I was welcomed by the sweetest man at the front counter, who not only said hi but stopped to ask me how my day was going... come on. Already scoring brownie points! I decided to try a Passionfruit juice blended w. milk (similar to a batido de maracuya) and selected an assortment of savory filled pastries. The gentleman was kind enough to heat them up for me before handing me my box of goodies to go! I feel terrible to report but these pastries never made it home, they didn't stand a chance! I really LOVED the chicken filled square pastry. It was wonderfully savory, moist and the exterior as buttery and flaky as one could ever desire! My fruit shake/smoothie was cold, tart and just the perfect pairing for these delicious treats. Also, DO NOT SLEEP on the side of ají verde sauce for dipping. It was DELISH! A wonderful community addition. If you enjoy supporting local, small business; owned and operated by kind people who go above and beyond to satisfy their patrons, give Abuela Mela a try. You won't be disappointed!

For some reason, every mochi ring location we visit never has any variety regardless of the time of day, so we have been trying around different mochi business. We purposely drove an hour hoping this business had more than one flavor available (which is our usual problem), and we actually went a bit later in the day. This location had all of the flavors available in, so we were stuck getting a box of the same donut. The person who served us was extremely polite. He heard us talking about our hour drive as we walked out and actually came while we were about to drive off just to thank us for coming that far for 6 mochi rings. Unfortunately I did not catch his name, but he definitely cares about his customers. Overall the mochi rings were really good! They were still fluffy so we knew they were fresh - they turn more on the chewy side when they've been left out for a while. The fruit tea was delicious as well! We will definitely be making the hour drive the next time we are looking for mochi rings! *this location also has wings, and while we didn't get any, they looked really good!*

I've driven by this place so many times and always wanted to stop in, so when he brought me a mangonada, I was so excited. It looked sooo good. And wow, it was delicious! I've never had a mangonada before, but I've always heard about it. It's such a unique mix of sweet and spicy, and it's full of my favorite fruit, mango. The flavors were fun and refreshing, and I totally understand why people love it. The only thing (and this is definitely just personal preference) is that I'm not a big candy person, and the drink had a lot of candy mixed in. If it were the exact same mangonada but without the candy, it would easily be a five star for me. Still, I would 100% come back to try different things. Their menu looks amazing with such a wide range of options. I'm excited to explore more next time!

Fun to see the owner use The Vanilla Bean's specialized machines to whip the scooped ice cream into a smooth base (and to see how it self-cleans when done). Though it was relatively busy, we were able to sit along the narrow bench with small tabletops to enjoy. There were quite a few college kids at the longer table, a family or two with younger children, and some older couples. Overall, very nice energy and friendly staff.

It was a solid price for a medium mango smoothie at $5.50 a cup. The mango was a bit on the sour end, but I knew it was fresh since I could taste actual chunks of mango. It wasn't my favorite Mango Smoothie ever, but it was pretty decent. The storefront is a bit small but there are a few stools and chairs to sit on. The vibe is pretty cute with cute asian snacks, chips, and cotton candy being offered. When I went on a Tuesday afternoon, only one person was working (not sure if this is the norm). She was very friendly and quite fast when making my drink, but if there were more customers, I'd likely have to wait longer since she'd be taking orders and making the drinks. The thing to be aware of when visiting is that there is a $5 credit card minimum. They also do not take Apple Pay, so I'd recommend paying in cash or ordering more than $5 worth to use your credit card.
