A big black sign sits above the big open widows, but with barely any writing or branding. You'd really have to look for it if you didn't know it was there. Inside the decor is dark with some weird and wonderful stuff on the wall. They had loud house/electronic music on which I loved. The atmosphere was really casual but really buzzy! I've never ordered ribs at a restaurant before. I generally don't think you get enough meat and I'm not a big fan of BBQ sauce. But something felt different in the Urban Standard and I felt compelled to order the half rack. So order I did! And it was one of the most enjoyable meals I've had in ages! The ribs are ridiculously meaty, lots of meat on top as well as in between each rib. The sauce was nice and spicy and not too thick that there was more on your fingers than on the meat! I really liked the fact they gave you a side pot of the same sauce for the chips! The chips were also really good and for a around £9 it was a really decent feed! I had a couple of gin and tonics which was Bombay Safire and tonic. Nothing out if the ordinary. They do have a little micro brewery and if really like to try the ales, I just wasn't in the mood. Next time! This is definitely one of the hottest new places in Gloucester Road. It's a bit different to anywhere else and I applaud them for that! If they keep the same music at the same volume, I'll definitely be a regular!

You are now greeted with a very hip establishment with bench seats and local arty farty works adorning the walls. They have a very interesting but expensive drinks selection. Including some very fine Orchard Pig cider £4.20 a bottle.But tonight for me was about the grub. I opted for a burger with cheese. And it wern't all that bad. But it wern't as good as Start The Bus ! I like my burgers with plenty on juice and for me this was just a tiny bit dry. Others opted for the Pulled Pork Mac and cheese which was pretty good, and decent sized portions. Overall it was a nice plesent dining experience. But then again i've had these in the cafe at tesco, so I wont personally be hurrying back.

Burger King however, really annoys me for some reason. First of all I don't like the fries they do. I'm not sure what they're doing to them, or what they're even made from (potato you would assume) but for some reason they taste very strange to me. Secondly, and this is my main problem. It is so darn expensive for what is essentially a fast food burger joint. You shouldn't have to pay over £6 for a meal at these sorts of places, not when McDonalds are still in the 3-4 pound range for very similar meals. This one in the Mall is in one of those annoying food courts that are always dirty with left over plates and cups from previous eaters. Dilemma, do I stand here looking like an idiot with my tray of food looking for a clean table. Or do I put my tray down and actually clean up after somebody myself. I hate when I have to do that.

There was another young lady who had some small talk with my girlfriend about Harry Styles, as my girlfriend had brought the vinyl with her. That was extremely nice and friendly of her. My girlfriend and I ordered a pizza to share and, to be honest, it wasn't PizzaExpress level, but it was cheap and cheerful. It tasted very nice; I just wish it had been cooked a bit more, as the dough was very light. Overall, the two members of staff who served us were very nice, and it's just a shame we were left standing for 10 minutes waiting to be seated with no one paying attention to us.

What is also a little querky is that i the toilets they have a 'teach yourself italian' CD running on loop, so you can pick up a few Italian words everytime you pop to the loo! The soundtrack in the resteraunt is also pretty distinctive, and if you find yourself loving it you can buy one of their CD's! Frankie and Benny's, not just your average chain resteraunt....

We, a group of 5, came here for a late brunch on a Sunday morning. From the outside you can immediately tell this place has a hipster, minimal kind of vibe going on (think minimal industrial), if this isn't your normal cup of tea, don't let this sway you away as once inside and seated you feel instantly relaxed. The breakfast and brunch choices all sound immensely delicious however I can whole-heartedly recommend the Standard Breakfast which is a take on the good ol' English fry-up. The wait for food is probably a little longer than some other places, however I can attest it is well worth it as the quality and taste of the food is very high and perfectly seasoned. The coffee here is really nice too. A recommended place for breakfast/brunch if you haven't tried it yet.

Obviously it helps being just around the corner from home but at the same time the quality of food and friendly service are both excellent. Any good café can be judged by its breakfast and The Marmalade Café comes up trumps with high quality ingredients, cooked well for a cheap price. What more could you ask for? If you do order the cooked breakfast make sure you also ask for the veggie option of home made bubble and squeak to be added. This elevates the breakfast to another level. I now can't imagine ordering a breakfast without it. Apart form the breakfast the food is all great with interesting daily specials and cakes always available. Including homemade Marmalade of course. There is also a nice resident puppy called Doris who if you are lucky will say hello. Easily the best café in the Blackboy Hill area and I urge you to visit.

Their homemade marmalade is so good, I think about it throughout the year while I'm not in the UK. I'm not sure where they get their bacon, but it's absolutely killer. The anytime breakfast with a side of crumpets/marmalade with tea is about £8. You can't get a better deal than that for fresh, made-to-order food that's not greasy. I'm so glad this place has survived in an address that's historically had quite a bit of turnover.
