Well, I had one yesterday right down the street from my office at Fingertips & Tootsies, located in the basement of the Godwin Building on South State Street, Newtown (parking and entrance in the rear). This small business is owned/operated by Fern, a lovely woman who had worked there since her teens and knows from toenails. She put me at ease quickly, as she escorted me to the smaller of the two rooms, where there are two "thrones" for pedicures. None of those massage chair foot tub blue water whirlpool contraptions here. Everything is done by hand the old fashioned way. My feet were slipped into large plastic bags full of pink lotion, and then into heated plastic slippers that allowed my feet to get warm as the lotion softened my skin. Each foot was taken out in turn to permit Fern to use her tools to cut and clean around each toenail, after which she replaced the baggie on my foot to go to work on the other one. At the end, both were removed and she massaged my lower legs and feet. She slipped on my socks and I finished the job by putting on my shoes. The whole time we chatted easily about the community and some of the changes that were going on to update the business community. We had never met before, but knew many of the same people. It was enjoyable to gossip and joke with her about how things were changing in town. She was obviously highly skilled at her profession, and I literally walked out with very happy feet. $40 for 45 minutes of focused attention on my toes and feet seemed fair to me. I of course, cannot see it while I'm sitting in the chair, so it's always once I get home that I noticed this.

I really like that she's doesn't use foot baths here because I am sometimes wary of their sanitation. It's never too crowded here so your manicure/pedicure is sure to be relaxing! The guy there was super rude towards me and my grandma he forgot to file her nails down an always rushed her appointments and she'd come home disappointed but it doesn't even begin to describe the one time I had come in and asked for a basic French tip and the whole time he was aggressive with my hands and I felt overall uncomfortable and it looked nothing like picture. So I sat with my nails that cost me alot of money for a night and called the next morning and he had treated me terribly and when I got them fixed next day he said he would never ever do a French tip nail on me because I was so picky (which it didn't even look like the photo) and he was so aggressive once again did a horrible job and still saw the white underneath my nails from the French tip on my new color and just did a horrible job over all. He made me feel so incredibly uncomfortable and like I wasn't even a customer I always tipped good and even tipped his young daughter who I had admired for helping her dad work at such a young age. Highly don't recommend. Especially if you're a teenager they will try and take advantage of you.
