regular polish is on a turnstile in the center). She set up my spa pedicure in the massage chair while she finished with her other client. Jada was very gentle during cleaning and always made sure I was comfortable while she worked on me. And added bonus, she was way faster than most of the other girls. My friend started her pedicure just a little after mine and Jada was able to finish both mani and pedi before my friend was done. I'm not a person to write reviews, but Modern Nails always amazes me. I'm not the easiest client. I always get crazy and often intricate designs, such as the ones attached. I have found no matter what tech I go to, I will never leave disappointed. This salon has every sparkle, color, finish, sequin, etc. that you may want. I personally LOVE their chrome finishes. I live in Doylestown and have been driving 25 minutes to go to this salon in Richboro for almost two years now ever since a coworker from that area recommended them to me. Salons near me are $30 for a simple gel manicure!! I get a full, with gel, and designs often on every finger. Most of my images attached are $35, some $40-$45. This doesn't include the tip I leave. I have never spent more at Modern Nails for just my manicure. They take COVID very seriously. This includes a strong mask mandate, hand washing as soon as you enter, and thick, sturdy plexiglass between both you and your technician, and the client next to you. They are currently appointment only due to COVID, but often times you can make a same day appointment. Sometimes when you get there you may have to wait a little bit though. Today Jada did my refill, which is in the first picture. This was only $45. I was on a time crunch, but didn't tell her that because I didn't want her to feel rushed since I was asking for a lot. She completed everything so quickly, without being rushed, and did such an amazing job. They don't do any of the extra stuff, which is fine with me. I've only gotten a few pedicures there, but the chairs are nice and they use disposable liners. Thank you for always being my go to place!! read more

Pros: fully staffed and was busy but no wait on a Saturday morning, tons of openings for manicures and pedicures. Staff seems to know what they were doing. Nail polish seemed like good quality. Con: staffed rushed through my mani and pedi, I didn't feel like I could relax, the hot stone massage with the pedi was so quick. No hand massage or lotion with the manicure. read more

Definitely need an appointment as they are very busy and don't always have time for walk ins. All products are taken from sealed bags or have been already sanitized. I know each time I'll come in they will do a good job no matter which person I get too. That risk of "will it be good or will I like it" is not there so it makes it easy to come in. Came in for a refill as a first time customer today as my usual salon has recently been sold and is under new management, I was sat at Table 9 the techs name was Luda, she and the tech next to her did not realize I spoke Russian and proceeded to talk shit the entire appointment about my nails, how annoyed she was with my appointment and her lack of interest in doing nails period. Amongst talking shit about the owner and the entire salon staff, she did not speak a single word to me other than to ask what color I wanted. Not to mention she cut my cuticles and under my nails multiple times and rolled her eyes when I flinched out of pain. To say her station was unkept, dusty and dirty would be a slight understatement. When I asked her to shorten one of my nails that was blatantly longer than the others she nodded and then proceeded to say to the tech next to her "that in times like these she is grateful that she does not speak English well enough to reply to me." I calmly paid and made sure to leave her a nice tip, told her thank you in Russian and asked for her name so that I never have an appointment with her again. when I left I called the salon back and explained to the owner Katy what had happened, she definitely understood and apologized for my experience but made no attempt to fix the situation. Under normal circumstances I would let something like this go and just not return, but as I am now pretty sure that 2 out of the 5 cuts on my nails are infected I don't see a reason to let anyone else suffer. read more

The first salon I've been to where I actually enjoy my time spent there AND love my nails when I walk out! My nails are always perfect, I go every 3 weeks to Kate. Pedicures are amazing, I usually go to Olga or Mari but I have tried other techs and was never disappointed with any of them. Oh and everyone at the salon speaks English! When you drive over 10 plus miles to go to a nail salon, you know its good! Especially considering the fact that these days, there are as many nail salons as there are Walgreens or CVS! Not sure whats up with negative reviews below, but as far as a wait goes, I've never had any issues. The fact that there is a wait and there are so many nail techs goes to speak to the quality work that this salon does. They do the same quality work as some of the higher end nails salons in Philadelphia, but without the Philly prices! Oh, and they sterilize their tools! Not sure how closely some people pay attention to the tools being used, but this salon opens up the sterilized tools right in front of you, which I guarantee most nail salons do not do. Other places pull the tools out of a drawer OR have the tools in an open package and 'pretend' the tools are sterilized. Don't let the blue glowing box fool you into thinking they sterilize their tools - they usually keep it plugged to look like they use it, but trust me, most don't. Modern Nails does such quality work, I don't see myself going anywhere else anytime soon! read more

I made an appointment this morning, January 5th for 2:30p.m. with Julia. I arrived a few minutes early and was greeted by a woman at the reception area who instructed me to wash my hands and pick a color. After doing this, I sat myself at the front and waited a couple minutes. Another woman, who was doing someone's nails called my name and asked me to sit at Julia's station. I could see that Julia was finishing up another woman's pedicure. I didn't mind waiting a few minutes. I sat at Julia's station for over a half hour, completely unnoticed by everyone except another patron. There were two another nail technicians to each side of me who either didn't notice me or didn't care to tell Julia I had been sitting there for over half an hour. After 3p.m. I decided it was ridiculous and I decided to leave. On my way out, I saw Julia servicing another woman at the pedicure area. I was very confused, because the salon is currently appointment only due to COVID. As an assistant manager at a salon myself, this is a complete oversight and really upset me to allow a customer to sit at a tech's station for a half hour. Did they double book her or take a walk in? Not tell her I was sitting there? No one even cared I walked out. I really liked Julia's work before and always tipped well. I guess my patronage doesn't matter to this business. They lost a customer today and I will tell others not to bother with their salon, since they don't honor appointments or your valuable time. read more
