Razor clams
Sallie D.

This was one of the better meals I had in Paris (overall a very touristy city wth pricey food compared to other European cities, tbh). Really good value proposition and amazing service. The menu comes in two sections - a table that lists their catch down the rows, and ways of cooking each across the columns. Nice idea, but it was too complicated to figure out since we had no idea what the various seafood types were in English. So we opted for something from the other section of the menu, that shows photos of sample combinations they recommend. The owner explained to me that every type of seafood can be cooked multiple ways depending on customer preference - think there was cream and wine, a Thai sauce, a curry one, and maybe a couple other ways. We went for a kilo of mussels in cream and wine with fries for 12 euros, and the seafood platter for around 30 euros. Which consisted of some raw (oysters, clams, razor clams), and some blanched (?) items (sea snails, land snails I think, two kinds of shrimp). My faves were the giant sea snails, and tiny shrimp. Both super fresh. I wasn't sure you could actually eat raw razor clams tbh.. I tried to open one and realized it was very much ALIVE and moving......... A testament to how fresh the food is, but slightly disturbing to me. The restaurant was super nice about it and took it back to cook it no questions asked. (And didn't make me feel bad about being picky) Overall everything was great. Really helpful service. Great food. Good value. Hard to go wrong. Only regret is I didn't get a chance to go back for a second meal.

The experience was great, our waitress was kind and patient. Thou everything was in French, she took the time to translate. She went as far as breaking out her cell and pulling up pics to help!!! Everything tasted great and with our waitress help! It was definitely a memorable moment!!!

Simple no frills place for fresh seafood that is super reasonably priced! The two of us ordered 1 kilo of mussels in wine and cream sauce and the 33€ seafood platter, and we came out so stuffed!!! The mussels were sweet and very fresh. The frites could have been hotter and crispier. The seafood platter had delicious raw razor clams (still moving!), oysters, shrimp, tiny shrimp (very sweet and tasty), mini black snails and large snails. We also tried French sea urchin for the first time. We normally love the buttery texture of Californian sea urchin. The French type wasn't as good in our opinion, tasted kind of "muddy" but glad we tried it. Would definitely come back!

Amazing! I was really craving oysters when I was in Paris with my family and luckily this place was a short walk from where we stayed. Being from a small town in upstate New York, "fresh" seafood is rarely that and it's pretty pricey. So you can imagine my surprise when I saw the prices here! Grab some friends and get 100 oysters for 108 euros! They have a bunch of other platters as well, we got a medium sized platter and everything was so sweet and fresh that some of the oysters moved when you touched them. They have great mussels too. Staff are friendly and patient. We also got lobster rolls, they were good but not the New England style that we're used to. If you've read this far, just go there already!!!

moules frites cooked in cream and wine. delicious!

We feasted like Queens on a country-wrecking spending spree for only 57 euros. By the time we got to our dinner reservation (love that you can do it on Yelp btw), we were so tired and hungry that our eyes were bigger than our stomachs. My sister and I got: - Moules frites (€14) cooked with cream and wine: tasty! Fries were the crunchiest we got in Paris too - Formule du plaisancier (€33): everything was so fresh. Loved the bulot (sea snails) and the little rose shrimps. The huitre fine de claire (oysters) were nice & salty - no sauce needed. Like the other reviews, our razor clams were so fresh that they were moving. It kinda spooked us but we still ate them. - Oursin (€5 each): I've tried sea urchin varieties from Santa Barbara, Vancouver, and Russia. The French variety is my least favorite. But, great value! They didn't have an English menu when we were there but Google translate's camera function was helpful. The waitress was great despite our language barrier. Tip: No matter how hungry you are, don't eat the bread! Save room for other goodies. Trust.

Seafood were extremely FRESH. The razor clams were still moving when they were served. The female customer who sat next us and she screamed when seeing the clams! Definitely recommended! One of the great meals that I had during my Paris trip

Came here three times during our 1-week honeymoon in Paris! We walked in each time right when the restaurant opened at 7pm and never had trouble finding a table. There's a huge variety in seafood that can be either served cold or cooked up in select sauces, and each time we've been consistently impressed. Our favorite is the welk (looks like a larger escargot) raw and cooked in salt and pepper. It's usually not too crowded so you're sitting comfortably as well. In addition, a small portion of wine is €4...can't go wrong with this combination!

Curry 1kg mussels. Delicious!

Just shared the 1kg curry mussels and fries and it was plenty for two with bread for dipping into the amazing sauce. It only cost 16 euros. I highly recommend this place.

We ate like kings 2 people. Big seafood selection. Super fresh. We had half bottle of wine. Crab ( small) ,2 types of oysters, razed clams , bulot ( a must) ink risotto, cream scallops. Fin crime brûlée . 85 euros. Can't beat that ! Please if your new like I was with on paying in France ,please add the VST on top of you bill yourself . It isn't automatically added. I thought the service was great. Plus they all speak English which was nice. I gave them addition tip on top of the VST. They deserve each it.

Great place for cheap seafood. It's real fresh and tasty! Service is great and the decor is raw, but this place is where you go and stuff your face in seafood. It's really not where you go if you want to look proper lol. Roll up the sleeves and dig in! I prefer to order individual items versus doing their set but some people prefer a brainless process then do set. If u like a little more custom choices then just check it yourself.

Service was good, but I got sand in three of my razor clams. They were out of Uni, which was the primary reason I went too.

I Had to wait for more than an hour for not at all spectacular mussels. This was not acceptable and I've had much better mussels in France.

Everything was superb and our server was swift and smiling throughout the evening. The restaurant itself is small & charming with a simple rustic feel. We felt it was undiscovered but it's likely it was just a slow night on a drizzly evening. I'd certainly recommend a visit!

We enjoyed our dinner on the outside of the restaurant after about a 20-30 minute wait. The bone marrow had the best flavor I've experienced for the dish. However, it is definitely overshadowed by the rich flavor of the foie gras. This experience was unforgettable, with our view of Parisian streets on a brisk, April night. We even came back on our last night, but didn't realize the hours on Google maps was for the deli. The restaurant closes earlier, before 9:00 PM. This meal got us thinking about Paris in a positive light, and we hope to be able to come back to eat the amazing dishes again!

They had a number of goods to choose from and I ended up buying a few things for souvenirs. As for the actual restaurant, they had a number of delicious sounding items on their menu. Our server was very attentive to us and helped us decide on our dinner orders. Similar to the other restaurants though. After our food was delivered, it was far in between when we were checked on again. And after dessert it took even longer for our server to bring the bill. Overall, the food was a letdown. I do not exaggerate when I say that the frog legs just tasted like slightly flavored water. My friend's ravioli had a fairly decent flavored sauce but the pasta was a bit chewy. My friend's duck breast was pretty tough; I had noticed the table next to us also ordered it and they seemed to have trouble finishing/cutting theirs as well. As for my steak with foie gras, well the steak was once again tough and the foie gras was weirdly stringy. It was soft for the most part but there were parts that were tough and stringy. Maybe that's a section that's generally separated in the preparation process and it was missed? In any case it was disappointing. What wasn't disappointing was dessert though; perfectly sweet and balanced.

On the other hand, it made me realize that my mother was a terrible cook. Bistro des Augustins is a small, cozy venue offering both indoor seating and terrace seating near Pont Neuf. It serves a small number of curated dishes, including a wonderfully traditional Bistro Gratin in a homey ceramic dish served piping hot with a brown crispy cheesy top, herbs, spices and chicken. You can also get it with salmon. My brothers and I only saw my mother use our gas range to light her cigarettes, sanitize needles to remove our splinters, and make s'mores during the summer months when she couldn't muster the energy to take us 'outside camping.' I mean, all she had to do was borrow a cookbook, which I'm sure were readily available from maybe a neighbor or in any local bookstore or the public library. How hard is that? I was the only kid who brought a can of tuna and his own monogrammed can opener to school every day. Every day. And mom convinced me that the tuna holster she got me for my birthday was cool and hip. I was a naive mercury-filled fool, although I did become a very fast runner in junior high school because of the tuna holster. The interior décor of Bistro des Augustins is informal and vintage bistro style - wooden tables, traditional chalkboard menus, and soft lighting - creating a relaxed and comfy ambiance. My eyes have been opened to what's possible. Thank you Bistro des Augustins for expanding my culinary horizons. Five stars.
