Otto and his staff were extremely knowledgeable and courteous and seemed very passionate about what they do. Otto (the owner of the company) personally drove to my home in Irvine all the way from La Jolla to assess my space and helped me come up with the ideal solution for my home theater needs at a very reasonable price. Upon countless hours of researching (i.e. reading numerous articles from Hometheater.com, soundandvisionmag.com and researching forums online) and auditioning gear at several dealers, I've decided to pull the trigger with La Jolla Home Theater & Automation and never looked back. Paul Haggar has moved-on to the budding La Jolla Home Theater & Automation from being an official Apple Store Genius but, deservedly, continues to receive referrals from Apple as one of its outside Consultants. I was one of those recent referrals. In March, 2012, he took my MacBook with a badly failing hard drive under his care and worked his wonders over several office days...and home evenings. Paul's fixation restoring my MacBook took priority to his compensation. He determined he had to escalate his efforts to the more costly "recovery of data" level to transfer the information to the new hard drive and so completed the repair without adjusting our original repair-cost agreement. Not only that, but he upgraded the OSX to allow for automatic backup to help avoid information loss in the future. Paul clearly remains a computer genius but, more importantly, is a man of integrity who prioitizes his commitment to his customer's needs and his own "hard drive" for excellence. read more

I would highly recommend this company. They came to our house and did a Great Job setting us up and getting us all dialed in! They helped resolve the plethora of issues we had with our wifi and helped us update our computers, all our iphones, ipads, ipods and they set us up with an Apple TV. Everything works perfectly and Its so cool how we can wirelessly play our pictures on our tv. They are very careful and clean with their wires. They showed me how to use everything and even helped me make a video training tool for future reference. Paul was the technician that came over and he was really friendly and super knowledgeable with electronics and computers and pretty much everything. He was very knowledgeable about the equipment that will work best for me and my family. I am very pleased with the services I received and the turnout of their project in my home. We hired Modern Home Systems to get music throughout our 4-story house...I had originally imagined a costly project with lots of equipment, wires, and drywall repairs (but I was still willing...for music!). We ended up spending a couple grand less than I expected and, not only did I get music, but an entire Mac-based system, including Apple TV (we can view slideshows of our pics or YouTube from our plasma TV and rent movies on demand!) and my new MacBook Pro. Any time you're working with technology, little glitches always come up, but Otto always went the extra mile to fix them free of charge. I went from a sort of satisfied PC person to a thrilled Mac person... I LOVE EVERYTHING!!! Everything is wireless...not one cut in my drywall! And, the music sounds amazing. read more

This place was awesome! I wanted to surprise my husband with a home theater for his birthday, and a friend of mine recommend this place! I liked the fact that I could talk directly to Otto, the owner of the company and I could tell the installers exactly what I wanted and didn't want. La Jolla Home Theater & Automation came out to install a system to control my stereo and TV through my iPad. It has been 8 months and they still have not made it work as they claimed. When called them fix the problems, I was told some lame excuses and then told it was that it was out of there hands. I finally ended up calling ACE AudioVideo Consulting & Engineering they came out and fixed it right away. The coolest thing about this place is that it is actually a house, so you can see the technology in action! The people working here are great too, friendly and very patient.
