They did exactly what I wanted. Great place to go if it is your first and you are nervous. They both made me feel at ease. Looked at a few places before deciding on Modern Age for my first tattoo and I'm so glad I chose this place. Even though my design was super simple Jimi never made me feel that way. He took the time to explain and suggest a few different things. I came to Modern Age when my cartilage ear piercing that I got elsewhere became infected. I was a little turned off when I first walked into the shop, because nobody was there to greet me or even let me know how long I'd have to wait to be seen, so I docked a star for that. Carmen was great, removing my original piercing and replacing it with a new one, talking to me and letting me know what she was doing each step of the way. I did notice in another review that she had asked the reviewer to hold things for her - she did ask me to open a bag for her, but she had already put gloves on so I figured that was the reason, and it really didn't bother me at all. It's been 2 days and my ear is healing really quickly. Definitely worth the trip. read more

I got my first tattoo last year. Jimi was very patient and helped me design my rose which I put on my right ankle. I was very satisfied with the result. Last month I stopped by Modern Age to talk to Jimi. I wanted to tattoo my left ankle with Hebrew writing. I showed Jimi some samples and he assured me that he would be able to do it. I wanted the word "Shalom", which means "peace" written in Hebrew lettering. We made an appointment for the next week. This is a review basically just for Bobby Meyers that works here, I haven't met anyone else. I've gotten a fresh tattoo, a complete coverup and had an old tattoo reoutlined, shaded and added to on separate occasions all by Bobby and I am very happy. He did an amazing job on my fresh tattoo, I mean he even captured the look in the eyes of the face I had done and he was only going by a picture of a drawing I printed out. Very impressive. I had been recommended by a friend of mine to request Bobby and I'm glad I did. I say I'm done with tattoos at this point but who are we kidding here, of course I'll be back. I got all of my tattoos here, I have 4. Robert, the owner did my first and Bobby did the other three. They're both great but I love Bobby. He does really good work, has great ideas and he's really focused and into his work. Any time I plan on getting a tattoo I'd want to see Bobby, he sits in the first chair behind the window. I was in town and wanted to get a tatt Ive been thinking about. It was late but I called and they let me do a walk in... They were busy with other people when we walked in but they got to us in a pretty quick amount of time so I was happy to get in the chair and get started. (It helps to already know what you want when you walk in) Bobby was done first, so he took me and quickly got started on my back tattoo. It came out great, and not too painful. (Bobby was super quiet, I guess he was focusing.) After I was done my daughter got hers done by Jimmy. He was great, he listened to her ideas and quickly drew it up. He drew a beautiful lily for her and customized it the way she asked. He was alot of fun, very friendly and playful..he really made the moment memorable. As far as cost, they were a bit expensive, but they came out great and I focused on the quality instead. Overall, this was a great experience, and I would recommend either one for a tatt. read more

I wouldn't recommend getting pierced at Modern Age Ltd. The "professional" piercer, Carmen, wasn't too keen on remembering a handful of basic cleanliness practices. She almost forgot to put on gloves before she opened the bag holding the clamps, and asked me to hold things for her during the actual piercing process. I can't stress enough how unprofessional she was about everything. I took care of my labret piercing very, very well, and was rewarded with a crooked piercing once the swelling completely disappeared. I returned to inform her of what she did, and she had the nerve to accuse me of being at fault. She claimed I 'played with it' too much. I hope no one else has to deal with this woman's horrible work in the future. read more

Just a bit disappointed with my experience... I'm a local but I made a mistake of getting a tattoo done as a walk-in. I wanted something fairly simple done (shading to cap off my shoulder), I felt I was overcharged; mind you I have been to four different tattoo artists and two different parlors and for some reason this tattoo came out sloppy. The entire process didn't feel right from the beginning...The lining up top just isn't tailored to my body it literally looks like somewhere drew on me with a sharpie. I stated clearly that I did not want any ink on my trap/neck area and there are 3 small lines that run about an inch wide. At this point i'm going to spend more money either getting a tattoo to cover it up or getting it removed. read more

DO NOT BUY BODY JEWERLY FROM THIS PLACE. I purchased a Belly Ring from here a week ago and the top came off within a minute of wearing. I came back and explained to an older woman there (she had an accent and short brown hair) and she would not replace the belly ring top or provide one bit of acceptable customer accommodation. read more

A spur of the moment piercing led me here since I was in the area. The shop was empty and the woman behind the counter greeted me and we discussed which piercing would work for me. Came to get my nostril pierced by Carmen, who was great. She was very friendly and knowledgeable and she made the experience much less daunting. I docked them a star because I had originally gone on a Friday and she wasn't there - she is only in the shop on Saturday - Monday, I believe. From what I saw on the website, it doesn't say the piercing shop operates on a different schedule than the tattoo shop. I will definitely return if I decide to get any more work done. read more

the guy was very messy did not look like he knew what he was doing. and he had said that he had no idea what he was doing because his wife did most of the work and she had stopped working there. so it made me feel uncorfable. he really did not explain much about it or how to clean it. and didn't give me much space to breath. he was very unprofessional about the piercing. he was late and smelled like beer and look confused. when he put it in and I started crying he kept touching it even though I was in a lot of pain and couldn't breath. read more

Called and they said they would do my Tat at a certain time. I drove 45 min and they played dumb. Wouldnt give a straight answer why they LIED. Staff not to bright nor customer friendly. I know its a Tatto place and you think tough guys but it is a business and for sure lost mine and my friend. Was going to have around $1500 for me and $200 for my friend. I was a stupid 18 year old about four years ago, and I decided to get a tattoo to piss off my parents. I was silly because I went to the first tattoo parlor I found, which was this one. The tattoo itself was okay, but my gosh I didn't like my artist. Or any of the people that worked there. They made me feel really unwelcome like I was some sort of alien or something. This place is great. They do amazing work. I have had all my tattoos done here and have been going there since shortly after they opened. All the work they have done has always came out good and I have never needed any touch ups. Years after the work is done the colors are still good. I wouldn't go anywhere else to get any work done. Ok, I've wanted to get my rook pierced forever but I was afraid because I've heard it's one of the most painful piercings. One day I decided I was just going to do it. I looked up piercing places and this one seemed to be pretty decent so I headed over. The guy who did my piercing was nice and made sure the earring was gonna be where I wanted it. The first red flag was that the guy DID NOT STERILIZE THE EARRING BEFORE HE PIERCED ME. Obviously I should have said something but I assumed he knew what he was doing. Then, after the earring was in my ear, the man was struggling to put the earring back together and rustling with my new piercing. So immediately when I got home I tried my best to clean up the piercing and after the first 3 days everything was totally fine. I know how to clean piercing and I know I did everything right. On the fourth day with my new piercing, I was in excruciating pain all day. I knew this wasn't normal and so that night I took I picture of my ear because I couldn't totally see it in the mirror. It was swollen and there was pus leaking from the piercing. I started to lose hearing in my ear and I had enough of the pain so I took the earring out. I went to the emergency room and now I'm on antibiotics. I'm not sure about their tattoo department but for sure don't go here for a piercing. read more
