Usually just do my nails myself because I hate spending time and money on something that isn't exactly how I want it. This salon came recommended. I came as a walk-in and explained that I needed something that would last through yard work, kitchen work, computer keyboards, etc. and I'd like a neutral color (so it's not that noticeable when chipped). Lana took care of me. She did an excellent job. She used a nail "dip" that hardens pretty much instantly and I didn't have to worry about smudging anything after leaving the nail studio. Fast forward four weeks later and the polish pretty much looks the same as it did on day 1, except that my nails have grown out. Since the color is neutral, it's not noticeable unless you look closely. I am headed back to have them redone. The salon has been newly renovated, with a brand new addition of new pedicure and nail stations. The atmosphere is very friendly and familiar. I could tell that just about everyone was a return customer and the customers even knew each other because they've been going here for years. read more

I have been coming here for awhile, but never completed a review. The management and staff has totally changed since I first came. Tina was the owner originally and her daughter Victoria worked there too. They both did excellent work!!! Now they are under new management but when my husband and I came in we both were pleased with our service. I had a manicure with French polish and my husband had pedicure. We both were pleased. I had to take a star away because Do (that's his name) did my service with gloves on except for the massage. No one else did that. Lana did my husband's feet and he felt like she could have gotten rid of more dead skin and cleaned under his toenails better. Overall pretty good, but I am concerned with the amount of layers he put on. I fear it's going to chip this week, but I hope I am wrong. read more

This was a horrible experince. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AT THIS PLACE. Go to haven nails that's like 5 minutes away. I waited a hour and a half to have the worst manicure of my life. I asked one of the workers if he could do this design if not it's all good, he seemed pretty confident that he could. 1st he cut my nail bed and I'm bleeding. He put the design on one nail and showed it to me and it was AWFUL and I asked him if he could just take it off and just keep the rest of the nail and he gave me the worst look like I killed someone. 2 days later my friends nail is already chipped because their products are cheap, and 6 of my nails are peeling from the top. I come to mount pleasant every few weeks or so to visit my family, and I've been to modern nails a couple times. It's been pretty hit or miss with service - I've had some technicians that are so friendly and sweet, and others who are texting half the time as they do your nails, not paying any attention or listening to me at all. The color selection is a bit limited (compared to other salons in the area), but it's normally pretty quick and fairly decent manicure for the price. Not somewhere I would go for a luxurious or "spa" type experince by any means, but for something quick it's good enough and I normally haven't had to wait. (The one time I did have to wait - they told me it would be 10 mins and it ended up being wayyy longer) but if you come during off hours you should be fine. I would have given modern nails 3 stars if not for the fantastic eyebrow wax! I'm always a bit skeptical getting my brows done at a place that doesn't specialize in waxing but I was pleasantly surprised in this case! read more

I absolutely LOVE this salon! I'm sad it took me so long to find them. I have been 4 times now since quarantine lifted and they are wonderful. Victoria is my girl! She's got a fantastic personality and conversation flows easily. I get dipped nails and gel in my toes, she does them both flawlessly!!! I have been going to Modern Nails salon for a little over six months. I have been getting powder dip manicures and pedicures. I had been very pleased with the dip manicures up until recently. My last appointment was two weeks ago, a day before leaving for vacation. I have had a nail crack one previous time and they repaired it with no problem. This time, it happened again almost immediately after I returned home from my appointment. I went in the next morning and they did repair it, but I asked if it was likely to happen to other nails as it happened so quickly. They assured me that no, it would not. The second day into vacation, other nails started to crack. In addition, the technician who did my pedicure dug way too far up into the side of my big toenail and left a mess as well as a throbbing ingrown nail. I'm very frustrated because I feel that they rushed through the manicure, especially since I noticed some steps that they always did were skipped, like drying in between coats. They layers were also very thin this time. The technician who repaired the first crack told me they had tried a cheaper dip product so that makes me feel as if they are far less concerned with customer satisfaction than they are with increasing their bottom line. I am happy to spend the money for a good service but to pay $110 to have your nails ruined, possibly infected, and painful is not acceptable. I would not return. read more

Ok, I just read the other reviews & the ones that said it was clean.. I am perplexed. Now maybe it's because it's the 3rd of July & busy but it was far from clean. It's my first visit & will be my last. I had a gel mani & regular pedi $58.00 Really?? The sign on the window said $37!! The nails look really good, and staff was friendly, however, the website and pamphlets stated that acrylic nails cost $35, but when I went to checkout, my total was $65. I wish they would have told me it would be $30 extra beforehand. I got a small design on my nails but I didn't think that would cost so much extra. I've had this happen at previous salons. read more

I went to Modern Nails for about a year even though RIGHT after going , I ALWAYS had issues with my nails the very next day. I still gave them a chance. Yesterday I went and got my nails done, I asked for my eyebrows and Rose the owner told me I could get that done the next day when I returned for my toes. I made an appointment for the next day for toes for me and my daughter at 12:30. I planned my whole day around this- we go in and Rose whispers to me "can you come back later?" ... why even offer appointments if you can't honor them? Worst experience! I ended up going there last Saturday and was not happy but don't like to leave negative comments usually. I ended up here cause my salon where I usually go was really busy. When I got there they said no wait and but in my chair for a pedicure. I sat there for at least 20 minutes and they were not busy and had extra hands. The pedicure itself was not bad but the guy didn't put in tow seperators and they smudge immediately, I would have asked to retouch at the end of my manicure but that's when the horror started. I wanted gels nails, he out on way to many coats at once so that when I put them under the UV light I felt as I stuck my hand in fire. He got pissed about it, had to drill the gel part of while burning my nails and telling me to stop moving and grasp tightly and it was burning! After he got most off he told MW to hurry up and pick out another color. He quit a lady finished. I was there for 2.5 hours! 4 days later and all the gel is already coming off on two nails! I NEVER GO AGAIN AND WARN PEOPLE NOT TOO! read more
