Long wait due to lack of employees and not detail oriented I am visiting here and wanted to get my nails done with my abuela on a Saturday, so we went here (no appointment) because the place we originally wanted to go to had a long wait time. When we first checked in we both got pedicures done, which went fine, but people quickly started coming in for both walk-ins and appointments. Since it was understaffed and they wanted to get through as many people as possible, I was asked to remove my own fingernail polish, which ok, I get it, but I have never been asked to do that before when paying for a service. We got our pedicures done, and I was moved to a station to get my nails filed and cleaned. I tried to explain that I want a rounded square as I normally would, to file down a little bit of the length and round off the edges, but I was still left with a lot of length and nails unevenly filed, and had to ask after I washed my nails to get them shaped again. I got gel polish, and either it was an old bottle of polish or bad technique, (or both) but it was applied very streaky and got my cuticles and around the nail, and at some points didn't cover the nail, and I had to ask for an extra coat. After analyzing it looking at the mistakes, I was told by the tech to "don't look at it so close" While all of this is happening, a bridal party, with appointments, came in to get a mix of mani and pedis and they were waiting for a while, and during this, my abuela is sitting under the toe nail drying station, the entire 45 minutes it took for me to get my fingers painted, and we had to wait another hour for her to get her nails painted, but someone walked in to get their acrylic nail replaced and they were seen to right away. Right when we were about to leave, a different tech than who did my nails finally comes over and paints my abuela's nails. we were at the salon for over 3 hours in what we were told would be a 50 minute trip, 30 min for pedicure and 20 min for nails. I gave 2 stars because my pedicure was good, and a color was achieved on nails, but there was a lack of detail, a long wait, and not enough people working. read more

I stopped here to get a manicure while I was visiting the in-laws in Texas for Christmas. I had brought my own OPI nail polish so I don't remember what brands/colors they had available. The nail technician who helped me out was a friendly and rather chatty middle-aged man. He had just gotten married recently and had a framed picture of them from a professional shoot on the table. Very cute! Overall, it was a pretty standard manicure. I did not feel uncomfortable at any point. He pushed my cuticles instead of cutting them and there were no "parmesan cheese grater"-type objects since I wasn't getting a pedicure. I asked him to shape my nails squoval and he did. Two nails broke as soon as I got home and the nails felt mushy so I went in today to get the whole set removed and get a new one but the whole time the SAME lady from yesterday was sighing because I kept tensing up & she said "relax i don't cut cuticles" but whole time she was cutting my cuticles haha. I went here bc I figured it wouldn't be as busy as other places. I walked in and they weren't busy. They said it would be 5 minutes and told me to sit in a pedicure chair. It is right before 4th July and a weekend so I figured I'd wait even though I assumed it would be longer than 5-10 mins. I had a book so I wasn't too worried about it. 50 yes FIFTY minutes later they came over. I'm sure you're thinking "what kind of moron would wait an hour if they felt this way?" A really trusting "this can't be real. I'm just super impatient. Surely they're about to be done. Ignorant moron" ..... putting shoes on other customers / wrapping up type of "almost done" acts. They did not even pretend to hurry or care. I only continued to wait because it kept looking like they were finishing. They took another walk-in before me (maybe she had an appointment?). Regardless never apologized for the wait or acknowledged how inefficient they were. Every time I got up to leave I thought "well I invested this much time... they'll be done soon enough and I don't want to start over at another place.." This place is low grade. The people are not friendly. They do not have a large variety of colors- seriously it's like two shelves. No wine. This is only like my second negative review ever, but avoid!! Having my left foot and below knee leg amputated in a few weeks, so I decided I'd spoil myself a bit by visiting Model Nails. They treated me very well, taking great care not to do any unnecessary damage to my bad foot. I was treated well, was very comfortable and left with my feet and nails in much better condition than when I arrived. I visited them with a very delicate condition and they did perfect. Not satisfied with the long wait. Was told 25 minutes after 2 and a half Netflix episodes later I was finally seen. Tools weren't sterilized. Napkin wasn't even changed from the previous person. I was very curious about this place because I've tried 3 nail salons since moving to new Braunfels and this place was the worse of three. I picked my color and it came out horrendous. I told the lady tech that the black was streaky on the base coat before my glitter and she blamed it on my hand didn't go far enough into the shellac dryer. She continued to try to cover the mishaps with the glitter later which made it look even worse and now bumpy. Very dissatisfied and will not be going back. read more

Their recommendations were spot-on with what my daughter and I requested. My spa pedicure was so relaxing and my daughters ombré acrylics came out beautifully! Let me start by saying I hate to give a bad review... but considering I have had multiple bad experiences at this place, I feel the need to let the public know not to waste your money here. Whenever I am visiting my parents, I will go with my Mom to get pedicure's here. This is the ONLY reason I gave it more than one chance. The first time I went, the nail tech was watching t.v. and rubbed the side of my foot raw with the pumas stone. I ended up getting a huge scab that did not go away for a week! The second time I went, they sat me in the pedicure chair with my feet in the water for an hour before anyone came and started working on me. The last time I went, they pulled out some sort of parmeson cheese grater looking thing and went to town on my feet.... maybe my feet were dry, but seriously I don't think I needed something the size of the womans forearm to 'grate' the skin off. Then she showed me what she had gathered from my feet! (gross!!) Not to mention, I believe it is against TDLR rules to use such tools. My toenails were all filed diffirently, some round & some square. She only put one coat of polish on my toes and I had polish all over my skin. My 12 year old daughter could have done a better job! The last pedicure was so bad that I got it re-done 3 days later. I went to milk and honey spa in austin, tx to get it fixed. Let me tell you, the girls there know how to do a pedicure. Ask for misty, she's great. I will never go to model nail again. If my Mom drags me along the next time I visit, I will opt to hang out in the car while she gets her pedicure done. I am in the beauty industry and am still considering contacting TDLR about the cheese grater thing.... also- I have seen them double dip their waxing sticks- which I know for a fact is against TDLR rules, and it's disgusting. read more

I normally don't make reviews but I used to come to this salon regularly but I moved have been going other places. I wanted to return because they always did a good job. The hours show that they open at 9:30am online as well as on their doors to enter the salon. This is the THIRD time I have attempted to schedule an appt and everytime I have called, no one answers. I figured maybe the number online was wrong, but no. I drove to the salon around 10ish and they were closed. Today was my last attempt. I never leave bad reviews- you can check my account and see all other reviews I've done have been 5 stars- but this visit was too bad to not leave one. I came in with my Aunt and we saw these really cool cat eye examples the place had. I chose c-013. It looks black with a cool pink cat eye. What I got looked NOTHING like the picture. My nails look like a sparkly gray with a bit of pink metallic. The lady sat there and argued with me that she did the process correctly yet my nails looked nothing like what they advertised meanwhile my Aunt's, who did the red one, looked exactly as pictured. The nail salon did little to remedy the situation. They argued with my aunt the whole time, said the only thing they would do is have me come back after our movie to redo them- but I didn't have another hour and a half to spend on my nails as we have other things we have to do today. So here we are- spending $45 for ugly gray nails. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! I know a lot of people go there to kill time before your movie at Alamo Drafthouse, but do yourself a favor and go browse Tuesday Morning or something instead. Pros: We had to buy tickets to a later screening of the sold out American Sniper playing at the Alamo Drafthouse a few doors down so we went here to kill a couple hours. The shop was closing in 10-15 minutes but the staff were nice enough to stay late. The woman who did my friend's nails was a doll. She was so funny. She kept asking how she was feeling, if she was alright and being generally engaging. My guy didn't say anything but I'm ok with that because I prefer to sit back and become one with the massage chair. Cons: I wasn't blown away by my pedicure. I've had better and I can do better at home. I thought he was going to exfoliate my heels right off with the cheese grater mechanism but when I got back that evening I could feel they were rough in areas. I had to go back over them with my Diamancel file (best files on the planet). The polish was a pretty color but he didn't get all of it off my skin. I also thought they lacked in polish selection. He didn't bother to file my nails down. I had cut and shaped them a week or two prior but it would have been nice if he would have touched them up. For the price and what we needed at the time it worked out. If I was going for a good pedicure, I'd either try a different technician or different salon. read more

My niece and I stopped in at this location prior to our movie against all the bad reviews. They were very disorganized with the clients. They moved me 3 times. DeeDee did my nails and she did a great job. I loved my nails. It was a new technique that I have never seen before. I personally had no issue until the nail color & design my niece picked looked nothing like the nail frame. The nail on the frame was black with a pink stripe. Because we were unfamiliar with this new magnetic technique we didn't understand the color of the nail was going to only be the stripe color. It actually came out brown instead pink. I tried to intervene because the lady was telling my niece she was wrong and that was the color she chose. My niece was getting very upset. I tried to explain it looked nothing like the black nail on display and the lady kept arguing with me. She kept turning the bottle over showing it was the correct number. I kept trying to explain that was the color of the stripe and that the nail would need to be painted black first before the striped applied. She offered to redo the nails after our movie but after arguing with us I didn't feel like going back and sitting for another 1 1/2 hours waiting for my niece to have her nails redone. Plus with the unprofessionalism with the lady that did my nieces nails, I didn't feel like being subjected to that again. It's a shame because I really liked DeeDee and she did do a great job. I was in town to see Los Lonely Boys and stopped by 2 get pedi and full set. I had recently mashed my middle finger in my vehicle door and my nail was turning black. The man that did my set was from Houston and is no longer there b/c I called 2 make an appointment wit him again. I called ahead to see if they could accommodate 4 girls for mani pedis. They said yes. We got there and they got us seated with our feet in the water and then we waited for 30 min. We watched them do this to several people after us. The whole experience was rushed and sloppy. My nails look like a child was trying to color in the lines. I have tried many nail salons in New Braunfels. I love Model Nails mostly because the quality you receive is provided with a super competitive cost. 25.00 and my feet feel great after my pedicure. They will scrub and scrub to get them smooth. They do not cut corners. The massages are fantastic too. You can also add a scrub for 5.00 without being forced to upgrade to a higher pedicure. Amazing experience about Model nails!! I accidently looked and went in Model salon when I was visiting my best friend in TX last week. Must say, it was more than I expected for a strange salon. The first pleased feeling I didn't wait for a long time in spite of no appointment. They also greeted me friendly and quite warmly. The atmosphere was so relaxing. I had manicure, that ok. The most satisfied thing was the salon 's staff. They are easy to talk to, and accommodating. Sometimes I heard they didn't speak English. I expressed curiously. Immediately, they talked happily to me about their country. It was wonderful. We really wanted if possible, I will travel there to visit the beautiful places. I called yesterday to make a Saturday appt. and was told to call back on Saturday. I called today (Saturday) and was told they were too busy and when I asked for an appointment for Sunday, they were also too busy ....Well, after almost two years of bi-monthly visits for nails, pedicures and eyebrows, I advised them that I would be changing salons. I have been here before yesterday, it wasn't my particular favorite, but my mom likes to go get her nails filled there when she comes to visit,so that was the plan yesterday(Saturday) We went in the lady said 10 minutes at most ,she put us in the tub,and we waited...and waited ...and and waited,finally once I was starting to get very irritated,someone came down and started on my my mom..cool,then I continued to sit and wait.An hour later my mom's pedicure was done,3 more pairs of people were coming in and I was watching them do exactly what they had done to my mom and I ,doing one of the pair essentially trapping us,i had no choice but to sit there and wait...i was sooo angry by the time the lady came to do my toes (after sitting in the pedicure chair for a total of an hour and 15 minutes) I said no thank you and left...The point of this rant is that nothing makes me dislike a place more than blatantly lieing about an insane wait time.Now I will continue to tell everyone who asks if I know a good nail salon (I'm a hairstylist, so im asked surprisingly often ),i will be sure to let them know my experience. read more

I have been going to this salon since 2000...I have never had a bad experience. .ever. Tu is THE BEST! I don't ever get my nails done, so I can't speak for that but the pedicure I get from Tu, is simply amazing! She takes her time, she's nice she's professional and funny;) Worth every cent! The most I've ever had to wait has been 15 to 20 minutes. .I drive from San Antonio to new braunfels to get my feet done with her! I would definitely recommend! And I like the owner Tina, she's just direct and straight forward and if you ever get a compliment from her or Tu, just know that they mean it,otherwise they won't say it..love this place! If I could give it a zero, I totally would! This place is ridiculous!! My friend came to get a refund for the horrible work they did on her nails. We get here and they starting arguing and offering to repaint them after she has already said she did not want that. While yanking on her nails they finally agree to refund her money but they have to remove the nails. Totally okay with that! So she sits down and while they're clipping her nails I take a seat next to her, they immediately tell me that I cannot sit there because they're customers sit there.... There are over 10 EMPTY chairs in the building. They're not busy at all, no one waiting for service. So because they're pissed off about being called out on their terrible service and issuing a refund, I have to wait in their EMPTY "waiting area". If you want good quality kind service, don't come here! WORST NAIL SALON IVE EVER BEEN TO!! Worst part about it is I didn't even get anything done. read more

Both ladies were extremely rude and rough making both of our hands bleed.
