The first surprise was the price. The total came to nearly $68 for two 12-inch pizzas, which felt pretty steep. Still, we were hoping the quality would justify the cost. Unfortunately, the pizza was just average. The biggest issue was the overwhelming amount of cheese. It completely dominated the flavor, making it difficult to taste much of the sauce or crust. Neither pizza really stood out and there wasn't anything particularly memorable about them. We've had pizza from plenty of places over the years, and this ended up being a disappointing experience, especially considering the price. For what we paid, we expected much better flavor and balance. Overall, Sparta's didn't live up to our expectations. We likely won't be returning the next time we're in the mood for pizza, as there are several better pizza options in the area.

Tossed Green Salad - a clean and filling salad. Served with choice of dressing. Helps get the fiber in early. Vegetables were watery, juicy, and fresh. Lots of olives and mozzarella on top though, so picky eaters beware. Garlic Bread - not the usual cut up slices, but a fresh small baguette served with garlic butter. Takes a bit more effort and isn't as crispy and crunchy, so personally prefer other places for garlic bread. House Special Pizza - tasty and comforting pizza. A bit deceiving at first glance because the flatter toppings like salumi and pepperoni are underneath the cheese, so there is a solid amount of toppings. Great amount of cheese loaded with a mini cheese pull. Spaghetti with Meatsauce and Meatballs - honestly I don't think the meatballs are worth adding at the price and portion. Two meatballs that were average, nothing special. The spaghetti was solid, huge portion. Meatsauce is plentiful and covers all the noodles. It's a generous amount and doesn't need the meatballs.

The place had been recommended to us by a friend of Indian descent who told us it came closest to "the flavors of home." My wife loved her dish, the name of which I can't remember, but my Mango Chicken was out of this world! Both were spiced perfectly to our requests, which is important. The restaurant is unpretentious in a small strip mall and is clearly a family-run business. It wasn't crowded when we were there so we had a chance to speak with a couple of family members, and we told them how special we thought he food was. In fact, it is the best-tasting Indian food we've had after trying about a half-dozen other Indian restaurants in the area. And this one is close to home... We'll be back again and again!
