Woah! I can't believe this place has such bad reviews overall. I've been here twice in a pinch without looking at the reviews, and I feel like it was definitely a 4 or 4.5 star experience both times. The first time the woman was so fast it was amazing! I was in a hurry and she made my service work for me in the perfect amount of time (45 mins for a balance). My only complaint that time was that the mani wasn't quite as close to my cuticle line as I wanted it to be and it shortened the life of my mani by 4 or 5 days because it looked grown out more quickly. Otherwise, the polish that time looked good and I was pretty happy with my bright red nails. This time, I was with a different guy and had a different shape and I wasn't in a rush. I really liked the color-changing polish options they have. So fun! I went with a smokey violet that turns into sky blue option. I had a coffin shape that needed some correcting, and honestly it's more consistent and more to my liking now than any shaping I have had recently-- I'm picky so the overall shape is something I pay a lot of attention to and if it's not right it bothers me until it's fixed. The polish application isn't quite perfect-- there's a tiny bit of spill over here and there onto my cuticle edge. It's super minimal and probably only I would notice, but it's not perfect and spillover onto the cuticle eventually can cause lifting/chipping as the mani grows out. We'll see how it looks in a week or two, but so far so good. I have had a better experience here in the last few months than I have at any other place I have been to more than once, and all other places had better reviews. I will go back to this place without hesitation any time I am at Easton and have time. Most people have a hard time speaking up when they notice something off, and they are thus setting the nail tech up for failure. If you see something, say something! read more

Got a pedicure here, the experience was fine, the staff nice enough. The polish job was okay. The major issue was that it was Dirty in many places, like as in not cleaned in a while. Made me wish we had looked at reviews. We thought it being at Easton would mean it was fine. They were not busy so definitely had time to wipe down surfaces. read more

I do not recommend this place !!!! The prices show $37 and up for full set. My sister in law got a SHORT full set with gel polish. The service overall was just terrible. Denny or what ever his name is was full on rushing through the whole set, not only that but he was yanking my sister in laws arms the whole time. He kept asking what we were doing which made us feel like he was trying to see how much to over charge us. After paying my sister in law looked at her nails and realized that they were crooked, different sizes, the polish doesn't look coated well, and too wide. We then went back and asked for a refund in which they started insisting for us to sit down and they'd get it fixed. We told them we didn't want to sit there for much longer since the set took about 40-50 minutes already for a set that didn't even looked good or decent. We were asking for at least half of a refund or full. Denny then proceeded to tell us that their policy doesn't allow refunds and that he had told us the price before getting started but he originally told us $55 and that it was actually $65 because they were "long" in which I told him that those nails were not even medium size. Then he proceeded to repeat himself stating that the policy was no refunds and that he could redo the set again in which we told him that we didn't want to sit there again because he should've taken his time the second he started on her nails. Then I started looking for this said policy it to my surprise it is nowhere to be found so a customer won't know about this policy. I proceeded to ask him where this policy was at and he kept saying it's the managers policy in which I told him that I wanted to speak to the manager about this policy in which he then again started to repeat himself stating that he would re do this set. We decided to just leave since we didn't see that we would get a refund. Please do not come to this nail salon at all!! Not only will they rush through the whole process and also yank you all over the place as they do your nails. It may be "cheap" but it's definitely not worth it at all. I was from out of town and needed a shellac color change. Honestly Denny who did my nails was incredible nice and my nails looked great last Tuesday (we were in town for the Duke & Ohio State basketball game 11/30/21 today exactly one week this is how my nails look. It's low quality shellac for a crazy cost. I normally pay $52 for a fill in and shellac. I had just had my nails filled in the day before and didn't like the color once I got to Columbus so I went to modern nails for a shellac change. $67!!! $67!!!!!!! For something that would legit flake off a week later. I can go nearly 8 weeks and never have shellac chip. I learned my lesson. Sadly don't waste your money. read more

I went to the salon this past Friday for a manicure/pedicure. It was my technician's first day and she was very kind, but kept grabbing the wrong bottles and doing the wrong thing. The whole thing took almost two hours for a basic mani/pedi and she did not make my nails even after I asked many times to do so. By Saturday 3 of my toes were missing polish and most of my nails had chipped just from regular activity. I understand new employees but she should have been checked on to make sure I received the same service as everyone else. Was $70 with tip for the worst mani/pedi of my life. I was very unhappy with my services at Modern Nails. My girlfriend and I got off work early and decided to go shopping and treat ourselves to a mani/pedi. We chose Modern Nails and I wish we hadn't. A man at the front asked us if $60 was okay for both services and we agreed. We both opted for a basic pedicure. To our surprise, we were asked if we wanted them to remove the "dead skin" from our feet. When I asked for clarification they explained that they do not include skin exfoliation of your feet with a basic pedicure...that is $5.00 extra. I thought that this was the purpose for a pedicure. We both got a manicure and wanted gel polish. When we were done with our services and went to pay we were both asked to pay $81.00. That is a far cry from $60. I didn't bother to ask why it was so much more. I am sure that it was $5 extra for the pedicure and $15 for the gel poish. BUT I HAVE NEVER PAID THAT MUCH! I have gotten mani/pedi's a million times before and paid approx $60 to $65 at most (which includes gel polish). The polish on my fingernails was too thick...it appeared bulbous on the tips and looked like I had fake nails on. My daughter said "Mom, it looks like you have press on nails on". The nail files appeared to be disposable but are being reused. After I was finished with my pedicure I was watching the other employees and noone ever cleaned out the basins where the pedicures take place. They emptied them and rinsed them but no type of cleanser was used or tools to scrub them out. They simply refilled them and started on the next customer. Makes me think that they are not following any sanitation processes. Something just didn't seem right at this place. When the man that did my services was finished his manager barked at him and told him "Go work...no break (and points at the next customer). We are busy!" I will not return to Modern Nails. I had a guy tech that seemed nice but very chatty while he was soaking and filing my nail he asked me at least 20 questions including why my nails are so short they look like boys nails. I told him I worked in a hospital and I like to keep them short, which only lead to more questions. I asked for a French gel manicure and he said $40 and asked if that was okay.. I guess? We agreed and he started painting. He did one clear coat, set it, and then worked on the white strips. When he was done he asked me to look at them to see if I liked it. For a moment I honestly thought he was joking. The white was streaking down my entire nail and there were black dots on my pointer finger. I asked him about the dots and he said.. It was like that before you came in, you have black dots under your nail. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! LOL I know it's a popular joke but I didn't think that excuse was actually used. I told him there is no way, even medical speaking, that I came in with tiny black dots under one of my nails. Another tech (or manager) came up and said something in a different language and they processed to have a full 5 minute conversation in front of me. My tech was twisting my finger so the other people could see it and I had to pull it away when it became too painful. They had another tech take over who removed the polish and you'll never guess... the black dots were gone. At this point I had already been here for an hour and we haven't started painting yet. I wanted to leave but I felt invested. The new tech finished quickly and did a good job. When I went to check out I was charged $45. I told him I was told it was $40 but he just said "no it's $45". The next day I got on a plane for my 11 day vacation in Greece! I sat back, relaxed, grabbed a drink... and then saw a curly hair imbedded on my middle finger under coasts of gel polish. I tried to take a photo but with the glass of the nail it doesn't show well. And of course I couldn't find a nail salon in a little Greek island so the whole trip I had a very of this little curly hair every time I ate something. So torn. I have been here before and had great results. I just had the worst pedicure. So bad that I didn't even stay for a gel mani. It was so rushed and poorly done. Tried to keep upselling me. He dumped cuticle oil all over my legs, rubbed it in a little and then wiped it off. When he went to paint, he didn't use any base coat. When I asked him why not he said they were "out" so he found something else in his box in an attempt to appease me. I also asked him to redo one of my toes because the polish was thick and uneven. It just seemed that since I only wanted the basic pedicure, I wasn't worth his time. All the other techs appeared to be taking their time and really paid attention to detail. They offered to redo it and after the 50th time of trying to explain that I didn't want anyone else to touch me, I finally walked out. This place is awful. My experience here was just fine. I came here to treat my younger sister to a gel manicure for her homecoming dance the next weekend. The place was busy, but we got right in. The job they did was okay, but my nails have certainly looked better. The older guy, who was the owner, did my manicure, but was kind of pushy about it, but maybe he just wanted to make sure I didn't mess it up before it could cure. I asked for the exfoliating pedicure ($45) with gel, expecting to pay a bit more for the gel but he never informed me how much. WARNING RESULTED IN A HOSPITAL VISIT READ ALL OF THIS!!! in on my only day off for a manicure and a balance which was supposed to be a 55.00 package deal (we'll get to that later). Everything was down hill the second I hopped in that pedicure tub, she half assed removed my calluses, did not apply a top coat before applying the nail color and wrapped my feet in what looked like dirty paraffin dip!! As unsatisfied as I was the paint job still looked decent so I didn't complain and we moved over to the table to do my acrylic balance......she took over an hour to remove my current gel coat, shaped my nails SLANTED and you could still see my natural nail bed and she didn't even coat my entire nails with paint she quickly slapped on the gel and rushed me to the register where she charged me 110.00!!!! We argued because the male that was working when I arrived told me it would only be 55.00!! She bit back that he didn't decide her prices!! I handed her a 100.00 cut my losses and left!!! BUT WAIT THERES MORE!!!! Two days later I awoke to my left foot feeling like it was on fire I flipped on the lights and my foot had skin peeling and in addition to that it looked like a light mildew!!! On a hunch I removed my nail polish my nails were SUNSHINE YELLOW!!! I tried to tell myself this due to the nail tech not applying a top coat, but there was still the issue of my feet burning so I went to the er where the medical staff informed me that I had a fungal infection AND a bacterial infection most likely from unsanitized salon tools!!! Walk in appointment. had a gift certificate from christmas to use. decent prices. loved the pedicure! the woman who did it for me was friendly. they do reuse nail files which was a bit odd to me. had a manicure after my pedicure. it went well enough... although after 1 week the nail polish is already chipping off. my toes still look great. if I go back, it'll just be more another pedicure, but I may look around at some other options/salons before choosing Modern Nails again. They had a bunch of workers just sitting around, playing on their phones and one woman played solitaire on her computer and I don't think they clean out their basins very well after each pedicure is finished. NEVER GO HERE!!! I used to go here years ago and had decent experiences but recently I went and this guy was so rushed with doing my gel nails and I had to instruct him on what I wanted, which was red tips (nothing complicated!!). I wanted the tips curved a particular way and at first he listened then he got impatient and he stopped in the middle and did what he wanted so he could finish the job quickly and I wasn't happy with my results. So, I decided to give it a second chance and figured I just got a bad person, and I'll just have someone else do my nails. I went today and got an older lady and I showed her pictures of what I wanted on my cell phone and she interrupted me and said she knew what I wanted. So I let her do her thing and surprise, surprise, she did a shit job (and didn't listen to anything I said) and when I told her of her error, she said it was my fault for not speaking up even though I had shown her pictures on my cell of the exact look I wanted. She even started screaming loudly and the manager came over and of course took her side and instead of being a jerk customer and cussing them out, I decided to come on here and warn everyone DO NOT GO HERE!!!! Everyone who works there is super rude, their prices are way too high for their crap service and they don't give a damn about you leaving with a happy experience and I wish I never gave them a dime of my money. We had planned on getting our nails done and since Modern Nails was in the mall and could get us in in 30 minutes, we decided to go there. The workers were very hard to understand and not very friendly. I felt like we were being pushed around the entire time. The manicure was probably the shortest one I've had in my entire life, and I've been plenty of places. On a positive note, my nails did look good and it was cheap at $15. I have been going to this salon for almost 6 years. The prices are affordable for a mani/pedi at $42. The location is convenient if you are shopping around Easton, but not so convenient if you don't live close by. My girl Amy is one of the best nail technicians in the city. I used to live in LA and nail salons were a dime / dozen. I don't have fake nails so I don't know if she is the girl for you but her attention to detail, the leg massage, the meticulous nature in which she consistently removes dead skin, pushes back your cuticles and always know what colors works best on you is one of the reasons why she has SO MANY regulars! The pedi-spa is very comfortable and the wait time to get in if you're a walk-in is okay. But I call ahead for Amy specifically. read more

I'm new to OH and Modern Nails was recommended by the waitress at California Pizza. The nail technician was extremely pushy with pushing services on me and wanted to know WHY when I said no! I got a gel manicure which was ok, technician did not massage my hands which is the best part for me. BUT for $40 I should have gotten a damn good hand massage! My polish chipped 2 days later even though I use gloves when I wash dishes and clean. After reading online what the gel process was, the nail technician did NOT put a top coat on my nails. I had a fine experience, I don't like much talk while getting my nails done. My tech did a fine job, but definitely kind of pricey for gel nails... I went in with my sister and she got a full set, the actual acrylic was fine, but her paint job was HORRIBLE. She got a bright color with sparkled tips, and it was an absolute mess. The guy seemed like he didn't want anything to do with her. Didn't talk AT ALL and got irritated when she reminded him about the tips. Sloppy job. Sadly, that means I have to downgrade their rating. The basic mani-pedi option I reviewed previously for $42 is still a solid value, and they do a good job at that. However, my most recent visit, I decided to try a different option, upgrading to an option with a sugar scrub and body butter massage part. Great idea, and my skin is still smooth and silky... but the nail polish just refused to hold to my nails afterwards. So my very nice manicure, two days later, looks like crap since the lotion was too heavy. Thankfully, it was a light color and it isn't very obivious, but for polish to completely chip off after two days is unacceptable. I will Never go here again for waxing or mani/pedi. I just moved here and this is my first experience in Ohio, but I can't imagine that people in Ohio are okay with subpar service. If after reading this you still decide to come here, make sure to pay by credit card, so if you are dissatisfied you can file a chargeback on your card and receive your money back. They tell you the price for a mani/pedi is $42, which is competitive, however, it is the most basic service, of cuticle removal and polish, not even including scrub or callous removal, (which has always been a standard part of a pedicure in my previous experiences). I had to pay $10 extra for that service, and since they already had me in the chair I felt I had very little choice, not wanting to pay that much just to paint my toenails. The "waxing area" is ridiculous, it is a chair behind the cash register, so the man who was ringing people up kept bumping into me, or making me roll away when he needed to get something from the cabinet. I truly hope they have a separate room if you are getting a more "personal" body part waxed. Anyway, it is an unsettling feeling when someone is coming at your face with scissors or hot wax. As far as my eyebrows, I asked her to just clean them up a little bit. The hairs are blonde and pretty straight across with a slight downward arch, and I have a scar that runs above one eye. My brows are not uneven by any means and most people never notice the scar, but she COMPLETELY changed the shape of my brows, saying she had to compensate for the scar. She arched them very high in the center so I look almost like I have clown eyebrows. She also missed many of the hairs on the underside of my brow, and when I told her sucj she started poking me in the eye and rubbing her finger across very aggressively saying she didn't feel anything. (Not how you want to treat that sensitive skin around your eyes!) As someone else mentioned in these reviews, I am also not the type of person to complain and post a bad review, I usually just complain to myself. But I do not get a mani/pedi to be hounded to pay more and upgrade my experience, and I expect that when I do pay for a service, it is completed well. Bad experience. Prices are a bit high for the service I recieved but I took a chance because I was shopping on the mall and it was easy. My girl( who never introduced herself) didn't even sanatize her impliments or surface area from the previous client and I had to ask her to do that, I never once saw her liscence and she couldn't remember how long she had been doing nails. I got a full set put on and they are extremely thin so just my luck my thumb nail broke the next day. I went back and explained and they said it wod be fixed (I assumed it would be free) and when it was all done and over with I was charges 5$ plus tax and as I try to argue the payment she and the other employees started talking in a different laungage and were laughing in my face. In town for business and couldn't find a nail salon that did acrylic nails downtown so I took a cab to Easton Town Center for shopping, a movie and some new nails. I asked for pink and white and was told they did "solar nails" - which was the equivalent. I wasn't that pleased with the descriptions of their services or lack thereof, but that all went away when Sky-Mary started in on my nails. She took her time and did an absolutely beautiful job. Several other nail technicians came over to watch her do them, as maybe they don't get alot of requests for pink and white? It's $50. which is about the same price as it is in DC. When I get acrylics put on, they can't cut them short enough. So a major way I gauge the job done is how well they handle my requests for shorter. She was great and didn't give me any attitude.
