Indigo - Back of my ticket

Indigo

Entertainment District, Downtown Core

Yesterday, I needed parking near Blue Jays Way. Although the Blue Jays didn't survive their…read morewildcard series against the Twins (quite the dilemma for me supporting both teams this entire season), there were a ton of parking lots along this street. The car in front of me immediately pulled into a parking lot where the flat fee was $15 on a Saturday. Athough that wasn't a horrible rate, I wanted better. I had scouted an Impark lot next to the eatery that I needed the night before. However, I did not immediately see it. Instead, I ended up at this Indigo underground lot. It's under 320 Front Street West. The door automatically opened when I began my descent. There was a parking attendant on duty. There was also a machine where you take a ticket with you and pay when you're done. I did the latter. I found a spot fairly close to the elevators. This comment may sound weird, but this underground parking lot smells nice. It's like a cheerful form of laundry detergent is constantly there for you to inhale and enjoy. Well, I figured out later that this building has Thrifty and Dollar car rental companies. It explained why this lot smelled so pleasant. Cars always need to be spruced up after they have been returned. It also made sense why there was a complimentary squeegee with windshield washer fluid that you could use while you were in this underground lot. It's a nice parking lot. There are security areas where you can talk to someone if you feel unsafe. I felt completely safe here. There were lots of parking spots. It was brightly lit. You can wave your hand in front of the sensor to have doors open going to and from the elevators. I took the elevator up a floor. You are in the lobby of the building. I didn't know where to go. There were doors to the south, west, and north. I clearly looked confused. Luckily, I had the security guard let me know that on weekends, the only set of doors that work are the ones that face Front Street West. He was helpful. I thanked him and left through the south-facing doors. I was in the area for at least two hours. I paid a flat fee of $12. It was decent considering that the walk over here wasn't long. I wished the security guard a nice evening. I caught him by surprise. Maybe he was used to folks not appreciating what he does for a living. There is a payment kiosk by the elevators. I paid with a credit card. You also have the option using your debit card. I tapped to pay after I had scanned my ticket. Done! Alternatively, you can pull out your Indigo app on your phone or pay online. I first learned about Indigo parking in Ottawa back in July. I had a great experience then. I had a repeat performance here, minus paying online. I took one final whiff of this detergent-scented lot. I left by scanning my ticket. I also wished the parking attendant a good day. I also took him by surprise. This lot was awesome. If I'm back in this area for something, I'm definitely parking here again. (383)

Simcoe Place Express Park - Payment machines

Figured we would be prompted to pay by visa either by a human or a machine when we exited the parking lot. Returned to our car to a $98 parking fine. Called the phone number to contest the fine, waited 32 min and they dont care, won't reduce the fine. They claim there was lots of signage and pay boxes.

My original thought was to bite the bullet and pay a maximum of $27 to park at MTCC's parking lot. However, when I was driving along Front Street West, I saw a sign to park at Simcoe Place and gave this parking lot a shot. I'm glad that I did. This lot is an Impark. A sign instantly stated what the parking rates were as I drove down the ramp. I'd be paying a maximum of $10 on a Wednesday evening, so I was pleased to save some money. There are two ways to pay. You can either swipe your credit card at the machine to get access to the lot and then swipe again to exit. Alternatively, you can wave your hand in front of the machine to get a ticket, and then pay at a kiosk when you're ready to leave. I decided to do the latter, to try out the sensor that spits out a ticket. It works well! The only caution to share is on how narrow the path is to get down to the parking lot. You need to drive cautiously, or you could end up sideswiping your car against the wall. Parking spots are also narrow. I'm glad that my car is smallish. I squeezed into a spot that had a barrier to my left. My car fit perfectly. The lot is nicely lit. It's a 24-hour, unmanned parking lot. There are stairs and elevators that you can use. You do need to touch the handles to get to and from these areas. The buttons in the elevator are self-cleaning, which intrigued me. Each elevator has a maximum capacity of four people during this pandemic. When my event was done, I returned to Simcoe Place and paid for parking at a kiosk. It accepts credit and debit cards, and cash. I used a credit card. Easy peasy. This parking lot was a great find. If I ever manage to get myself over to Ripley's Aquarium of Canada, which is also steps away, I'd park here. (319)
