They do take walk ins but I recommend making an appointment. They have a huge array of gel colors and affordable prices compared to surrounding salons! I am sorry to say I did not have the best experience. My sister's experience was better but I had one of the worst experiences. My technician's station was dirty--full of dust and nail clippings as well as four half drank drinks. She cut/filed my nails so short that two started to bleed and when I asked her to not cut as short she simply did not listen. I got gel and it lasted two days. I have been to this salon before and have had a somewhat better experience in the past. read more

I am a Newtown resident and have been going to other locations for quite some time. I needed a gel manicure before a last minute meeting. I came in on Wednesday, 5/16/18 at around 10:15 AM as a walk in. I was led right away to a technician who was doing her own nails at the time. I thought I had the wrong station. She gestured with her nail tool to sit down. I placed my bag on the floor and put my hands on the table- only to realize my hands were in sticky goop. She laughed and said "doing my own nails!" Apparently she spilled some nail gel at her station while doing her own nails. She did not offer to wipe off my hands; but placed a paper towel right over the spilled sticky gel. She then wrapped my old gel nails in the foil and proceeded to **finish her own gel manicure that I had to watch** while she chatted with the girl next to her about her own nails. I was so horrified and disgusted that I almost left except that I had that meeting at noon. (I also need to mention that I was in work clothes. My work jacket kept rubbing on the scratched and worn down arms of the thread-bare chair that I had to sit in. I was worried it would snag). She proceeded to perform my gel manicure, then filed the ends of my nails after the gel manicure was done. Is this right? I thought that doing so would break the seal and I even asked her this. She said no. ...I mentioned that I put my bag on the floor. When I picked it back up and put it on the seat of my car, it left a white mark. I realized it was from dust and dirt from this salon. Well- you can see just 1 day later that the gel already peeled on my thumb. I am so upset with the $30 (plus required tip) that I spent that I am going to print this review and send it to Newtown Nails and the Newtown Business Association. I am not just disgruntled, I am mad at the lack of quality service that I was given. I had to pick 1 star to post this, otherwise it would have been zero. read more

Had an appointment for 5:30 and got there 5 minutes early. Upon arrival they had me wash my hands and pick a color and said nothing else to me for about 20 minutes. Finally someone acknowledged me just before I had enough of waiting and sat me down to soak my nails. Another 25 minutes has gone by without anyone saying one word to me. I had to wait over 50 minutes before they even started my nails around 6:20 (even with an appointment). The woman who finally helped me sped through the entire process not even taking 20 minutes in my nails. I got dip and not even 24 hours later they have already chipped- and my dip NEVER chips at any other salon. My nails are also roughly filed and still have dyed fingers. The whole experience was so unpleasant and will not be returning to this salon. Money wasted. read more

I visited Newtown Nails for my first time today. While I didn't think the service was that great I wasn't too unimpressed while I was there. I did think my technician moved quickly through the pedicure service. No massage either which is usually offered in most salons. But when I came home I was not too happy with the quality of the pedicure. Polish on the back of my toes, not a great polish job, my feet are way more dry then prior to the service and it doesn't even look like top coat was applied. I can't believe this place has 5 stars! I have never had a more rushed, careless, and rough manicure in my life. She could not get my old nail polish off and ended up filing down my already weak nails until they were paper thin, she spent 3 minutes on my cuticles (and never once used cuticle oil), and was totally careless with the polish. Amazing. I wish I had found this place sooner. My friend and I came here right after we got terrible manicures at Urban Allure Salon & Spa (because they couldn't fit us in for pedicures) We were welcomed as soon as we walked in the door, and the place was filled with patrons, but everyone looked happy. This place was extremely organized, and when we picked our colors, they were completely ready for us with our chairs and water warm and ready to go. This salon is clean, modern, and extremely friendly and it shows. They had something fun on tv, and everyone in the salon was engaged in conversation with one another. Jenny did an INCREDIBLE job on my pedicure! Not only was she able to take care of the ingrown nails the right way, but she made sure that my pedicure was neat, clean and even. She engaged in conversation with me, which made it more enjoyable. She also took her time so I didn't feel rushed. I left feeling pretty, polished, and felt like luxury without breaking the bank. A pedicure cost $25, which is pretty standard for pedicures, but this one was absolutely worth it! read more

I am here now for a pedicure. The woman who worked on my feet did a decent job but the nail polish choices are limited and some of the bottles look like they have been on the shelf for years. I was rushes even though i had an appointment, which did not start until after 15 minutes, i got powder dip nails (not my first time) and the girl filed my nails to my skin, cut me in four places and when i said something got defensive and another woman had to "fix" it. I have been getting my nails done at other salons for years, i will never return. Not to mention no one apologized and it cost me $60. Terrible. read more

I went here two times for a pedi - wasn't impressed the first time but I was in the area so I decided to give them another try. Not impressed. Nail technicians are not friendly. Pedicure was quick and sloppy - I had to ask her to remove nail polish from my toe after the pedi. They do not have drying stations and it seems very cluttered inside. Massage/pedi chairs are peeling. Def go elsewhere. When I got home from my pedi, I had to pumice the bottom of my feet again. read more

I don't live in Newtown anymore but when I did or if I'm ever home visiting I'll always go to Newtown Nails. It is my staple nail salon and always will be in Newtown! Friendly staff, great service, no frills, just what you pay for to get your nails done or an eyebrow wax, etc. The staff kept me coming back the most, I find them to be the friendliest group out of the other salons in town. read more

Where do I begin? First of all, I made the mistake of coming here because my go-to place (which I adore) is closed on Sunday's and I knew it was the only day that week I could make the time to get my nails done. I'll never make that mistake again! Nothing about my experience here was good. Their website (and their door) said they were open until 4pm. I arrived at 2:55pm and they already had a closed sign in the window and the door was locked. However, I noticed many people inside so I knocked. A woman opened the door with a dirty look and I asked "are you still open?" Her response was a very rude "well, what do you want?" I asked for a gel manicure and was let in. To say the manicure was rushed is an understatement. I had to ask her to refile my nails, as she left them uneven. The water I soaked my fingers in was ice cold. She barely trimmed my cuticles and then proceeded to paint all over them - we all know that painting gel on the cuticles causes it to not seal correctly. She just didn't care. When she was finished, she asked if it was OK, and I said absolutely not - there's polish all over my fingers. I was told it's that way because my nails are short...um, you just trimmed them! So she sat there and started clipping the skin with the polish off with the cuticle removers. It was beyond asinine. The worst part of all of this is that I can't even trust them to be sanitary! I walked back from washing my hands in the sink and she was TRIMMING HER OWN CUTICLES with the tool she had just used on me. Absolutely gross. To end on an even lower note, they charge more than most other places in town and my manicure didn't even last one week. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of this place. read more
