Fantastic professional service. Friendly staff. Great work. Highly recommend. I looked for a place to get a dual dash cam installed for a couple of months but could not find a reputable or affordable option. Best Buy was inexpensive but bad reviews and only install their cameras. Not great feedback with install issues too. Other local auto electronics/performance shops wanted way too much for the install. $300 - $500+ to install. I even found the manufacturer of the camera system that I wanted to purchase had a local office and offered installation of their dash cams. But they couldn't install in my 2024 Honda Accord because my car was too new and they didn't have some of the needed wiring for new models. They could do it next year. I found Model Electronics after some searching. It is 25 minutes from where I live but local options in Hackensack/Paramus area did not work for me. I contacted via email and scheduled the install with Andy. Super easy. Installation is fantastic! Super happy with the results. No visible wires anywhere. Hard wired install. Great job all around. Came back a month later to get the same dual dash cam system installed in my Dad's Subaru. He is very happy with the install. Looks great. Charged a fair price to install in my opinion. Great price really. Very happy with that. They have a waiting room with drinks and a tv to kill time. Took about an hour to install each time. Quality work. Great staff. Fair price. This review is based on the two (2) experiences I've had with model electronics, Ramsey NJ. First experience (about 1 year ago) I was told there would be an additional charge because the job took over an hour. I suppose they forgot I was waiting in their waiting room for only 45 minutes. When I reminded them, they said 1 hour charge would be enough. If you ignore this review and go here, always wait for your car. If I wasn't there, they certainly would have up-charged me. Second experience (today), I made an appointment a week ago for a small "under 1 hour" job today. I called this morning to confirm it. Once I arrived, they told me I could not wait for my car. Their store was empty. It was pouring rain out, so I couldn't wait outside. So the only alternative was to Reschedule and leave or cancel. Nobody told me this. I had already taken the day off from work, so I just cancelled the job with them, and had it done elsewhere, where I was welcomed to wait, and did. I understand it's COVID times, but retail is allowed to be open in NJ and I was the only one there. If they had informed me of not being able to wait, I wouldn't be writing this review. Do yourself a favor, and book your auto work somewhere else. I don't typically write reviews, but 2 bad experiences out of 2 is a really not good in today's competitive market. -Ralph read more

My car amp was not working anymore and I was told by the dealer the amp was broken it would cost $1000 to get a new one. I brought my car to model electronics and they took out the amp to see if it could be repaired. They found nothing wrong with it and they performed a hard reset and it automatically started working again. I am so grateful of the time that Dan and the team at model electronics put into helping me out. I thankfully did not have to waste money on replacing an amp that had such an easy fix. I'm not going to lie. After reading a few reviews on google, I wasn't going to give Model a chance. But I took my chances and it was a great experience. My car was a complete mess, radio not working and not installed, driver window not working, after market audio system leftovers and a few other things out of wack! A complete mess!! During the process, Andy at the front desk was great, he kept me informed of each and every mess they were finding. He gave me a solution and price at once with no hesitation. Years ago my stock radio was doing this weird thing where the volume would go down every few seconds on its own. Went to OEM service center and they said the radio was bad but couldn't replace it. They suggested model electronics. Reached out, got them to take a second look and the amp or power supply was busted. Got a quote for a new radio that has both CarPlay and apple play. They called me when it was in stock, installed it same day. Great service, great job on the install and setup. To this day my new radio is still going strong without any problems. read more

Had my airhorn installed. It was a must! The Mercedes horn was, well...Lame. Wanted it under the hood for cosmetic reasons amd that made for a tight fit. With a little alteration under the hood, it's in, right behind the grill. Sounds Great! read more

Had a fantastic experience working with the Model Electronics team from start to finish. I called and spoke with Dan, told him what I was looking for, and he was attentive, sent me a few options, and was always responsive with communication. We talked everything through, decided what was best for me at the time, and I scheduled an installation appointment for a couple weeks later. I had a sub box installed, radar detector mounted, and wireless phone charger hardwired. Everything came out soooo nice, and I had the biggest smile on my face as I drove home from the shop. Wow, where do I begin? I unfortunately had to get an interlock device installed in my Chevy Cruze, and to be perfectly honest, I chose Model Electronics because they are very close to me. I can't tell you how glad I am that I chose them to take care of it. First of all, I was embarrassed by the whole ordeal, but I really didn't have to be! It was a 100% judgement-free zone. Another thing - - my device at one point was defective... practically broken, and I couldn't start my car. I had no choice but have it towed over to them. I felt awful because I know Dan and his guys already had their whole day planned, and here am I dropping in kind of unannounced. Dan and his guys couldn't have been nicer, and they addressed my car's issues with the device immediately. Talk about amazing service right then and there. I'd also like to note that this was one of many many times Dan would squeeze me in VERY quickly... never had to wait. Fast forward to now, five months later. I decided I wanted to look into getting certain safety features installed in my Chevy. I didn't for a second consider looking at other shops to compare prices and whatnot because I knew I would be in good hands. When I first inquired, I must've been on the phone with them for at least 15-20 minutes going over what they have to offer. They took their time with me, answered all of my questions, NEVER rushed me, and most importantly, never once tried jamming a sale down my throat. If anything, they talked me out of getting certain features installed because they thought it would be a waste of money for my car, which is honesty at its best. I ended up getting the backup sensors and blind spot detectors installed. I'm in love with them and I feel a lot more comfortable driving now that I have them. Again, Dan squeezed me in very early, thoroughly communicated with me throughout the process, and of course, was extremely accommodating. Can't imagine having a better experience at a different place. I'd recommend Model Electronics to everyone in a heartbeat. I've used this place twice now for two remotes starts and a dash cam. I would go again and recommend them to anyone. However, I just want to review a product I had installed there. This is just a review of the product that I am warning people about, not the shop! You should still go there for a dash cam, just don't but the one I did. I bought a UNAVI UGD621 for my new car. My car was hit while parked. There is more than enough damage that it should have triggered the event recording. But it didn't. I have tons of videos of my car just parked, no idea what triggered an event recording for those. But when I need it to find out who do this, nothing. Add this unacceptable event with all the other problems this camera has ( downloading videos just stops, software doesn't work with macs, app stops working saying it can't connect when you don't need it to because you're in download view, etc.) and it's a huge rip off to buy and have installed. A dash cam is supposed to save you money in case there is a hit and run. This dash cam just cost me money and is worthless. I emailed the company and they said that since I bought it and had it installed from a third party, that they would take no responsibility  for how the camera works. read more

Great place to get auto electronics installed. They quoted an hour work and price and ran into some issues installing my Garmin back up camera taking up to 3 hours, they kept the price as quoted. They have a very comfortable sitting/waiting area while they work on your car. They also have a charging station for your phone or other electronics while you wait. You can log onto their free wifi to pass the time and keep communicating with friends on Facebook or whatever else such as Yelp. Finally they also have a typical television in case you are bored with all of your electronic devices. I love this place as it has everything you can think of adding to your automobile. I just picked up my 2009 Nissan Pathfinder from them today where they installed a brand new Pioneer AVH-X1500DVD head unit. From what the guys were telling me there, this is one of the newest head units they make. I didn't purchase it there which made me feel even better about their opinion on it. I took my car there because I had gotten a quote from Cruisin Music in Westwood (Read my other review on them) that was ridiculous!! They were awesome when I got there to see what they would charge and went over everything that I would have to pay for in extreme detail. Their prices were very fair because I had done some research online about what other parts I would need for the radio to perform as needed. I dropped my truck off this morning and got a call around 1 that it was done. I showed up and was given a great price even lower that initially quoted. They were very friendly and even came outside to give me some answers on a interface cable that they ordered for me for my iphone 5. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars was because I had been the the store a total of 3 times in all through out this experience, and every time I brought up this cable no one had any idea what I was talking about each time. There was just a communication breakdown internally with them. I was a little frustrated that I had to keep explaining what I had been told by the previous person to help me. It really wasn't a big deal at all, but just annoying. Overall these guys are awesome and will not only go back to them for their product knowledge, but I will tell anyone else that needs anything done to go to them as well. I went to them with a botched job done by another installer I will not name they first inspected what was done asked me questions on what outcome I would like I explained my situation also what I did not like about the work that was done now I am not a tech savvy person but they took the time to explain what they can do and squeezed me in for a next morning appt. They did a superb job of not only improving the sound quality but of also improving the look of my interior the prior job had tweeters on the interior of the car instead of being in the appropriate space built into the car they also helped in using the factory head unit so my steering column controls can be used the prior work had me using a stereo unit that was taking up space in my glove compartment I wish I had come to them first but I am so relieved and satisfied with the work. I would love to say more but this would become a novel but if you need work to be done talk with these guys I can tell you from a nightmare of an experience these guys were a beam of hope. read more

Just fantastic!! Took my 2004 BMW M3 in to get my stereo system upgraded/changed. Excellent work and pricing was spot on. But this is not the reason for my 5 star review. My M3 has a strange battery drain (fully charged will drain in 3 days) that no one could figure out. My dealer did the diagnostic and told me that somewhere inside the stereo system was causing the drain and told me to get the entire system replaced for $4,400!!.. so when I was getting my system upgraded, I told the salesperson Andy about the battery drain. He said that they would look into it..no problem. They searched and searched and thought the drain was coming from the amplifier and that I may hv to replace the amp.. but needed to do more testing to make sure. (I was not happy to hear this because I had an expensive Harmon Kardon system put in and did not want to replace the speakers & amp) So they tested some more...I got a call back a day later and after doing more research and testing,they found that the drain was being caused by a faulty Bluetooth device from the original system and not the amp! What a relief... they just had to disconnect the Bluetooth device only then should be fine... what a relief it was!!...Andy said that they would hv to charge me an extra $100 for the labor/time it took to find the drain.. NO PROBLEM WITH THAT! I found Model to be very honest and had very fair pricing for the service & install. Salesman Andy was very helpful and was very knowledgeable. Highly recommend. I am really pleased with how these people do business. They have been incredibly responsive since my very first phone call. We had an issue with something that was installed which did not meet our expectations from the manufacture. Instead of giving me a hard time, which almost any other place would, they worked with me and replaced the unit with no extra installation costs and completely do business the right way. So I wanted to followup on my horrible review last time after finding more interesting things about this company and the technicians who do horrible work. So i always thought that each time i turned the wheel i thought that audio was in and out. well after 3 years i finally popped off the plastic cover on the dash to expose the right front tweeter. turned out to be completely damaged. So i wanted to tell everyone that when you finish your installation from this company to make sure 100% every dam thing works including all speakers. They won't even own up to it since its been this long, but it was clearly damaged and the aluminum cover came off and the wire was disconnected. Now I have to spend another 150$ for new ones. I would encourage everyone not to use this company since they probably won't even own up to making this mistake. read more

They installed a remote starter on my 2020 Mazda 6. There were several options and Andy went over all of them for me. My car was done in several hours and the job is very clean and professional. The only issue I had was that when pushing remote the buttons to start the car, the horn would honk. They reprogrammed my remote so that the horn no longer honks when starting. Problem solved. This is our second experience with this company. We had the same thing done to my wife's car four years ago with the same professional results and no issues at all. Fantastic place! read more

Last Saturday, my mother and I had to go back to Model Electronics because we were having issues with the car starter (I hit a huge pothole, and everything went downhill from there). We were about an hour early, but they took the car right away. One of the technicians, Nick, was very attentive and polite when we tried to explain the problem. A few minutes later, he came back and explained what the problem was and it would take a few minutes to fix it. No more than 15 minutes, he came out and our car was fixed (I think something needed to be tightened). And they were nice enough to not charge. Once again, great place.
