I was in need of a great, dependable cobbler and had been in and out of research to find one for over a year. I acquired a vintage Balenciaga bag, but the cross body strap was too long. I needed a simple refinement of my bag strap and they were able to help. You will see the name Judy appear in many reviews for this cobbler. I was assisted by her team of guys when I dropped my strap off on a Sunday. The strap was ready by Tuesday, and the repair/revision was seamless. At time of pick-up, I seen a lady, and asked, "Are you Judy? You're famous in the reviews for this place." She was warm and funny, and shared that she did the repair "all by herself". I'm looking forward to having other items cleaned and restored by Judy, and can give a strong recommendation. One thing about this location, parking can be tricky but it's not impossible. Also, know what you want and be clear on your asks, especially with measurements and requested adjustments. This helps you get the result you want. Sustainability is so key in this day and age, if you have items that need a little refresh or shoes that need more support- bring them in. Try with one item, and go from there.

It honestly hurts me to leave a bad review for a local business. I genuinely try to support small specialty shops because they're rare and important. But Model Shoe is the perfect example of a business that survives only because there are so few options left in town. They essentially hold the monopoly in this niche -- and unfortunately, they act like it. I called ahead needing a specific leather dye to finish restoring a pair of leather boots. I explained exactly what I had been using, and the staff assured me -- twice -- that the product they were giving me was the same thing, just different packaging. I believed them, even though the price was almost 300% above market value. I'm happy to pay more for convenience and to support a local store, so the price wasn't the problem. The problem is that the product they sold me ruined my boots. When I called to let them know what happened, they told me to come in so they could help. What followed was one of the most frustrating experiences I've had with a business. The woman in the back tried to "fix" my boots by blasting them with an old electric fan, applying heat directly to the leather -- something anyone with even basic knowledge knows can cause further damage. When I politely asked if there was another option, she abruptly said she was "done" and handed me off to the owner. The owner came out immediately defensive. He grabbed two random scraps of leather (nothing like the leather of my boots), applied the dye to them, and insisted the product was fine. He blamed me, claiming I must have waterproofed or conditioned only half of one boot -- an accusation that makes no sense and is simply untrue. At no point did he take responsibility for giving me the wrong information. He refused to acknowledge the issue, and even suggested that if I had a problem, I should "go sue the billion-dollar company" that makes the dye. When I asked how I could repair the damage, he told me to find a leather shop because they "aren't one," despite the fact that they sell leather dyes and advise people on how to use them. No refunds were given or offered. The whole interaction showed zero accountability, zero professionalism, and zero customer care. I walked in hoping for help and guidance. I walked out feeling blamed, dismissed, and with damaged boots. I truly wish I could support a local business like this, but based on my experience, I cannot recommend this place to anyone.

Walked into this store last Thursday after being referred by another shoemaker who said, "They do good work, but they're expensive." That turned out to be accurate, except the "good work" part never happened. I brought in a bag with a ripped handle and even supplied my own hardware to make the repair easier and cheaper. At first, I was quoted $90, more than the value of the bag itself. After asking for a simple repair instead of the unnecessary extras the owner was pushing, he agreed to do it for $25, gave me a green ticket, and told me to come back Saturday. I couldn't make it Saturday, so I returned Monday instead. When I walked in, I stood there for several minutes before anyone even acknowledged me. Then they took my ticket and spent a long time trying to find my bag. During all of this, the owner, Peter, started yelling at one employee in the back so aggressively it nearly brought her to tears. Then came the real issue, absolutely no work had been done on the bag at all. Instead of speaking to me professionally, Peter stayed in the back yelling at employees and then yelling toward me across the store. When I asked how long it would take since the agreed deadline had already passed, he became confrontational and accused me of recording him simply because I was holding my phone. I was not recording video, I was typing notes. Rather than taking responsibility for missing the deadline and failing to complete the work, he blamed his employees, raised his voice repeatedly, and created an uncomfortable scene in front of customers and staff. He eventually refused the repair altogether, demanded the green ticket back, and threw my refund at me. This place is overpriced, disorganized, and run by someone with zero professionalism or accountability. Watching the way he treated his employees was honestly worse than the wasted time. No customer should have to deal with that kind of behavior, and no employee should have to work under it. Avoid this place if you value professionalism, communication, or basic respect.

I asked the shop to sew the wristlet on a clutch. The stitching on half an inch of leather had come undone. The first time I used the purse after getting it fixed it came undone. AND you could see that no one had stitched it. All they did was glue it together (I could have done that). I emailed them photos, as I was no longer in California, asking for a refund. No one responded. I called and the owner got on the phone and yelled at me and hung up. It was all a little wild. The charged me $20 for it, too. Same exact placement of dangling threads as when I brought it in for them to fix

Not recommended for high end work-sloppy, poor materials and inattention to detail. Do not take your Goodyear welted shoes here. Took a pair of Crockett and Jones Harvard loafers here-they are Goodyear welted, unlined and made of shell cordovan. It's a well made shoe so I was a little uneasy about taking it anywhere, but I had some previous experience with a good repair on pair of CXL Wolverines 1000 miles here as well as a pair of suede chukkas with gum soles, so I took the chance rather than wait 2.5 months to send back to C&J's Northhampton repair facility-this was a mistake. Upon receipt of my shoes, there were a number of issues that were clearly lacking: 1. The outsole stitch was unusually large for a dress shoe and lacked the density of the manufacturer. The stitches looked to be about 1cm vs. the manufacturer's 3 stitches per cm. This is a big deal as far as durability goes, as larger and fewer stitches will become frayed more easily and start separate from the welt. 2. The stitch channels were also uneven and looked clumsy. 3. The outsole looked to be of poor quality and had a rough and unfinished quality to them. 4. Perhaps worst of all, the lining had visible stitches (lazy) thru the insole. A Goodyear welted shoe should not be stitched thru the insole! This can damage the integrity of the shoe and make it harder to resole! Goodyear welted shoes have a rib that allows for this stitch. Additionally, this is an unlined shoe, so this is almost as egregious as the shoddy outsole work. 5. There was dried glue all over the shoe as if there was no quality inspection of the work. Do not take your Goodyear welted shoes here. I don't think they know how to properly repair them. It would be better for everyone if they just said upfront that they either don't have the equipment or skill to do the work.

A few months so, I was lucky to find an authentic CHANEL bag at a thrift shop. The inside leather was so damaged, many of my local shops were unable to fix it. I reached out to Peter and he was honest about the dry leather, and recommended I come in person so he could give a better judgement. It took about 2 months to repair, and it was worth the wait!! It looks brand new and he was able to restitch the double C. I have luxury taste but not luxury money, and Peter saved this beautiful bag. I would recommend him for any leather repair, I live 30 mins away and it's worth it to save things you love.

I guess I'll start by saying they did a great job on the re-welt of my friend's Red Wings. However, the most recent full resole for my boots was not very good. Firstly, I left a typed list of requests including removing old welt stitches. When I dropped them off, the lady at the counter ensured me that they would be removed as well. However, as you can see they were left in and stitched over. This is flat out lazy cobbling and very disappointing since I specifically asked for this. They also added a double midsole which I did not request or want. This will just add additional stiffness and weight. There was also a chunk of glue and sanding abrasion on the heel counter. Unfortunately, I will not be taking any more shoes here for this type of work, especially ones that have an appearance that I care more about.

Amazing experience start to finish. Judy did an excellent job stretching the calves of my knee high leather boots. I couldn't zip them up past the beginning of my calf when I brought them in but she did the impossible and made them fit perfectly - in a timely manner too. Can't recommend these folks enough! I am extremely disappointed in the result of my boot repair. My favorite pair of boots no longer fits and they completely changed the shape of the toe. They were rounded toes, now they're pointy and 2 sizes too small. i paid $200 for this. Also when I went to pick the boots up at the expected date, they had not started the repair. Very frustrating experienc. but mostly I wish I had my old favorite boots back and now they're ruined. read more

I recently received new shoes as a gift from someone and they look so great! The only issue I had was that one side fit perfectly and the other side felt more narrow. It bothered me so much and gave me so much pain but I thought that was just a part of breaking it in. It was too late to return or exchange so shoe repair was my only option. I'm only not giving a 5 star review because I ended up not getting services done. Otherwise they were very friendly and pretty knowledgeable. Okay, so I had this BEAUTIFUL, BRAND NEW IN BOX, high end, suede leather bag. I had had it for 6 months in a box in my closet. Finally, on Christmas, I decide to try to look nice and tote my new tote. Unbeknownst to me, a friend of mine let her 3 year old rub glitter lip gloss all over abs then she proceeds to kiss all over my bag. At the end of the evening, when I went home, I still hadn't noticed the stain. I made it all the way home to vogue in my mirror when I finally noticed the disaster. When I tell you I was LIVID!!!!! Seriously, doesn't begin to describe. So I set out looking for cleaners who could maybe save my bag. I sent pictures to a few shops and this one replied second. They said they could definitely get the stain out but it could cost up to $100. I put the bag back in the box, back in the top of my closet and sulked. So I sat on it for a while, with the assumption that basic at all was lost. This weekend, about 3 weeks after incident, I finally took the bag back out of the box and went down to this shop. However, when I took the bag out, the stain was almost undetectable. Thank you God, Buddha, Allah, and the Jupiter in lemonade (mercury in retrograde) for that!! When I got to the shop, the woman who greeted me took it and had a look at it and tried a few small things before handing it back and saying she thought it was best if I left it alone since it was nearly unnoticeable. I trusted her judgement because o don't want to spend more money just to discolor the bag. But I appreciated her attention and her candor about my problem. I'd definitely return in the future for other needs just because I appreciated the service and positive interaction she gave. I recommend trying them out if you have a need. read more

What a relief to find this gem!! I've gone through 3 other shoe repair shops over the years, and they've all had various downsides (poor quality or annoying lectures). I can say that Model Shoe Renew does high quality repair work AND has good customer service. I was heartbroken when I found my puppy chewing the zipper off a pair of booties I'd only worn twice. I just picked up my repaired shoe today and you can't tell the difference between the repaired zipper and the original. Be aware that the work is not inexpensive but I think it's worthwhile to pay someone well for good craftsmanship and a skill that is needed (and rare). I also got advice on how to condition, polish and wax another pair boots on my own. Last but not least, I didn't have time to peruse much, but they had a nice shoe collection. I'll def be back. This place is worth supporting. read more

Absolutely jaw dropping talent! I was a first time customer at Model Shoe Renew and I am so happy I have found such a talented professional to entrust with my 60 something year old purses. The first crocodile bag was a deep dark brown when I inherited it. It had suffered some heavy damage from a fully broken handle, to severely warped side panels and it smelt like a coffin. The transformation was far beyond what I had expected and to say I am pleasantly surprised is an understatement. I literally did not know the bag was actually reddish brown! The owner was also able to find a perfect match for the handle and was able to completely repair it (which I was not expecting). It was also in desperate need of a clean and conditioning and just look at that gem glisten! The second purse I brought in was in better condition but still needed a face lift. The dry and unconditioned leather strap broke clean off and the bag just need to be cleaned and conditioned. Again, I was so pleasantly surprised with how it turned out! Truly stupendous work. I have already set up my next time to come in to have a custom vintage leather jacket from Argentina refurbished and I cannot wait to see how it turns out. Highly highly recommend MSR to anyone needing just about any alteration, fix, re-staining, refurbishment, etc. The owner is such a kind and pleasant man to do business with. I am in awe of the service I received at Model Shoe Renew today! I took in a very special, one-of-a-kind handwoven bag that my friends from the Misak community in Colombia gave me three years ago. Since I wear it every day, the leather trim had faded badly and I was afraid it was a goner. Sure enough, thanks to the artistry of Rambo, the bag looks even better than before. He carefully mixed dyes until he got the shade that blended perfectly with the design of the weaving. And then the owner gave me a sample of the dye so I can repair it at home when needed. I complained when I was at your store and nothing changed you people felt the tips were good and attempted to fix the paint and it was still sloppy and did not admit to damaging the leather on the strap across the toes. Just got my bags back from The Cobbler in San Mateo and luckily for me they were able to repair the botched work done by Model Shoe Renew. The bag straps were shortened to the exact length I wanted and they were able to color match the edge coating very closely to the original. They did a much, much better job and they went beyond expectations, in person you can't even tell the difference unless you inspect closely. Very happy with their work and would highly recommend you go there instead. read more

Here's my regular place to get my shoes resoled and reheeled. Turnaround takes several days so be prepared to not have that pair of shoes for a bit. Service is always cordial. Edit: Resoling and reheeling my pair of chukka boots cost $69 after tax. read more

I had some shoes that the stitching had started to come apart on. Unfortunately, I waited until 3 days before I needed to wear them to take them in (fully expecting them not to be ready in time! That was my fault!). However, Model Shoe was able to finish them in time, polish them up, and have me looking spiffy in time! The workmanship looks great- you can't tell where they've been repaired, and they were super friendly! Cash is preferred there due to card fees and parking can be difficult, so plan for both of those! read more

Wow! I've had these little brown Chelsea boots for years and the sole started to tear about a year ago and I thought I was going to have to get rid of my favorite pair of boots. The first time I looked around for a shoe repair shop, I was told it would be over $100 to repair my shoes. I was devastated. Fast forward a few months and I decide to try again. Sent out a quote request via yelp messages and not only was this place the closest, it was also the cheapest. $65 to get my shoes to better than brand new was probably the best decision I've ever made! So happy with the service in store and the quality of my shoes!! I think everyone should try this place! read more

They ruined a brand new Gucci purse strap. I asked them to add four holes. I should have been worried when he started using his thumb to measure the spacing. When I said something, they used a ruler. After they punched the holes, I could see right away that the holes were crooked (see photo). When I protested, they refused to believe me and got defensive. I tried to get them to listen but they wouldn't. They even tried to use a ruler, but when I tried to show them that the ruler showed they were crooked they told me to leave. I cussed them out and left. Never coming here again and I'm posting this everywhere I can. read more

I am confident this is the best cobbler and shoe repair in Berkeley! I live in Central Berkeley and enjoy being able to fix all my shoes. So, I have tried all the other shops before this one, with O.K. results, but never anything that fully transformed my boots. Rambo at Model Shoe Renew did the most beautiful -- and careful -- job fixing every aspect inside and outside of my boots. They're friendly and knowledgeable, and let me pick out these sweet new red soles! They were also ready perfectly on time, to the hour. read more

I had the BEST experience with Model Shoe Renew for re-lining a leather purse. The interior was in horrible disrepair and I reached out to several repair companies prior to Model Shoe Renew and was quoted $400-600! Model Shoe Renew did an outstanding job for $106, including shipping both ways. They also included a free strap that matched the color of my purse perfectly and I can now wear it as a cross-body. These guys are 5 stars +++. I realized when planning for a camping trip this coming weekend that my beloved sleeping bag's zipper was broken. I honestly did not know if anyone would be able to repair it with such short notice. I went in to Model Shoe Renew today (Tuesday) and explained my dilemma, fully expecting to hear that it would not be possible to turn it around by Thursday. Judy explained that she would take a look at it and call me by Wednesday to let me know if it would be fixable. Imagine my surprise, when a few hours later, she called me to say that the zipper was fixed and I could come and pick it up!!! I drove down to pick up my sleeping bag and she was putting the finishing touches on it. Her co-worker, Martin, kindly offered any assistance while I waited. I have to say, the two of them were a hoot and shared a terrific sense of humor with each other and their customers. They are clearly invested in their customers and in the quality of their work. Any stress from my work day melted away in their company! I also want to add that they're open until 7 pm - so convenient for their customers. I have been going to Model Shoe Renew in Berkeley for over 20 years and I've never been disappointed with the quality of work done on my shoes and the quality of the products (i.e. shoes, bags...) purchased. I sent in my sons mangled Birkenstock Boston, they had holes and needed a whole new cork. It took basically one week to send them to Martin and to get them back! they look brand new! ....for the price it is so worth it to get new soles!! read more

My message regards the comments that Mr. Steven M. wrote about this wonderful shore repair place. I was standing right behind Mr. Steven waiting in line to pick up my shoes as usual every time I get a quality work that no one can compete with but Steven wanted more than that. he wanted to get a free shine just for the hell of it. The two gentlemen's who were trying to help Steven explaning to him why his shoes were black and no one changed the color. 1st reason: There were white stitches around the shoes that if you were about to change the color of the shoe, the stitches wouldn't stay white it would've been black. 2nd reason: The sewed interior of the shoe is black and if the shoes weren't black the interior would've been the imaginary color that Mr. Steven's is trying to come up with. Mr. Steven was rude, unwilling to listen, spoke to the gentlemen's with a very bad tone of language, he used Haynes and shameful words to them and if really his shoes would've been blue he would've at least asked them for a new shoe or demanded the full price of the shoe but Mr. Steven's was only asking for his $8.00 dollars back.. After Mr. Steven's realized he couldn't fool those two guys he threatened the store owner that he would write a bad review about model shoe renew. Listen I've been coming to this place for almost a decade my wife and my friends too... No one had any bad experience with this place as matter fact this shoe repair place is like no other and for a customer like Steven to come and try to give bad reputation to this place I wouldn't allow a good business like model shoe renew to be affected by someone like that person. Take it from me if you want to repair your shoes trust no one but this place. honestly Steven's wanted a FREE JOB!!! read more

If my shoes could talk, they would say mean things to me. "You treat us worse than you treat your men! And you never cook for us to make up for it." "Why do you insist on walking like a Clydesdale? It wears out our soles!" "For the last time, you really have to stop touching us up with Sharpie and eyeliner. It's degrading!" "No matter what you think, moccasin boots are not cool." And it's all true. When I fall in love with a pair, I fall hard. And_nothing_will get them off my feet. Because of my frequent wear, they hardly last more than a season and I end up mourning the loss until I can find a suitable replacement which often takes all year. In the meantime, Model helps me extend my love affairs. The owner, Peter, is my shoe therapist. He tells me what can and should be fixed and when to let go. Commendable are his assessments, and excellent is his technique. However, I've found that if you don't tell him exactly what's amiss, he may ignore obvious issues e.g. a strap held on by a paperclip needing a swift stitch to attach it. But maybe that's my bad karma for fence climbing in public. read more

I brought my beloved and beat up cowboy boots to Model Shoe Renew for a much needed TLC treatment. In the past, I've had poor experiences with other shoe repair shops, specifically Kensington Cobblers (don't go there). Being protective of my favourite pair of shit-kickers, I was looking for a shop that specialized in repairing cowboy boots. Upon the recommendation of a friend, I headed to Model Shoe Renew. I dropped them off on a Saturday afternoon (open till 6pm) and I picked them up a few days later, and admired the quality of work: one of the soles has been replaced and the hole in the boot was sealed. Plus they were given a beautiful polished treatment which made them look new again. For the quick turnaround, friendly service and quality of work, there isn't a doubt that Model Shoe Renew is one of the best shoe repair shops in the city, and it doesn't surprise me to hear positive reviews about them. Another bonus is that they're close to work which means I can drop off my other beat-up boots in for repair that I've been putting off for some time. read more

Hey, before I start Id like to reach out to those reading the recent 1 star reviews. Both accounts have under 3 reviews, and is most likely partnering up with a rival business, whatever shoe store/repair shop there is. I would be very upset if Yelp didn't take down those reviews, especially Miriam S's review because the only 2 reviews she gave were both 1 star. Counter productive to what Yelp is truly made for, and not to bash or harm the business in anyway. Model Shoe Renew recently put on half soles and heels on my girlfriends Micheal Kors, and the results were excellent. I am never put off by Judy or Peter the owner, and you can guarantee that IF they called you about a job there about to do, and they notice something it's because they don't want to be liable for the damage. They go above and beyond most shoe repair shops to ensure that they do everything properly. This is rare of a buisness, and I really hope no one gets turned off by these (fake & harmful) Yelp reviewers (Miriam S. & Lizzie M.). read more

The location of this shop is in the perfect spot. Right next to my favorite brewery, so I had to try it out. It was my first time coming to any type of Shoe Repair Shop. I put my favorite Steve Madden boots into the care of the owner, Peter. He was very friendly and explained thoroughly exactly how he was going to repair my shoes, when to pick them up, etc. My boots were in really bad condition, soles falling apart, zipper broken, leather water damaged and scuffed.... I didn't think they could be repaired but in 3 days I came back to the shop on Shattuck and was seriously amazed at the "new" shoes that were sitting on the counter. Peter and his shoe repair crew worked wonders on my boots and made them BEAUTIFUL again. I will definitely be bringing more shoes to be repaired here. Lat week i went to model shoe renew on my way home to see if they can fix my favorite pair of shoes that i couldn't find another like- long story but i love these shoes and i've had them for 15 years! The man in there was very kind and gave me 5 different option on how should i get them fixed and he took his time for each option to explain to me how he was going to fix- Peter was very kind and honest shoe maker, when i came back to pick up my shoes they were amazing, very clean, very new like and i have to say wow this place is great so i bought few other things too from his store he had nice collection of purses and wallets i think you have to come to check this place out give it a shot you will not be sorry  I sent my husband and he was very pleased with his work too. really very kind person by the way i went to couple other shoe store and none that i've been at are as good and clean and organized as this place. I have one favorite pair of boots that I bought in a vintage store in San Francisco about 5 years ago. These boots are my one true footwear love and I've never found any pair of boots that compares. The wear and tear of the cold San Francisco weather and the vigorous inner city lifestyle means these boots have been busted so many times. The heels have been worn down, the sole has come away form the actual shoe bit (not a very technical term but you get my drift hopefully!)... I've often been told many a time by other show repair people that "there's no way I can fix these" etc...Not this place though... They are my shoe repair Gods! I love them so much as no task is to big or too small. They will provide you a very efficient service, quick, easy and honest work ... total miracle workers.Your shoes about to die? One of my buddies recommended this place to me and i decided to give it a shot. I had a water damaged, sole falling apart work boot that I've had for a while now and took them into Model Shoe Renew. When i told the man what i wanted repaired, he gave more than one choice i could choose on how he would repair them. He surprised me when he said he guaranteed his work and promised to bring my boots back in shape. I came to pick them up a couple days later and he did a really nice job. The boots looked great! All the water stains were gone and the soles were brand new. After i had the boots i was looking at their selection of boots they sold. I found and bought a pair of Wolverine Boots that were perfect for my job. I purchased them and the man gave me free water-proofing and a free stretch if i needed to. Do you have a pair of cowboy boots you need repaired? Well then bring them on down into Model Shoe Renew PARTNER!! Anyways, brought in a pair of vintage cowboy (cowgirl) boots that were in dire need of repair. The lining of the inside was all sticky in between and was falling apart the soles had holes and them and it was just a mess! I took them to Peter to see what he could do and he was completely confident that he could fix them. He told me what he was gonna do to the soles and how he was going to fix the lining and i was all for it. Afew days later picked em' up and they were a pair of brand new boots. I really couldnt beleive it. This place is amazing im bringing a whole handful of my shoes to get repaired here. So giddy on up and git yourself to model shoe renew.. YEEHAA!! :) read more

As a disclaimer I don't really know anything about shoes, so maybe this review will be helpful for other shoe ignorant...shignorant...Yelpers. The only reason I visited is because its close and my mom told me my favorite pair of shoes looked "pathetic". I'm suspect there's something more to be done to resurrect my pathetic shoes but these folks won't be the ones to do it. Just went for new soles and laces. I was told they don't make the soles for my shoes anymore, so they would have to use some other sole and "build it up" to fit. Whatever that means, its obviously an improvement but not what I would consider a great job. $60 for a re-soling, which seems steep. The wait time was also 5 days, which seems like a lot. I'd go back if a I desperately needed work done, but shop around. read more

I'm so coming back... It doesn't get better than that place ( model shoe renew ).... just ask! these guys are busy but they always take their time to help. I was so ready to throw my shoes away but I figured I'd take'em to that place... I was amazed by the excellent customer service... that handsome guy and the older guy with the accent took their time explaining what it needed to be done... at first I didn't believe what he was capable of doing... 3 days later I went to pick'em up and WoW they are better than new... they placed new bottom and heels and repaired the holes that were eating my shoes away and shined'em up good...If I have to say anything about that place is that I think they have some of the best customer service... Lat week i visited model shoe renew for some repair on my daily walking shoes. I needed a heel lift so it can adjust my feet and when i went to see peter he was so kind to me. he offered me the best customer service. peter took his time to make sure i understood what he was going to do and there for i trusted him with his work before. when i came back 3 days later to pick them up he did a wonderful job on my shoes. i'm an old woman and i've been going there for years and i really think that model shoe renew has the greatest shoe repair and customer service. i appreciate the work and effort that peter puts in not only on my shoes also on my daughter shoes. i don't think this place can be replace with the quality of it's work nor the customer service that they have. read more

I brought in my hand made sandals from Greece that I have worn for 2 summers straight. They were falling apart and needed some serious help. I researched some shoe repair shops and came across Model Shoe Renew, I decided to try them out based on their reviews and guaranteed work policy. My sandals needed to be resoled, the straps needed to be conditioned and patched back to the base, and the buckle on the side needed to be replaced. I basically needed them to become like new. I didn't think it would turn out as well as it did but they turned out AMAZING. I am so pleased with their work and their customer service, Peter is very friendly and likes to joke a lot. Overall I would recommend this shop and I will definitely be bringing more shoes to be repaired. read more

I took my favorite pair of shoes to get them repaired. I had a big hole in the soles and the heels were destroyed. Peter took his time explaining to me on how he's going to do the repair and showed me different options to what kind of soles I would want. I felt good about that because no other place does that, (they usually take your shoes and tell you to come back in a few weeks)... but peter told me to come back in 2 days and they'll be ready. Fast forward time, I went to pick them up and OMG I couldn't even recognize my own shoes, they've looked better then when I bought them + he polished them up for free and did some water proofing... amazing job peter. I'll be back with some more shoes. yay read more

Being a hairdresser I spend a large amount of time standing. That being said shoes are almost as important to my job as my shears.Model Shoe Renew has been a god send when it comes to shoes. I have become partial to only wearing Dansko's. A truely remarkable shoe in all sorts of delicious styles and colors. Not only does Model Shoe Renew sell and carry a ton of different styles of my beloved shoe, but they also repair them after I have worn down the heel, battered them up, ripped seams, and the like for a completely reasonable price. I had previously taken my favorite pair of boots to another shop to repair the sole cracking around the edges, threatening to break free of the rest of the boot. No luck, should've asked for a refund, BUT at Modle Shoe Renew Peter turned the boot over in his a hands a few times, declared it "no problem", and asked if 2 days' time was ok. uhhh...yeah! Dropped off a pair of black boots with a broken heel at the same time, to the same effect. These puppies even came back shined, looking like new! I was drawn to this place by all the of the excellent reviews they had! I go out of my way to get here but its no problem for me because of the exceptional craftsmenship and quality. Bought these super cute brown frye boots from a second hand store but they were too big around my calf :(. (Stupid weight watchers) Anyways thought id take them here to see what they could do.Mind you i searched 4 other shoe repair places but none of them could do it. Peter said he did these types of jobs all the time and that he could have them ready in 3 days. WOW. alright so when i got the boots back they fit perfectly!!!! You couldn't even tell they had been altered. I was soo happy. Frye boots are super expensive and i got them for a steal at a second hand store. I've never been a Yelper but I had to write a review about Model Shoe Renew. I was really uneasy about bringing my leather bag for repair. My handmade all leather bag had gotten blue cheese dressing soaked into it. I didn't have any solution so I researched a little and found this shop. I ended up leaving my bag for repair and I am so happy about the results. The stain is almost unnoticeable and they gave me back my bag within 2 days. The man at the counter thoroughly explained how he was going to go about removing the stain and was very genuine. I will definitely be back to check out their shoes and drop more things off. WOW, this guy is good. And I mean REALLY good. I went here based on the reviews and I wasn't disappointed. I had a pair Birkenstock and some suede boots that I really didn't think were salvageable, and after a few days in the care of this guy they looked brand new... I mean my Birks were honestly I could say BRAND NEW!!! Seriously this guy have some serious talent... and my suede boots needed to be cleaned and restore the color and new soles and heels for them and I have to tell you when I picked up these shoes from that place I had a smile from ear to ear cause of such a good great work and awesome customer service...I'm definitely a repeated customer!!!!:-) read more

Amazing place, amazing people, so very kind and uplifting, very good at what they do, have used them for three pairs of shoes now and looked like new. Also just to point out their kindness and humanity I came in and was not having a good day and one of the workers/ owners could see it in my eyes and said some really kind things to me that made me smile but want to cry at the same time he is such a sweet human being to care about others like that. people like this deserve to be frequented, if your not absolutely satisfied with something give them another chance they aim to please 100%. 10/10 interactions for me.
