I paid $160 in cash for a 15 minute cleaning. The hygenist took me in at 10:15, and I was outside the office at 10:30, which technically means more like a 10 minute cleaning. When cleaning are paid by the medical insurance and they last 15 minutes, perhaps that's a standard. However, a paid for cleaning lasts an hour, everywhere. read more

Prior to locating Modern Dentistry on 1800DENTIST.com, I had been to several dentists in the New York metro area and they were all unremarkable. It had been approximately 10 years since I had been to a dentist until I wandered in to the offices of Modern Dentistry four years ago. The office is always clean and the staff is very attentive. For example, if my appointment is at 4pm, I am in the examining chair by 4:10pm. My first appointment was with Sofia Vrataric, DMD. She made me feel very comfortable during my initial examination, and after she reviewed my x-rays she informed me that I needed to have a root canal. Needless to say I wasn't elated by this news. The root canal was actually a pleasant experience, and no I am not kidding or being sarcastic! I popped in my mp3 earphones, closed my eyes and opened wide and all I felt was pressure. Dr. Vrataric was great! I was then introduced to my dental hygienist, Sasha, one word phenomenal! Sasha is a great asset to the Modern Dentistry family. She is gentle and filled with compassion. Sasha takes the time to let you know what you should be doing for your teeth between office visits and even notices when you have/haven't been doing it. I look forward to my appointments with Sasha. Modern Dentistry has transformed my long held fear of the dentist to one of great anticipation for each appointment. I am a very satisfied customer of Modern Dentistry since 2009. They scheduled an appointment for me, so I came in with severe teeth pain, hoping that they will finally take it out, since it gives me so much pain, so I cannot sleep at night. When I gave my insurance info and my ID and filed out paperwork, they told me they do not take my insurance!! It's so disgusting, the job is not organized! Knowing that I am not in network with them, they let me spend 30 min there and then they let me know I won't be seen!!! I am so upset, I have to go to emergency room to ask their help!!! Their service is terrible. Please call them and SAY couple of times what insurance and what plan you have! Otherwise, you'll waste your time like me. read more

After being a loyal patient of Dr Bernstein's for years and recommending many patients to him, I was totally disgusted by the way his office treated me. Seems money is much more important than care of a patient that stuck with you 30 plus years from a run down hole in the wall office to a modern facility. I always paid my bills fully (as did my insurance) and in a very timely manner. When a veneer came out (that was put in by him to cover his error in over filing of a tooth in an inappropriate manner that left a short jagged edge completely ruining my appearance ) it fell out in a short span of time (which it should not have!) I retreived it and it simply had to be reattached. They refused to fix it because of a bogus amount of money supposedly due 4 years earlier to which I knew was paid in full and never received any bill to the contrary nor was it ever mentioned during any visit in the intervening years. As a matter of fact this procedure was costly and totally unnecessary to begin with and therefore accomplished nothing. Unfortunately while I held Dr Bernstein in high regard for many years, I was appalled by this response and will never recommend or return to this office. His staff can also be rather rude and unpleasant. Please find a doctor that cares about their patients and not lining their pockets with erroneous bills that are totally not legitimate and seem to appear out of thin air! Shame on you! read more

I give 4 stars because there was a little mix up with my insurance company that took some time to fix, however after speaking with Anna, she had everything cleared up with the insurance, getting me a refund from my insurance company and then called to follow up. I continue to go every 6 months for a cleaning and see the dentist yearly. Everything is so perfectly clean, and I have also never waited more than 10 minutes to be seen! I love that when they give you an appointment time, they make sure you are seen promptly. So I have been going to Dr. Bernstein for probably the better part of a year. I only go on SUNDAYS for my cleaning every 3 months because I know Sasha will be there. these ppl did not schedule me with whom i had asked to be scheduled as i am a provider myself and they were quick to push you to do these extra imaging for money for which they had the biller come in the room to let me know prices and breakdown whats what- but this was a waste of my time and money because they were quite sneaky in what they do and how they do and set me up to basically in the end still not have proper answers and when i asked if she can email me the breakdown i was given a card and overall the billers attitude in my opinion was very as a mtter of fact....and demeaning approach to speaking i just dont think you should run a business like this read more

I had my first cleaning & checkup visit at Modern Dentistry today (Sunday hours--so convenient!) and I was very impressed! All of the staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and they seemed to really care that I had as pleasant a trip to the dentist as possible. The woman at the front desk was super friendly and very knowledgeable about insurance procedures, so taking care of that was a breeze. She also booked my next 2 appointments for me, noting their flexibility if I need to change them, but it's great to have them on the calendar and taken care of. The hygienist was extremely thorough, which I greatly appreciate - my teeth and gums feel so clean, and that's my main reason for going to the dentist. And Dr. Nikitayev spent a good amount of time examining my teeth and answering my questions. I've been lucky to have never had any major problems with my teeth, but with previous dentists, I've sometimes felt like they just breezed right through and hardly examined my mouth at all. I would never, ever recommend this business in a million years. If they were the only dentist in the world, I would rather pull my own tooth with a pair of pliers! Unfortunately all the problems that I have experienced with this practice occurred in the front office. I absolutely loved the dentist that performed my dental work but having to deal with the front office staff is not work the trip. I had an onlay done on 11/15/15. Their standard practice is to pull you out of the dentist chair and have you make a payment BEFORE ANYTHING is done. It is not necessarily a bad thing accept for the fact that staff is so incredibly rude about the process. I would also warn that if you need any paperwork for your insurance company to process a claim or reimbursement then good luck with getting the paperwork in any reasonable period of time. If you need a dental bill, you will be told that the request needs to go through their fiscal office. I did receive a dental bill about a month later, that I submitted to Alfac, only to find out it did not include such basic information like the tooth number!! Now when I call back to get a correct and accurate invoice, they hang up the phone. I still have not received a correct bill that I can submit to my insurance company as of this date!! They are so incredibly unprofessional and rude it is beyond belief that this would have in a society when there is a dentist office every 10 blocks. However, now that I think about it, the rudeness came AFTER they received a full payment. Clearly, I am not saying they are dumb. They are smart enough to get paid first. Use Yelp, Google, your insurance provider to find another practice. Do not go to Modern Dentistry where they treat people like we are living in the stone ages! read more
