I'm very happy with this company. I don't know why there are so many bad reviews. Paul responded promptly to my request for a quote way back in July. There was a 25% off special going on at the time, and he tacked on a 10% military deal. The final quote was much less than Windows Hawaii, one of the other window companies that market energy-efficient windows. Paul also was able to look at our house and suggest several different types of window configurations to maximize air-flow and minimize rain. My husband and I ordered our windows at the beginning of August 2016, and they came as scheduled in early October. Discount Doors had their subcontractors install the windows, and they look beautiful. We've received many comments from the neighbors about how nice the windows look and how they make our 1970s house look brand new. Our contractor (hired after the window installation) also commented on how professionally the subcontractors installed the windows. They caulked them in such a way that you can barely tell they had to touch the exterior wall. The installers also provided us with a complimentary can of anti-corrosion spray for the hinges. (I wonder if some of the people who say the windows have rusted did not apply this spray. Everything rusts on the Windward side of Oahu. You have to proactively stop it from happening.) Other benefits we have received: The windows prevent dirt from blowing into our house, unlike the floor-level louver windows we had before. They also block out a lot of the heat from the sun in the evening. It is now pleasure to sit in our family room. Before it was something we avoided. We ordered the second batch of windows and plan to order the last few later in the year. read more

I was very happy with the whole process of choosing which windows to get, the ordering and their installation. I looked around and checked a few other options but on chance dropped in on this store. The salesman gave me a thorough explanation of the products and I was impressed by the logic of choosing the best option and meeting the Building Code at the same time. The inspection of my existing windows and how best to remedy problems and get the new windows ordered was very informative. There was no pressure to do the whole house just the two sides that needed fixing. There was a delay in shipping the windows which arrived while I was away but they kept them in storage without charge until I returned. The delivery was simple and handled very efficiently. Scheduling the installation took a little time because of my schedule but the installers were great. A good review of what they needed to do and how they were going to handle a couple of minor difficulties. Then they were installed. No loud noises. No blaring radios. When they were in, my neighbors were over that evening impressed from just seeing them from the street. One immediately contacted his landlord and had him come and see because his windows were termite ridden and he needed new ones. I am very happy with the ease of cleaning both the screens and the windows. The panoramic windows are great and I always forget there is a window there because my casual chats with people on the street can no longer take place that way. The sound abatement is phenomenal. We recently went back to Discount Windows, Doors & Cabinets Hawaii in Kaneohe to order additional windows after having done some major window replacements and remodeling in 2009. Once again we were extraordinarily pleased with the quality of the windows, the service from Jerry Griffin and his staff, and the speed and professionalism of Anthony Firth and his crew of installers. In doing major remodeling to 2 1/2 bathrooms this time, we punched huge holes in our exterior walls and filled them with high quality Makai windows to open the view and modernize our bathrooms. Of particular note, when we found out our general contractor was available on short notice, Anthony Firth rearranged his schedule to ensure we got our windows in to meet the contractor's time schedule. It was fun to watch - like a fine symphony overture - as Anthony and his crew fit themselves in after our demolition work and air conditioner installation and before the plumbing, tile, carpentry and painting. The windows were done quickly and perfectly and this allowed the overall remodel project to continue without interruption. Aloha home owners, I bought a large window for my living room and a smaller one for one of my bedrooms, I felt the price was great, and they are self cleaning, I can't wait to try that feature. Jerry came out to measure, and later another chap came and did official measuring. The wait was seveal months, but I know it takes time to fill a containder, and I was in no rush..... I am thrilled with my new sliding glass doors and solar screens. They look wonderful and are truly first class. The problem is, it makes the other windows look shabby. I hope to be able to improve that in the future. Dave Pirog was my installer and he did an amazing job. I manage properties and use handymen & some contractors for repairs and improvements and he is far superior to those I have used. He works long hours and is a perfectionist. In the last six month of remodeling our residence on this Island, we learned pros and cons of Suppliers and Contractors. We learned that being the biggest Warehouse of National Recognition with the so called unlimited inventory sounds good, bud the lack of qualified knowledgeable Staff is their biggest Failure, We found , after many reviews of other suppliers, " DISCOUNT WINDOW & DOORS " and we are very satisfied with the fast , knowledgeable professional service of the Staff, and we like the product of our windows and doors. My experience with Discount Windows and Doors was anything but negative - I questioned the owner about the other negative reviews here - 2 are from other suppliers as DWD have no customers with any related names, not uncommon apparently. The explanations I was given with regards to the other outlandish complaints showed me that these customers are totally nuts and in the wrong. I bought a house full of windows and was absolutely delighted with the service and quality of workmanship demonstrated. The windows, which are in the lanai, have completely opened up our house. As for the service, very friendly people that are willing to be flexible as far as dates for installation are concerned. I was quite disturbed with the level of service I received, my Entry door took double the time I was quoted to get to me after being shipped from the mainland. When dealing with the managment, they did not take ownership of their problem. They even mentioned that they had let go the sale person who was in charge of my account due to his lack of follow up and service, however when I spoke with them, they saw this as "not their fault". After considerable research on Oahu, I chose Discount Windows & Doors because they offered the highest quality sliding glass doors for the best price. Delivery was as forecast. Staff are courteous and responsive. the doors are excellent, look good and function with ease. The quick-cleaning-with-a-hose aspect of the glass is an added benefit. Mana, the sales associate with whom I worked, was responsive to questions in person, on the phone and via email. Mana was very helpful and courteous and did not rush me in any way to make my decision, unlike sales representatives from other window companies who wanted me to immediately sign a contract. You hear horror stories about some window & door installers but after our neighbor hired Discount Doors & Windows, we went for it. I was really impressed by the 6 man team that showed up, they were professional, pleasant and worked incredibly well with each other, all doing different tasks (including constant vacuuming). They installed 1 huge window and 3 levoured windows in about 3 hours. We will be hiring them again! I upgraded my wooden louvers to casement and awning windows. I took out picture windows and replaced them with glass doors that have really opened up my living room. Now my old house looks fabulous! If you're considering upgrading your windows, look into the self-cleaning windows, especially for windows located out of easy reach for cleaning.
