If I could give this place a Zero I would. Not only are they overpriced for body piercings . But are very unprofessional I went to get a nose piercing I explained to the guy how I wanted it. He continued to argue about where it should go which was very high, he then proceeded to do the piercing. Afterwards I Told him it was at bad place and didn't look right and it was giving me pain. He still argued and I was left with no piercing and lost of my money. As we were heading to the doctor to find out for sure- she had me call Anthony about the possibility of having to remove the piercing. So I have A LOT of history with this place. This is, unfortunately, the most accessible place for me to go for piercings. Let me start off by saying, I've gotten my naval pierced, my monroe, my septum, my nipples and more recently my snake bites done here. My Monroe closed up twice while trying to put in new jewelry, after having them in for months. My nipple rings never healed after 5 months so I took them out. My most recent snake bites are not placed properly and do not compliment my lips at all, whereas my friend got his done and his look way better than mine but was done by a different person. I didn't like where they were marked and brought it up but was told that that was where they're supposed to be and of course I listened because they're the "professionals." Let me just say this, there has never been a time where I wasn't ripped off or that they attempted to rip me off. As time passed, I stopped letting them encourage and intimidate me into paying more. You said $35, I'm only paying $35. I'm not buying your overpriced cleaners (the last time I literally went on amazon and got everything they offered for like $15 right in front of their faces) where they were charging $20/cleanser. For my nipple rings I was quoted $35. After they did them they charged me $100+! I smiled, paid them, called my bank and told them what happened and got my money back. It says they're temporarily closed and I'm praying that it's so they can clean up their acts and get rid of the scam artists they have as employees/management (if you can even call it management). They refuse to give me all or even any of my money back when the original piercings lasted less than 2 weeks -- what sort of retroactive "solution" is that? They clearly do not stand behind the quality of their services. Attached are photos of my piercings lasting less than 2 weeks, Anthony saying it's "ok" to remove the piercings to clean them, and Anthony ignoring my request for a refund. (If you're not completely satisfied = 14-day return policy, anyone???). "Anthony is very "charming" but essentially a con artist - I went in for info on helix piercings & they convinced me to do 3 frontal helix & 3 cartilage on the spot, saying they'd give me the jewelry for free. They charged me $500. (For reference point, Lola's in Bogota wants $90 for a triple helix, which includes the jewelry). Anthony did my piercings at the Palisades Mall (meanwhile he has 0 tattoos & only 1 lobe pierced) - the piercings were uneven & would not heal properly. The backs kept falling out and Anthony actually suggested I take the piercing out to clean it, which made the hole close right up! He "unfortunately" could do nothing to remedy the situation (aka no refund, partial or otherwise). After a few nights with the piercing in, it had fallen out overnight. I called Backstage to ask what I should do and if I should go back to get it re-inserted by a professional. I had to pay $40 for the re-insertion with a new ring that turned into a re-piercing which I thought was excessive to pay considering I still had my original nose ring they could have used. read more

There are many stores in the Palisades Mall to fit your needs, and Backstage is no different. The store is well laid out and with probably the best collection of hip clothes in one location, If you look around the place, there isn't a dull or bland spot anywhere inside. T-shirts, jewelry, hats....the list goes on. Place is well laid out in that aspect. The prices of most items are on the high end, so be prepared. I'm a little past my clubbing days, so I never needed to purchase clothing from here, but if you do be warned about the price. The place also does tattoos and piercings. Eduardo is an excellent tattoo artist - we've gotten 3 from him and were always satisfied. He's very talented and does great work. If you do get a tattoo, don't purchase the Aquaphor from here. It's very overpriced - there's a Target a few steps away that sells the exact same thing for a much cheaper price. The staff could be different at times, sometimes friendly, sometimes......well there. Make sure you price check with everything. Music inside is on the loud end. The pierce was too high on her nose which she told him she didn't want it that high but he kept persisting it was where it needed to go. I had a great first tattoo experience here. All the employees were friendly. I don't remember the artists name, but he did the job quickly with very little pain. The tattoo was even better than the reference photo I brought him, I love it! I was quoted $75 for the same tattoo at another tattoo shop at "modern age tattoo" but after getting super bad vibes from that place i decided to give this place a shot. Their minimum price for a tattoo was $80 so that price was fine for me. After the tattoo they gave me 1/2 off of a piercing, I already have a nose piercing so I just got a stud and an employee was nice enough to put it in for me. I have gotten 2 tattoos from here. Beautiful tattoos and they did a great job. I have many tattoos and I am given ointment and dream wrap to keep it covered for a few hours which works great. I decided to get my 3rd tattoo from them and they put this clear tape covering over it and I was talk to give it 4 days. Within a day, blood started to pool in certain spots which is not good so I took the clear adhesive covering off and it left a red mark around my whole tattoo so it looked like a bad sunburn where the cover was. I called and was told I must not have used the right soap or moisturizer. I have 13 tattoos so I know how to care for tattoos. Do not go to them! Besides this, they won't give you an estimate even with pics and instructions. This is probably correct tattoo practice but giving an estimate shouldn't be a problem. The people that answer the phone are stuck up and don't care, they just talk over you. read more

These punks tried to rip me off- scratch that- they DID rip me off, but they tried to do it even harder! HA! Let's preface this by saying of course you don't expect much from a tattoo parlor in the mall. I am, however, an ancient 35 year old who is far too tired to make a day of going to NYC for a piecing job. I lost my 15-yr-old cartilage hoop after it came out for a minor surgery last year, and I wasn't going to get it replaced unless I happened to be waking by a piercing place with time to kill. Today I was. I walked in and asked the dude behind the counter how much it would cost to replace it, and he quoted me $70- $40 for the piecing and $30 for the stainless steel ring. I laughed and said maybe some other time. Then he offered the whole thing for $50- which is still absurd but as I said, I'd put it off for a year so what the hell. (It's worth noting that the last time this thing fell out, I let it go for six months and popped into another piercing place at another mall with another five minutes to spare. They charged me $8, jewelry included, because it was an easy job- and I tipped the guy $20.) So this dude sends me in the back and the piercer spends about 3 seconds re-piercing the hole that's in my ear already. I check it out in the mirror and see that he's taken the liberty of giving me a bling bling fake diamond stud instead of the steel ring I'd asked for. (To match the one in his own ear.) I explain the mistake and he states gravely that he can't do a ring because it's a new piercing, but I can come back in a few months and have it changed. I laugh at him and say no deal. Then he says he can do the stainless steel but it will be more expensive. I say give me what I asked for. I finally get the piercing- and he allows that I can keep the ugly shit he originally put in my ear by mistake because he can't use it again. I say, uh, thanks? Then he spends a few minutes explaining the complex process of using the special antibacterial tea tree saline tinctures which he's going to give me a deal on for $30. I tell him I have soap at home. I go to pay and the same guy who offered me the 'discount' at $50 ACTUALLY TRIES TO CHARGE ME $100 for a god damned cartilage touch up. When I finish laughing, I tell him the price agreed was 50. Then he rings in $70, on account of I'm getting a free piece of jewelry I don't want, AND he's giving me a discount on the saline I told him 3 times I'm not buying. I stand there giving him the stink eye until he rings in $50, and THAT my friends, is why you don't go to the tattoo parlor in the mall, and you write a one-star Yelp review when you do. read more

They answered all our questions- including after care, and offered to change the piercings for free once they healed! This place is absolutely overpriced and unprofessional. All they care about is money. Last week my friend walked to ASK A QUESTION and ends up spending $45. First she asks about studs for her nose ring and they told her it was buy one get one free which at the moment we thought was a deal. The two nose rings turned out to be $20. Second, she asks for advice about an infection she had on her nose piercing. They walk her into the piercing room and looked at it and said "it's infected" as if we didn't already know that. Then proceeds to take out the nose ring she had in without permission and DROPS IT ON THE FLOOR. The piercer told her not to worry about it that he'll give her another one for free. He then proceeds to pop the bubble & put in a new piercing. Third, she inquired about a cartilage piercing. She just wanted to know the price and all the piercer kept saying was "let's do it!". The piercer just got everything ready as if she agreed to do it & kept telling her to sit down so that he can start the process. She ended getting the piercing & when we were leaving we agreed on the price of $40. When they charged her card a mysterious extra $5 appeared on the price. To this day we still have no idea what the f*** that was for but whatever. Today, one week later, we walked in because her cartilage piercing was swollen, painful and tomato red. No one asked her if it was painful, or for how long it's been like that; which these are basic after care questions. They automatically started talking money. They tried to charge her ANOTHER $30 to change the ring for her. We said absolutely not she just spent $45 last week here. The guy in the front desk proceeds to say "Well I'm doing you a favor by giving you the care oil for free and it's usually $14.99. So I'm kind of helping you out". Of course we DID NOT agree and the two men looked very upset when we walked out. Update: We just went to another place to see what they say. The new piercer said her piercing was never going to heal and that it was extremely infected. He even said the ring they put in was fake. We're now on our way to the hospital to get her ear checked. Wouldn't recommend for piercings....got my nose done a few months ago and it was pierced at a bad angle and never healed well which led me to take it out. After I got it pierced, this other guy came in to clean the piercing up a little better and started talking in Spanish to the guy who pierced me in a way that sounded like he was scolding him which was very unsettling to me. My friend who was with me agrees. Very overpriced; try to figure out how much the jewelry or aftercare products you want are worth other places before you buy them here. My friend also had a couple bad experiences shopping here for body jewelry. For piercings, I would definitely recommend doing your research and finding a reputable piercer to trust. Unhappy to be seeing such low reviews of this place. Went to the Palisades mall today and my best friend wanted to get her daughter's ears pierced. It was a random walk in for her daughter and nobody else. She was charged and asked for ID and we were ready. I quickly asked what the cost of a piercing in the cartilage part of the ear was and I was told $35. I never said I wanted it. The guy, who was this really skinny, I think Arabic dude, was pressuring me SO MUCH to get my ears pierced. Mind you my friend was already piercing her daughters ears and buying belly button rings for herself. The front desk lady seemed really clueless about a lot of things. When the daughters piercing was done, she asked my friend to pay more money. Why? Because she claimed that she was only charged for a piercing on one ear?!?!?!? Who does that??? What the heck!! So my friend ended up paying so much more than expected for just 2 ears pierced. Now the guy came back to me and was truly attempting to convince me to do mine. He then tells me that the piercing is $35 and that the earring costs $26. According to him the total would be $59.99. But is it $26 for one earring or for 2? Anyway, my friend had to let them know that I never said I wanted to do. I was just inquiring! She told them to not put words in my mouth. I was beyond disappointed. These guys took care of me after I had a piercing done. I lost the back to my piercing and they gave me a replacement for free. They didn't have to do that and could have easily charged me. But instead they took the time to match it up to the one I still had and gave me a match. They use needles, not a gun, for piercing so bonus points for them. read more

3 things. 1- two years ago I came in to get my tongue pierced. I wanted the typical piercing. Tony said I couldnt do that because my tongue was "too short" - so I got snake eyes. I'm confused as to why I was told the piercing itself was free but I still spent $120 .... 2- I got my nose pierced here 2 times. Both times I had to take it out because it just flat out HURT afterwords. I used the sea salt spray as well as a few other things to prevent infection. .. I went back, and they were plain rude to me so I left. 3 I went and got my semi colon tattoo ; it came out just how I wanted it. No flaws there. But - they told me a price before even looking at what I wanted - so when he saw it he tried to make me pay more. When I refused he was PISSED . (Granted I would be too but it was your mistake homie) - but the tattoo artist (Eric I think his name was) touched up my other tattoo of a cat I have , and completely fucking ruined it. So my daughter and I stopped by pallisades mall on a Thursday afternoon on the way home from a horrific 3 week hospital stay for her as a little "back to society celebration". We decided to get her a bellybutton peircing and a daith peircing for myself. I had pre-purchased the jewelry for my peircing, but was told that I needed to have it peirced with a curved barbell which had foregone a sterilization process. They showed me one with some bling on the ball and told me that in a month I could come back and have the one that I wanted put in free of charge. Being a 43 year old, old lady as piercings go, but no rookie as this was my 5th peircing, I know to trust the knowledge of the "professional" doing work on me. Flash forward almost 2 months, I went back with my jewelry for my daith as well as an eyebrow ring that I was having trouble getting the ball into. OF course, the jewelry I was promised to have put in free of charge "would not work", and neither would the eyebrow ring. The daith ring is not what I wanted, but I do like it better than the plain old barbell put in. However the eyebrow ring (which is 1 of two) that he put in is so small that it sticks straight out of my face and looks ridiculous next to its mate. I expressed how I wanted it larger than the other, after putting it in he told me that now I should get a smaller ring for the first whole. This is all bad enough, but he charged me for 2 rings, that I did not want AND FOR PEIRCING AN ALREADY PEIRCED EYEBROW. NEVER AGAIN!!! read more

Please don't come here for any services. They don't give you much information regarding what procedure you may like to get done, don't tell you much about aftercare, don't tell you much about prices upfront, and they make it clear that they just view you with dollar signs in their eyes rather than trying to establish an actual customer relationship. After I got my nose pierced, he also started recording me for the store's social media asking how it was pain wise/my satisfaction level, without even asking if I was comfortable with it (doesn't matter if I would have said yes or not. be respectful) On top of this, around my nose piercing my skin is a little darker, so I don't know what's going on there when I've followed what they said about taking care of the piercing. (They also spoke super quickly about taking care of it and everything to the point where I knew I'd be unable to remember well enough but luckily I did some research on my own to make sure I was taking care of it properly.) Additionally, it appears my other piercing, my septum, looks crooked. The total cost of everything came out to $150 for just two piercings. When I walked in the store, first thing I said was I wanted some more information on what I needed to know about getting stuff done because I was new to this; I assumed I would be walked through the situation and told what to expect/need to know and the costs up front. Instead, all they told me was, "let's do it!" and pretty much went straight ahead with piercing me. I didn't feel like I received the actual care I was looking for and felt like they just wanted to get me in an out and not sure they cared about how I even felt about everything. Also, whenever you walk in the store, they just try to sell you things you didn't even ask for, rather than try to cater to your needs. After discussing with some people, paying $150 for two piercings is absolutely overpriced, and I wish I was less ignorant about everything before walking in, thinking I could get some more information first, but I was instead just rushed to get the piercings + overpriced care kit + pay for overpriced cheap jewelry before I left. Please do yourself a favor and listen to the reviews. The one time I didn't check a place's reviews before getting a service provided, of course it has an overwhelmingly low rating on Yelp. They used eyebrow jewelry for my new tragus piercing, and the back fell off almost as soon as I got home. I couldn't screw it back on, as they had pierced my tragus at such an extreme angle I couldn't access the back of the stud. The curve of the cheap metal really hurt, and wasn't healing, despite daily cleaning, and through talking to friends with tragus piercings and the Internet I learned that proper first tragus jewelry is always straight, not curved, and not nearly as thick as the one they put in my ear. I stuck it out for a few weeks then popped a straight gold earring in, and the piercing started to heal, but the angle was still so extreme I couldn't put a back on the earring, which made me hyper-aware of that ear and cautious so as to not knock it out. Too much of my labor went into that piercing. I finally just took it out, not worth the hassle. $60 wasted They also definitely over charged, but when I refused to pay for the $40 sea salt spray they lowered the price to $10, which made me seriously question the ethics of their pricing. read more

These people are scam artists!!!!!! Dont go here!!!! i bought a bag and they told me it was 50 and they would give it to me for half price. Which is 25. Turns out the bags retail value is 25. It is 25 online and i met a lady with the same bag and she said she payed 25 for the same bag at dicks sporting goods. These men raise the prices so they can trick people into thinking they are getting a deal which is an insentive to buy. Its extremley dishonest way of selling. Went in here for a cartilage piercing, I don't understand why everyone is saying it's over priced. It's a business and you get what you paid for, if not try and find somewhere else to go. I think it's a reasonable pricing, guys who work there are very helpful.. Anthony did my cartilage piercing and recommended I bought the cleaning products, for cleaning purposes. We got a decent piercing here but it was ridiculously expensive and they don't really explain that from the get go. $140 for ear piercing. You think you're paying just for the piercing but then there's also the earrings, the cleaning solution (and you think they're giving that to you.) I visited this store for the first time a couple days ago and literally couldn't even give the store a chance because all the employees did was disgustingly and aggressively harass me and friends just as we walked in. Also they tried to scam the hell out of one of my friends when purchasing nose rings (they just started sticking them in her nose and giving her no information on pricing).
