I love this place. Peter and Nancy are excellent. The place is warm, friendly and very clean.

If I could give them 1 star I would. The guy sitting next to Peter does not know how to do nails. He did not put the top coat on my gel nails and Nancy had to fix them. She also cut the cuticles out, he claimed he did during the manicure. I would rather drive to my old nail salon an hour away, than go back. read more

I'll never step foot in this place again. I couldn't go to my regular place due to needing to go out of town for an emergency. I went here for dip fill in and pedicure and the tech clearly didn't know how to do dip. I really think he used acrylic powder and still painted my nails! It was very weird! My cuticles were raw from over cutting also. Two nails immediately broke later that evening so I called the next day and was told to come back in for repair. Another man looked at my nails and told me they looked grown out and he would "fix them" for me. He then proceeded to cut them down way too short and fill with some unidentified powder, even though I told him it's supposed to be dip. This person then tells me it will cost 47 dollars when I just came in for the repair of 2 nails and he chose to "fix" his colleague's work from literally the day before. In the end I still ended up paying 12 dollars. Beware this scammy place where the techs aren't even trained on the latest techniques. read more

First visit they made me wait 60 minutes to be serviced... I was on time. Absolutely unacceptable! Baffling that they let me sit for 30 minutes in the chair for a pedi with no water in the bowl... FINALLY I ASKED if I could at least soak my feet while I wait. Crazy slow with 2 people in the whole place. There was a tech who sat with a magazine and her phone... another girl came in after I had been there waiting at least 45 minutes. She immediately serviced her for a pedi as I continued to wait. Never AGAIN. I love good service and tip at least 20% when I'm happy with it. I even tipped well bc she did a decent job but took up 4.5 hours for fills and a pedi. Unacceptable in every way read more

WORLDS MOST RACIST NAIL SALON! I went into this nail salon for the first time requesting a gel pedicure and let's just say I should have read the reviews first. The first issue was when I asked for my feet to soak first, I was given attitude for asking a simple question. Second issue was with the male tech that started my pedicure. I explained how I wanted my nails to be shaped (squared) simple right? When I was asked to put my feet back into the water typically I like to check to ensure things are headed in the right direction to avoid issues and having to redo the entire process. I was asked "do you not want me to do your nails?" Then he followed up with "you are making me nervous you should just leave". I have never in my life experienced such discrimination. This is the most racist business I've ever entered. DO NOT GO HERE if you so much as have a tan, you will be treated differently it was very obvious my presence was not welcomed. I was never rude or unpleasant just wanted to be pampered and have my pregnant aching feet taking care of. read more

Model Nail Salon - I was asked to leave after having one toe done. - Nail Salons Near Me - Aberdeen, Maryland

Don't go here unless you want to be robbed. I came here as a walk-in. I was serviced fairly quickly and the staff was pleasant enough. I had an older gentleman do my nails. I'm not sure of his name. I got a full set and asked for square nails with round edges, but I mostly got square. I didn't complain. I asked for French tip, but the end result was slightly crooked lines, which can be seen in the photo. Again, I didn't complain. When it was time to check out, I wanted to leave a tip but didn't have cash so I asked him to add an extra $5 to the bill. When he gave me the receipt to sign, I noticed he added an extra $7 instead of $5. Did I complain? Yes! Because thief is where I draw the line. read more

Went once for the first time. Got a fill and gel color for myself and daughter. One thing that almost made me leave were no prices posted, that's annoying to me. But we had a tight schedule and we are checking out the Aberdeen nail salons to see which is our favorite experience. Overall, this place is okay. Make an appointment in advance, as walk ins we were waiting and I had to play musical chairs before getting a technician. They did a good job, $35 for service. Not sure if I am impressed enough to make it a favorite spot but I may give it another chance. read more

Model Nails aberdeen 11/23/19 Saturday Afternoon 12pm Attempt to get pampering I was trying to decide if to get gel or try the new dip color process. They didn't have price posted in the store, so I asked. There were booklets to use. I noted that he said the cost was $40 but their book said $35. Little did I know.. that was the start of bad service for me. I decided to get the dip color on my fingers and gel color on my feet. The soaking process was fine. As soon as he started the work of the pedicure, I explained that he should take his time being that my toe nails are sensitive and I don't accept anyone cutting my skin or hurting me. The first clip he made hurt, I reminded him to be careful. He continued and used the hand file instead which was fine. He then was smoothing the top of the nail with the spinning tool as a fat boy ( maybe his son) came behind and gave him a hug causing the tool to hurt my cuticle. He says, that the woman the child came with will now do my feet. Ok, I can respect that. He said I was making him nervous. I realized he was on the phone when he was working with me, so I guess he had her come just to "deal with me" because instantly her tone was rude and disrespectful. Yelling, " what color you want" I explained I wasn't yet sure but she could start and I'll select one. She yells at me again. I was silent contemplating if to even continue with them at this point. Ok now, I'm saying to myself. I'm about to pay close to $100 dollars for bad manicure and pedicure service and this Chick has an attitude and is trying to act tough. She yelled one more time. I said, "that's it, I am not going to stay here and pay you to give me bad service." At this point, the man had filed one toe. She said, take you stuff and get out. I took a picture of the place for Yelp. The woman starting taking pictures of me. I asked her why she was taking several pictures of my face. I shared that my picture was for Yelp ( probably Trip Advisor). Then he says, I knew when she came in. Knew what, that I asked questions. Why are service providers intimidated by questions? What's wrong with wanted pain-free , optimal service from a business there to offer pampering? I left and will never return. However, my feet were cold and wet on this late November morning/ early afternoon. My mood was spoiled as far as getting a manicure and pedicure and I was now not going to go anywhere else. Overall, there is this premise, that as a Black Woman I should accept subpar service and I refuse to. read more

DON'T. The cheap prices are intriguing, as well as being able to walk in without an appointment - but there is a reason for both of those things. I went to get my nails done this morning. I asked for a take off (old, acrylic nails), an overlay with gel polish. HE half-butt took "off" my nails (there was still remnants of the last set), he gave me a manicure, then proceeded to PAINT my nails with gel polish. I stopped him and said, sorry, I asked for an OVERLAY. He looked angry and annoyed with me (his personality never cracked a smile, asked my name, laughed... etc...) He proceeded to DIP my nails... I have NEVER had any kind of dip. NOR did he ask. They felt very flimsy- I had acrylic on for years and I needed a little more hardness to the base. He also could have dipped them multiple times and made the powder more even. I originally asked him for a few designs, even showed him a photo he agreed on. AFTER he puts the clear gel coat on, he says, "so, pretty? No designs, right?" Well, I guess not now! $2 fee to use my debit card on a 60 dollar tab. I didn't feel like 60 was bad for a take off, manicure & gel dip - polish... but I guarantee these may last a week, if that. The kicker, the nail beds look like my 5 year old niece painted my nails. GOOD LUCK! read more

I've went to Model Nails for years to get acrylics before I started doing my own. Needless to say, I don't appreciate anyones acrylic application in the Harford County area. But They were ok... Anyways I went here today for a pedi ONLY because my girls wanted to... The girl doing my pedi was kind but the lady over her was pretty rude.. She tried to play us like we were poor, asking "are you sure you want that? That's extra.." with such attitude. Like, yes I know. I didn't appreciate the sarcasm. Floor wasn't swept. Cup holders were dirty and sticky. Oh my gosh... Not ever again. read more

So...I hope this is the right place haha. I didn't catch the name of the establishment but I do know it's in the plaza with ShopRite and McDonalds and Riverside Pizza. Anyways, I went in around 1130am for a pedi and a gel fill. The pedi went well, then it came time to do my nails. The only real issue I had was that the woman who did my naila preferred to put the UV gel underneath the polish whereas I prefer it the other way around. She told me that to do it my way, my nails would take a long time to dry. Seeing as I get this done to my nails every three weeks, I wasn't phased because 15mins is not that long. BUT...it actually ended up taking over 30mins. Why? Because she glopped three coats of thick polish onto my nails. So when I asked her if I was almost done, she hit me w/ the "I Told You So" which really burned me up but I ended up waiting and letting her finish because I didn't have much of a choice. Aside from this, they got really busy because it was Easter weekend. There was alot of mismanagement of people and time but the worst was a woman who came in and asked how long was the wait. They told her 30mins. When she came back in 30mins, they had taken 4 more people and even took two more customers after she had returned. And then the man who told her it was a 30min wait, completely ignored her and seemed annoyed when she eventually left. Customer service is huge and this place has none. Don't go here. read more

THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. I went to this nail salon on the fly because my nail had broken and needed to be repaired. I chose to go here because it was at a convenient location and I could see from the parking lot that there were no customers. When I walked in, a female employee was kind and greeted me at the door and quickly had me seated. The man she had come to do my nails, Peter Nyguen, however was perhaps one of the rudest people I've encountered all year. First he came inside without his mask on. As 2020 is a hard year, I am one for giving people the benefit of the doubt. When I asked him to put his mask over his face, he got an attitude and said "If you cared you'd just stay at home." Mind you, he had the gall to say this to me after whining about how he's lost nearly all of his customers because of COVID. Strike One. I tried to meet him with grace and move on, then he continued to mumble things under his breath that are too inappropriate to type on Yelp. I asked him to repeat those things and he refused to. He then went on to comment on how he'd never seen me in the store before. His tone was accusatory as though my choosing to patronize his business was a cause for alarm. Stroke Two. He said he had finished my nail after two paper thin coats. I asked him to put more layers in to get the look that I asked for, after which he got an attitude and insisted that I lean forward to be even closer to him that I was when he did the first two coats. I asked him why, as I felt like his request was unnecessary and clearly a power move. He proceeded to YELL at me. At this time I got up and left. Though Peter has a COVID barbicide certification, I didn't not see anything get wiped down, sprayed, dusted, etc. When I left I saw this same man light a cigarette INDOORS and proceed to smoke at his chair. Though he did not plainly assault me with a racial epithet, it became evident that he was enraged that he had to service a woman of my racial background. If you ever run across this location, do not give them your money. In a year as contentious as this one has been, I have no tolerance for racial ignorance, or bigotry. It saddens me to see that after all that has come to light some people are still unmoved to change. read more

I made an appointment for 1:30 today for a pedicure. Did not get back to the pedicure chair till an hour later when I made appointment I asked for someone that could do designs, told no problem. When I picked out my color, I asked if I could buy the polish, again sure. Well, after not getting out till 4:15, I got no designs, I was told to wait 15 more minutes . I asked to be checked out 3 times because I had to meet someone at my house at 4 pm. I came here for an eyebrow wax and instead got a lecture and sales pitch on supplements and vitamins that would cure my psoriasis. I was rudely asked repeatedly if I see a doctor for my psoriasis and that my medicine was clearly not working and I needed to buy her iron vitamin and hers alone would cure my autoimmune disorder. All I left with was a waste of money and time and a horrible botched eyebrow job. She wasn't kind or friendly or trying to be helpful just extremely rude and unprofessional. Awful. I made an appointment at 2pm. I got a pedicure, eyebrow wax, and re-fill. They have a nail technician that does not know what the hell he is doing. My pedicure took over an hour, my toes were not cleaned properly, the guy spent most of the time trying to get the white nail polish off of my cuticles because he didn't know how to paint toes. I was very very aggravated. Then, he takes me over to the dryer to dry my toes and I wait another 30 minutes. I just think they shouldn't have people out there that aren't properly skilled. Put them through more training. I ended up leaving at 5pm when my appointment was at 2pm and there was close to no customers in there. Do NOT recommend. read more

I will never go here again. I came here with my friend and first they separated us, so our backs were to each other so we couldn't talk, then the guy doing my nails kept speaking a language I didn't understand the whole time to his co worker and didn't talk to us at all, just pointed when he wanted to tell me what to do. He could speak English fine because he spoke to us when we came in. The environment wasn't clean, and he didn't even ask me what kind of nails I wanted, he just went and gave me the gel kind. (The more expensive kind) on top of all that, he did my nails crooked. Just no a good experience lol. Try to be a little more friendly. read more

March 23rd, Saturday at 2:00 pm I walked into Model Nails to get a fill.  Without an appointment I knew I might have to wait but I was quickly sat at an empty station waiting.  Actually waited an hour before anyone even said anything to me.  I was then put at another station and the owner was in the back of the shop yelled don't put her there.  So I was moved again to another station.  Keep in mind there were only 3 workers there.  So I explained what I wanted which was my acrylic nails removed and a new set.  He said he couldn't do that so I was again put back in the 2nd station.  Most people would have left by this time but I had a banquet to go to and really needed my nails done.  So my patience was great.  I asked him to soak off the old acrylic as he started trying to drill them down/off.  So off I go again to another work station where I sat for at least 45 minutes with my fingers in a bowl of acetone.  Now I have been having my nails for over 20 years and know that it doesn't take that long to soak off.  Well here comes the only lady working there to start drilling off the soft acrylic.  She started with my pinky and it got hot to where it hurt and I pulled my hand back.  She apologized but proceeded to my next finger.  She did it again (heated my finger up) and drilled nearly to my nail bed.  OUCH!!  Well I told her she wasn't touching the rest of my fingers.  While this was going on the guy that was to do my nails took another walk-in and made me wait again until he finished with her.  Well now I am 2 hours into being at the place and I have to get home and dressed.  So asked him if was going to get out by 4:30.  He said yes.  He started drilling off the old soft acrylic without incident.  He then started cutting my real nails down to apply the tips.  On my thumb he snip my entire thumb skin under my nail to where it bled.  OUCH!!!!  What was I to do?  I needed my nails completed.  Well I got out of there at 4:40 pm (nearly 3 hours to do my nails which should have only taken 1 hour). read more

If I could rate this establishment @ no stars I would. This is my fourth time @ this shop and I'm left speechless. My daughter requested a pedi and I requested a mani; the manicurist wanted to drill off my cuticles, I declined. He went on to tell me he could not remove them; therefore, I told him I no longer required his services. I went back to the area were my daughter was waiting for her pedi and spoke to her concerning the matter; while speaking with her the manicurist came over explaining to her the situation and I told him there was no explanation needed to her. Another tech chimes in while my daughter and I are speaking and ask what are we talking about in a unprofessional tone . . . I responded this is my daughter and this conversation does not pertain to you. I told my daughter at that point lets go. The gentleman bring my day a towel to dry her feet and states I feel sorry for you; I turned and said excuse me...at this point I caught off guard. The other tech, while performing services on another patron, states no let them go...leave. The gentleman then states you're free, I replied you didn't do anything to my nails. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I'm not sure what has happened to this establishment, but I can see why on a Saturday it was empty. The customer service is horrible. read more

If we could rate this place a zero we would. My mom and aunt went here. Mom got a mani/pedi and they cut 2 of her cuticles on her hands and they are now inflamed and sore. When they got to the pedi, the woman doing it first spent half the pedicure yelling into her phone, then pulled the cuticle off her big toe the entire length of the nail causing it to bleed, then berated my mom for the dryness of her feet, telling her that whatever product she was using to moisturize wasn't working and that she needed to use whatever this lady was selling. Don't waste your money. I went on a Friday and asked for dip powder. By the following Tuesday I had to go to another salon to have my nails completely redone. I had never been here before but the first red flag is that they had me choose a color from jars of powder on the wall. If you have had dip powder before, you know that the color of the powder in the jar is not usually the final color. The color I picked looked pinkish-red that actually turned out to be bright, fire engine red. I could live with that, but over the course of a couple of days, my nails turned orange at the bottom while staying red at the top, with both colors being somewhat transparent. They looked awful. Also, I noticed small cracks throughout my nails. I suspect this is due to cheap product and incorrect process, as he used a UV light throughout, which typically isn't how dip powder nails are done. Never, ever will I go there again. read more

Awful awful awful. DON'T GO HERE FOR SNS. I asked for SNS, and somehow they were confused and started to give me an acrylic fill, when I noticed he didn't take off all of the SNS on my nails. I pointed to the SNS sign and he put away the acrylic jar and proceeded to remove the remainder of the polish. After I was done soaking my nails in acetone, he sucked the used acetone back up into the bottle that he poured it from!! Then he applied gel base coat. I asked him why-- I've never had that done before during the multiple times I've had SNS applied. He then pulled out the acrylic jar and dipped my nails in it, then placed my nails under a UV light. I told him to stop-- he wasn't using SNS, but acrylic, and that I didn't like the process he was using, and to take it off. He tried to tell me that it wasn't acrylic, but it was the SAME jar he pulled out earlier for a fill. I said to just take it off and I'd leave with bare nails. He then CHARGED me for TWO removals of SNS polish. Great! They only get one star because my pedicure was good--though I'm scared as to how well they follow good hygienic practices. read more
