Unfortunately my experience wasn't great as all the reviews . I found this place thru Yelp cause of all their amazing reviews I was very excited to go. I did dipping powder nails and sat for 2.5 hours while the lady who did it for me did a horrible Job! The nails were uneven , not polished well at all and she took her sweet time. She didn't pay attention and by far it was the worst I ever got. I told that to the manager and she told me to come back later so they can fix it for me. So I did! And the guy who's did it for me at first it seemed as if he did a great job ! It took him another 1.5 hour but at least my nails looked good. BUT 3 days later all my nails start having those weird scratches and dents and glue marks. Something very weird that I have not got or seen before. I have been doing powder dip for 10 months now in many different places and I have never seen my nails turn so ugly !! It hasn't been a week yet and I'm so disappointed! It wasn't cheap I spend $120 on Mani and pedi and my hands looks crazy and also waisted so much time !!! Maybe they are good at gel or other services but def not at dipping powder ! I just moved to the area and needed my nails done asap. My tips were recently taken off so my nails could breathe, but the job wasn't done very well. I chose to go to Mod Nails because I could tell by the photos the nails were done up to my standard by means of design and shape. Also, if celebrities feel this salon is camera worthy, then how bad could it be? I made an appointment with Hannah for her next available, which was two days later. On the way I was worried I was going to miss my spot because I was running a little behind and then I hit road work. Luckily I was less than 10 minutes late. Hannah was waiting for me and we got started within a few minutes. My experience with her was nothing short of superb. She is super sweet and a master of the nail art form! She can do literally any design you want, and do it well. You can tell she loves what she does and takes a lot of pride in her work. I was so impressed with the cleanliness and perfection in my nails, I decided to get my lashes done for the first time as well. I've been looking for a consistent nail salon to go to for over 2 years since I moved to the valley from Los Angeles, and I can happily say that they've kept me coming back for almost 2 months . It's on the pricier side, but after visiting over 20 nail salons, I feel it's well worth it. I like that they have multiple options for pedicures if you want to treat yourself. And they have so many polish options as well. I can say that I had a mediocre experience here only once and even so the customer service and the atmosphere makes up for it . So I decided to go do my nails with my sister today. Usually, I go to my nail lady but she convinced me that I should try someone new and maybe I would like them! Well for starters, once you walk into the nail salon you're greeted by the nicest receptionist, Karla! I was debating whether or not I should do acrylic or just regular gel. She was so helpful! She also helped me pick up my colors! The salon was so busy for a Monday, but since I made an appointment I didn't have to wait as much! Henry did a good job! No chips in my nail polish after a week! I workout 6 days a week and clean my house often and so far this manicure has held up perfectly! Ashely did an amazing job with my pedi too! I was referred to Mod Nails by an associate in passing and she recommended Hanna. Prior to writing a review, I wanted to wait a few days so that I may provide honest feedback. It was my first visit and the experience was welcoming. *The front desk associate was pleasant. *The facility was very clean. *I was offered hot tea or water. *Cleansed nails with lime juice (which whitens nails). *Hanna, my manicurist, was very friendly and had a great sense of humor! *Parking in the back or street parking. However, keep in mind that there is limited parking in this particular area. *My nails were shaped exactly the way I wanted. *I visited on July 19, 2016 and I have not had the opportunity to get a fill yet (swamped with work). However, I must say that my nails have not chipped, broke, or lifted even after almost a month! I am impressed with the level of service and quality of work... They said sure no problem. 1st visit lady did a okay job. Just okay. 2nd visit I was able to be helped by a gentleman that was able to do the design in less than 10 min. 3rd visit I couldn't get him to service me, he was booked with a customer so I took any available. The lady tried to do the 99 but it was crooked and misshapen so she took it off. The owner came and tried to do it and again misshapen and he actually looked at me like I should of been okay with what he did. By this time the gentleman that did my 99 the second time was available and he came over and did my 99 in less than 5 min. The other owner, wife I believe came over to tell me that next visit this design will cost me $20. Because the design was intricate and hard to do. Are you kidding me?? Just because they have one steady hand person that can make a 99 on a nail doesn't mean I should pay to get them to hire more steady hand artist. No thank you. They should not only hire more people to be able to so simple numbers on a nail but also hire a person that does pedicures that don't rough hand their customers. The way she grabbed my ankle actually made me jump. She also crazy glued a piece of my toe nail back on because she cut off too much. Lets just say this too. Feet are feet. Love them!! I've been lusting after stiletto nails for over year and finally decided to take the plunge. To say I'm a germaphobe would be an understatement, in fact I've been doing my own manicures and pedicures for years because I'm so freaked out by the unknown of sterilization practices at salons, so it took a lot of research before I felt comfortable enough to book an appointment at a new salon. I found Mod Nails and was intrigued by all the glowing five-star reviews, many that mention the care they take in being sterile. Then I read about how they use sterile disposable liners for the pedicure tub's and I was sold. I decided to take a chance and make an appointment. My first appointment was with Steve for a full set of acrylics, I chose almond shape which I absolutely love , and I had a pedicure with Betty who is so sweet and made my toes look beautiful. Since then I've been back for a fill with Hannah who is absolutely wonderful and once again made my nails look gorgeous. I even discussed with her how crazy I am about sterile instruments and what a germaphobe I am and she was so gracious. She completely understood. She said "it's OK, you just care about your health" - that meant the world to me because I've been in other salons in the past where I mention my concern for these things and they look at me with an eye-roll and I know they're probably thinking 'oh my god what a pain in the ass I hope she never comes back' - but I'm not wrong, we should be able to ask these questions because your health is important and you shouldn't be having pedicures and manicures unless the instruments are sterile. This was the best nail salon experience I've had since moving to LA! I've been interviewing nail salons trying to find a place to go regularly, and this is now where I'll be frequenting. It was $56 for a gel manicure and regular pedicure ("Classic" combo on their menu). That still came with a leg massage. The pedicurist, Tiffany, did an excellent job on my toes. Dianne, the manicurist, did a fantastic job on my manicure. I'm really picky when it comes to doing a good job trimming my cuticles, and she was very detailed. The massage & the add-ons were amazing but my gel nails were cracked and chipped three days after I got them done. This place is horrible, I made an appointment for 5pm on a Friday. I walk in and I'm told to go to the back. I go there put my name on the list I was the 8th person in line. Then I get yelled at by a lady not to stand there. They don't have a waiting area and no instructions on where to wait. I waited for 25 minutes and there were still too many people ahead of me. If left me thinking what's the point of making an appointment, I left since I had to work. I was told that having a reservation only guarantees that you'll get service and you might end up waiting for an hour. I can't talk about other technicians, but Lee is the best. I have been to many nail technicians all over, and I mean many, and by far, Lee is the best. I have been a loyal and generous client for many years, and often, my drive time to get there is no less than an hour as I live at the beach. Hannah always makes sure to say hello. OK, Aside from that, I have not been back to Mod Nails for the past few months. Undoubtedly, one nail falls off of me after every new set I have put on. I get that this can happen, but not every time. I have very high invoices, usually nothing less than $300. to $700.00, which I am OK with as you get what you pay for; however, don't show me a significant invoice and charge $10.00 here and $5.00 there; it's insulting. Also, I wouldn't say I like it when the technicians yell at each other. Other than my comments, they do great work. Will I go back? I am not sure. Friendly staff, managers, and owner. This place is clean. Like- I would pick up a skittle I dropped on the floor and not even think twice about eating it. They sterilize everything and some instruments are even one-use only. I called at noon for a 1:30 appointment for myself and two friends. They were quick and accommodating. We were about 10 minutes late (parking, ugh LA, ammirite?) and they were really nice about it (they also weren't that busy at the time). The owner, Hannah, reached out to me privately to address the issues I ran into during my two prior appointments. She is kind, thoughtful and 1000% committed to making Mod Nails the best it can possibly be. At Hannah's request, in an effort to afford me a positive experience, I went back for a third appointment. Hannah immediately recognized and approached me at the door when I arrived. She and Steve set me up with Betty for my gels, made a delicious matcha green tea and really showed me the care and concern I've come to learn is their innate nature. They both took the time to reiterate in person what we discussed via DM, and made me, a relatively new customer, feel so valued. They are both warm, genuine people who love what they do and it shows. Betty, my nail tech for this appt, is an absolute star. She's sweet and so talented. I thought it would take months to fix my nail shape, but she worked her magic and reshaped them beautifully without making them too short. Let me start off by saying that the nail technicians were great, they did a fantastic job filing my nails and handling my cuticle. The issue was that the nail polish they used on my toes NEVER dried, not even two hours later. I went back to the salon the same day for a refund because hey, I paid $30 plus tip for the pedi. I had them take off the nail polish at minimum and asked for some of my money back. I acknowledged that the technician did a fantastic job and that my only issue was that the nail polish didn't dry. After 2 hrs of waiting I tried putting my shoes on and the nail polish was ruined. I did not have time for a second nail polish application, nor did I have time to come back as I was only in the area for the day. The 'management' was horrible and rude, they forced the nail technician to refund me out of her pocket which I didn't think was fair. They handled the whole thing horribly. I didn't think I was wrong for asking for half of my money back considering I gave the nail polish 2 hrs to dry but it never did. Mediocre customer service. Suffice it to say I walked out with toe nails that don't look like I had them done at all. They really gotta replace old nail polish bottles periodically. read more
