Mochinut is a great little spot that has really cool and changing options for mochi donuts. I love how they decorate too! They're pretty good and I love the presentation. The drinks are also so cute with their packaging. I would say the corn dogs aren't personally my favorite, they kinda always taste like they might have been sitting out and the portion size is smaller compared to other nearby korean corn dog places for the same price. I passed by this place on the way to and from work for the last couple of months as it was being built and after it finally opened, decided to try it yesterday. I excitedly bought a half dozen donuts and placed the box on the kitchen table so my girlfriend and I could try them later in the evening. Around 9:30 last night, someone rang our doorbell and there was gentleman standing there, wearing a mask and holding something in his hand. As I asked what he wanted, I realized he was holding my wallet. I didn't even know it was missing. Apparently in my excitement at trying my first box of Mochinuts, I left my wallet on the counter. The gentleman at the door, Jason, was the owner of Mochinut and after the store closed, drove to my house to return my wallet. This place for sure has potential. New competition for the only other mochi donut place in town (fat straws I'm looking at you!). Soft opening, so I expect it to be a learning process for the employees. There are 3 different options for the donut amount - 3 pack, half dozen, or dozen. Obviously the more you get, the cheaper they become. But if I were really going down to it, I'd say it's on the pricey side especially if I were to compare it to what I know/had. They also carry an assortment of milk teas that come in a cute soda can, but alas they were out of boba so we passed on it. Price points of those are pricey as well, and there is a boba store next door. The inside is nice, clean, and Instagram worthy. There are plenty of workers there so I appreciate that they prepared for the crowd. Few things I noticed that made me chuckle - the workers were grabbing one singular donut at a time which made the wait a tad long. Another thing I saw was a huge mass of workers left the one cashier at the front while there was a full house so the cashier looked frazzled since orders were coming in. They also have this weird payment system that has 2 areas to pay which can be confusing possibly leading to a double charge (happened to the girl in front of me but they took care of it right away and refunded her). I'm sure there will be no issues with service when they actually open regularly, they were having a special which is why the wait was long. One particular issue I have is that with the doors opening, flies are suspected to come in. I was worried they would land on the donuts and sure enough they did, but not the ones I got (I hope). Let's move on to the flavors. Right away I could tell they are a lot more sweet than Fat Straws which can be good or bad. Some I preferred more at Fat Straws, some I preferred at Mochinut. For example, their chocolate has a more rich, sweet flavor than Fat Straws. However, the Cocoa Pebbles were stale/chewy and not crunchy like Fat Straws. The huge pro they have against their competition is how fresh the donuts are. They make the donuts fresh around the clock, where Fat Straws makes it at one location and delivers it to the rest of their locations. Also - I just noticed I'm the span of 3 days, they already hiked their prices! 3 piece used to be 8.50, now it's 9. Half dozen was 16, now 16.50. In total - the donuts are good and the workers are very kind. Value is questionable as their competition is 10% less in terms of cost. I'd love to try their other flavors though, so I'll definitely be back. read more

3-19-2022 We walked in about 10 minutes before close, never been here before. We didn't know what to expect. They still had a good selection purchased a 3 pack. We ordered the lemon, pandan w/coconut and an original. The presentation was beautiful, place was clean and the service was friendly and patient with the new customers. The mochinut is made from rice flour, they are light, and a bit chewy. I love how stretchy they are, you can easily pull them apart and eat or share them in bite size, about the size of a donut hole. I will go back to try the half and half mozzarella hot dog. The mochinut is pricey 3 for $9, so I wouldn't indulge very often. But I know where to go for a sweet treat. Flavors come in Matcha with Oreo, Coffee, Churro, Strawberry, Chocolate Pebble, and Original and you really can't go wrong with any of em! Nice to see another popular LA spot in Dallas! Not too many flavors for the soft opening yet, but it seemed busy already. The textures of the mochinut overall was very good and chewy. The hint of each flavor was great with each bite of the mochinut. The mango slice on top of the mango flavor was dry and somewhat hard to chew but it was a great addition to the mochinut otherwise. This adorable shop is located In a plaza with plenty of parking available. They currently offer mochi donuts and boba, and will offer Korean corndogs in the future. Super cute and simple shop that specializes in mochi donuts. The best way I can describe one of these is a lighter donut with a longer chew. The outside is only slightly crispy. Perfectly doughy and chewy. My favorite was the coffee flavor as it had the most strong and distinctive flavor compared to the rest like matcha and churro. Small clean cute place. Staff was super nice since it was my first time. A bit pricey and I kinda expected mochinuts to be something they are not. I wanted it to be a donut filled with mochi type filling, or a mochi in the shape of a donut but it is literally a just donut except they add glutinous rice flour to the batter and then mochi flavors. Still it was nice to try - way too sweet IMO and they were cold (probably would taste better warm). I'd suggest calling ahead to see what flavors they have because they do change frequently and only have 6 types out a day.
