I ordered the Jasper with chicken sausage and mushrooms and liked it quite a bit, but there are so many options to mix and match that next time I would probably just make my own. My kids liked the Maddy and the Mad Dog; my wife liked that there's an option to order a mini salad instead of a full. On 4/18 I ordered 3 pizzas at 4:30 to pick up at 6pm, I showed up at 6:04 and my pizzas weren't ready which wasn't a big deal. I stood there for about 5-6 minutes before I overheard the girl packaging the pizzas say, "I think I gave his pizzas to the last customer." They didn't say anything or acknowledged my presents even though they just messed up on my order. The fact that they made a mistake is a not a big deal, we've all done them, so then I see another worker, which I'm pretty sure is the a manger, grab a receipt and start making my pizzas. By this time it's about 6:12-6:13, I was looking at all 6 workers, 5 women and 1 man (the cook), and all completely ignore me during the entire process. By 6:29 they finally give me my food and did not say a word to me, I had to ask, what was the issue and the worker that was packaging the food explained that they didn't know but she thinks she gave them to the last customers. Again, no big deal but the fact that I had to ask is very disappointing, there is no respect by workers or the manager towards the customer. I've worked in customer service many years and was taught never to ignore a customer no matter what. To top it all off, when I got home I open my pizza and all 3 pizzas were missing toppings, I clearly saw the worker looking at the receipt to make the pizzas and still got it all wrong. Very disappointed to order my pizzas, be given a pick up time, arrive exactly at pick up time and have to wait 20 mins for my order. I watched two tables of customers come in and order and get their pizza before mine was ready. Not sure what happened but there was no apology for the delay. Ordered online & swung through for pick-up. That system is MONEY and super convenient! You can pay online and then just grab your pizza at the store... similar to Starbuck's mobile order. Split the MOD 11" with my sister (it comes cut in 4 pieces so 2 each). We chose the Jasper: red sauce, mozzarella, spicy italian sausage and mushrooms. SO SO good. I could've done with some more toppings mainly covering up to the crust and not just congregating towards the middle. Great place! The pizzas, salads and atmosphere are top notch. I came here by chance and it was very slow (even one of the employees mentioned it to someone) but it didn't feel weird like some places do when it's dead. I got great service and an explanation on how they do things at Mod. It's basically the same as the other make your own pizza spots, but they don't charge extra for "premium" toppings... I appreciate that. My pizza was great ( sometimes I get a pizza that's too "well done" lol) crust just right and the flavor of the ingredients was great! Ordered 3 pizzas through Uber eats and received three completely different orders- one of mine, one someone one had ordered through doordash and one labeled curbside. I was able to get a refund through Uber eats but the delivery time was so long that I couldn't order replacements. Great thin crust pizza. Order from their menu (I recommend the Mad Dog) or pick your toppings from about 20 meat and veggie options. FYI the 11 inch regular pizza is a much better deal than the mini 6 inch. If you do the math the 6 inch pie is only 28.3 square inches for ~$7.25. Let me tell you that this was definitely 5 star worthy and would also definitely come back. I went with my three kids and all of of us loved the thin crust. I've been a frequent visitor of MOD since the grand opening. The place deserves a solid 5 stars for the management, staff, and customer service. I've never met a better crew of people running a fast paced restaurant besides In N Out and Chipotle. That's saying something. I originally gave MOD 4 stars, here's why: 1. First pizza I ever ordered (11" Mad Dog) lacked sufficient cheese and sauce. This resulted in slices that were nearly nothing but crust. Solution: I now ALWAYS ask for extra cheese and sauce. Problem solved for every pizza since. The amount of ingredients when asking for extra should be their standard amount. This needs to become top priority if you are not going to charge extra to sufficiently cover the pizza. 2. (SEE 2/5/15 UPDATE) While not unique to this location whatsoever, the ordering system the company has devised can be somewhat flawed. The codes they use to determine toppings and which specialty pizzas they offer are somewhat similar to each other and can have a tendency to cause them to make a wrong order. They absolutely stand by their mission statement when the pizza comes out wrong, apologize profusely, and remake it without even asking. You might end up with an entire new pizza for another meal! 3. Make it standard to slice the 11" pizza into 1/8th's. It's a lot easier to handle that way and you can make the pizza last a little longer. I don't mind asking, but that would be much more simple. To add another positive note, having bottles of Sriracha available was genius. I've been eating pizzas at home with it for years and it is a very nice touch to have it in the restaurant. Overall, 4 solid stars for a good pizza that needs just a small touch of personal input to make it perfect for me. **UPDATE 3/18/14** I changed my #2 answer to better reflect the ordering system. Their managers are top notch and deserve a TON of praise for when something goes wrong. Very courteous, personable, and professional! **UPDATE 4/28/14** I changed my rating to 5 stars. Best pizza place in the SCV! They have addressed some of the very minor issues and downsized the sneeze guard at the beginning of the line so they can hear the customer talking easier. **UPDATE 2/5/15** For a while now they have at least partially abandoned their original way of ordering and are now making it in real time by a single person as they move down the ingredients line asking what you would like. This was a much needed change. **UPDATE 11/26/16** I have since moved away from the area, but MOD is always high on my list of places to eat at if I'm passing through town and I have the time to sit down for a meal. You will get no better in the SCV, and frankly no better anywhere for a customized personal pizza. I've tried others and they just don't come close. Management has greatly improved with Kat at the helm who runs a great crew and will go above and beyond to make sure you're satisfied. MOD corporate - keep her around for as long as possible.
