Went there to get my window fixed as it wouldn't go up all the way, they told me I needed a motor and regulator and it would take two days and cost $546. I knew the motor was good so I called around some other places to price check and when I spoke with them again, they said your motor is fine, you only need a regulator and it'll be $350. Assuming because I didn't bite at the $546 for parts and labor I didn't need, they'd settle for the $350, I asked how the cost broke down and he said $120 for the part, $180 for the labor....but that doesn't add up to $350, I was told the other $50 was for diagnostics. That's fine, but when price checking I found a part for $35 and labor elsewhere for $100, so I said I'd take it somewhere else and was told it was going to be $89.95 to get my car back for diagnostic fee (a minute after telling me it was $50), I checked out and they charged $99 after tax and fees, left my door panel and window in the back seat, very unprofessional. They must prey on the lake drive millionaires here to stay in business, people who don't really care how much things cost or double check things are above board. I am a bus driver. During this pandemic many gas stations have refused us service. But not Shorewood Mobile. I appreciate the kindness of letting us drivers patronize their facilities. So in turn, I usually make a purchase to show support! I stopped to use the facilities and the ONE time I am pressed for time and didn't purchase the owner comes from the back as I was leaving and said since they were kind enough to let me use the bathroom he would appreciate me buying something too in order to pay for the water and lights that I just used! I felt like I was in a time warp. I pulled up to the pump last Friday evening to get some gas and before I could even shut off my car an elderly man was knocking on my window. I rolled it down and he asked how much gas I would like (after calling me beautiful). Sorry, but in this day and age you don't come across full service stations and especially not in Milwaukee. The one time in my life I pulled up to a full service pump by mistake, the employee who came out looked annoyed that he might have to help me (I quickly got back in my car and moved to the next pump after seeing the sign). I was under the impression this isn't a full service pump/station, considering there were no signs and other people were getting their own gas. But he seems to enjoy doing it so I let him and you could tell he worked there or could be the owner for all I know. I felt weird though, I prefer to do things like that myself I guess! As he came around to hand me my card and receipt, he called me beautiful again and also gave me a Lifesaver mint. It was strange but cute and old timey as well. Someone needs to tell these people there's a pandemic happening. They have a "must wear a mask" sign on the front door. But apparently, no one who works there can read. Because I have yet to see anyone there wearing a mask. Worse yet, the cashier today spent the whole time yelling to a co-worker across the tiny, ventless space. I've only been here for gas and coffee & my experience has been good, albeit the high prices & limited selection. The coffee is decent, compared to most gas stations, and the person behind the counter is always friendly & the fact that it's walking distance keeps me coming back. Just a tip - Another reviewer mentioned the full service being a good option in winter...full service adds another 70 cents per gallon. While nothing is free, 70 cents a gallon, when gas prices are $3.00/gallon seems a little steep for me. read more

I am disappointed to say that Lake Shore Mobil was an awful experience. Dennis, the shop owner had gotten good reviews on Google, so since I live in the neighborhood and needed to get my car checked out I stopped by for an inspection. They were unable to get me in until the following week, which is not a big deal. The problem is they did their analysis of what they determined to be wrong with the vehicle, rusty rotors, and failed to offer an alternative to service besides brand new rotors. My cousin works in an auto shop and the proper response should've been we can clean the rust off the rotors and realign them if needed, either for not cost or minimal cost. Dennis chose to do neither and instead said, "we'd probably just mess it up anyways". I mean what type of repair shop says that, unless they felt it wasn't worth their time and energy. The main reason this shop was a disappointment has to do with the fact that while the car was in their hands, they some how managed to create a huge dent in the trunk of my car. Worst yet they claimed they didn't do it and wouldn't fix it. I talked personally with Dennis and he denied it, I asked to see the surveillance tape of the small parking lot connected to the gas station they work out of and he refused, instead saying, "One of his guys would look at it and definitely give me a call back". While I never got that call and when I called him back he said, "No damage was seen on the tape". Again, maybe all true (doubtful since I know my cars very well) either way anyone that visit's Lake Shore Mobil should be aware of the tight corners they cram your vehicle into and worse yet they park the cars on side streets, where any number of things can happen to them by cars/people passing by on the street. I was in Milwaukee on July 17th, the hottest, most humid day of the summer this far. Drove all the way from River Falls, WI. My car's air conditioner went out and the battery was also at it's end. I needed to pick my daughter up at O'Hare, the next day. Someone mentioned they had a repair done at Lakeshore and I just barely made it to the station as my gauge was about to hit the red line. I explained my situation to Dennis who assured me he would look at it, even though he had many vehicles that day, and said I should be able to pick it up by noon on the 18th. He found my daughter and I a ride back to her place and had the car ready to go by 6:00 p.m. ! Service was very friendly, professional and respectful. I definately recommend Lakeshore Mobil! If I could leave 0 stars I would, I took a vehicle here for a simple drivetrain issue, they told me nothing was wrong. I picked it back up same issue same noise dropped it back off. Picked up the third time went to diagnose the problem myself and come to find out the front drive shaft was completely snapped and the worst part is they told me it was in the air and all 4 wheels were turning!! I have been driving for 25 years and haveyouen to many an auto to function.shop. I've never dealt with worse customer service or poorer workmanship in that time frame. One example would be that ain't had an alternator replaced and the vehicle shut down on me travelling 70mph. The fellow working responded by asking which car was mine, which tire I was concerned about, then proceeded to fill the tire without responding to any the questions or comments I continued to recite to him i.e. "Thanks for you help, but I'm just wondering if you charge for air. I am new to the area and Lake Shore Mobil is just up the street from my new home so I gave them a try. My son took my car in for an oil change. When I got home, I looked at the receipt and it showed that they put in 5 qts of oil. Well ... my car takes six quarts so I called and asked the guy what happened. He said they probably made a mistake on the paperwork but that they always check the oil level. He said if I wanted I could bring it by and they'd check it. So my son went back the next day and they checked it and they REFUSED TO LET HIM LEAVE until he paid for the additional quart of oil! There was a phone call to my wife, trying to resolve the stand off. The owner was very rude and ended up telling my wife that we were a waste of his time. These guys showed their true colors by how they handled a problem situation WHICH THEY CAUSED. I have no confidence that they are a reputable service station. We've had several car repairs done at Lake Shore Mobil. The first time I brought in my old rusted out clunker of a Suburban. This thing was duct taped together, but the starter was grinding and it had multiple other problems. Dennis was great, he fixed the starter quickly and at a fair price. He also looked over the vehicle and let us know it was probably time to put it down. We took his advice and purchased a newer car. He is the first person we took it to for new brakes and an oil change. Dennis and Lake Shore Mobil have fair prices, AND they are honest and hard working. They are prompt at calling with estimates, and when the vehicle is ready to pick up. Bonus points: We can ride our bikes up to the station because it's so close, and we only own one car! read more

The only reason to go here is if you literally are running out of gas and are in the same block. I would not even do that. They overcharge for everything and get away with it because of the location and insular east side audience. They are rude, especially to women, and try to force extra services on you. Worst 3 months ever! Besides the shop not being able to fix my car, which I completely understand happens, Lake Shore Mobil had the worst costumer service I have ever experienced in my life, and this is not exaggerating. From the endless calls I had to make just to find out the simplest details, to them not calling me for weeks, even months on end, they were unbelievably rude. I even called once to find out my car was transported to a "specialist" at a completely different shop, which if I didn't call, I would have not known my car was where I thought it was. So, after all the calls, I decided to wait for them to call me. It took them over a MONTH. After the ridiculous wait, still with no car, I told Dennis off. He seems knowledgeable, put lacks the number one aspect needed to run a business - customer service. DO NOT GO THERE!! I always hear good things about Riverside Auto in the Eastside. PS. When I went to drop off the title, I found my car in shambles, flat tires, dashboard completely cracked and removed and dirty as ever. Again, bad costumer service. When I was there, nobody came out for the service, but after I finished pumping. I realized that they charged me $2.99 per gallon, 50 cent more than regular price. I talked to the employee inside, and she said, there is no one to do the service today. However, they still charge custom additional 50 cents per gallon. read more

I think the previous review needs another one to balance it out. I understand that everyone has different experiences, but I have been going to Lake Shore Mobil and Dennis for 10 years and I have to say that my experiences have only been positive. I have had minor to major repairs done and I have never felt ripped off at any time. Actually I have not required that many major repairs, as Dennis has always done his best to fix the problem and not do more than is necessary. I live near the Lake and we talk about "the Lake Effect"...when people know you live near the lake, suddenly the price goes up. Dennis knows where I live and yet he has always done his best to keep the cost down of repairs. I can't imagine any business doing the kind of repair you suggested (taking rust off rotors and realigning them) for cost or minimal cost. Sounds like it still takes time and probably the difference between the time and cost involved in doing that and just putting on new ones wouldn't be great enough to justify the repair versus replacement. I can only speculate, but I just want people to know that this is not indicative of their general business practices. read more

WORST SERVICE EVER. Dennis does not know the meaning of customer service and clearly won't be changing anytime soon. When I came on here to see other reviews I thought how fitting it was that he already has a name mention. Earlier this year I had gone in to have my tail light fixed since the bulb was burned out. The guy who put the bulb in seemed as though he had never done it before, couldn't even figure out where you put it in, etc. (this was very assuring from the start). After he had finished I went on my way thinking the problem was solved. Less than a week later my brake light in my car came on AGAIN. Due to my work schedule being the same hours as their hours of service it was awhile before I could actually get my car back to the shop to have it replaced AGAIN. When I went back to the shop to have it replaced, they looked up my initial invoice which surprise surprise was put into the system incorrectly. They labeled it as a turn signal light instead of a brake light. That didn't seem right as I have NEVER had a turn signal out on my car but I told him I would go home and check anyway to see if I had another invoice. (He needed the invoice for clerical reasons to adjust it in the system). He then looked at my car and told me the current bulb in there was a bulb they "hadn't used in years". After pleading with him that I indeed did receive service at his garage he replaced the bulb and told me to bring back an invoice if I could find one. When I got home, the only invoice I had was the one that read, "turn signal". Being the honest person that I am I called back to wrap up the situation and explained the only invoice I had was the one that had a turn signal on it. He then said that now it had been too long to replace even though the bulb failed within a week of putting it in and took no responsibility for things being entered into their systems wrong. Very disrespectful on the phone, did not lend any sort of customer service skills, and went along with the "nickel and dime" policy that I hear about from this place all the time. While being on the phone I was transferred around to multiple people and ended up with a lady who got frustrated and hung up. Is this amateur hour over here? Where are the communication skills? Ended up paying for the second bulb when the first one never worked in the hopes that karma will come around and everyone will get what they deserve. All in all, this was an extremely frustrating experience with no one knowing what they're doing, complete disorganization, and an extreme lack of customer service. I wouldn't go near the place with a ten foot pole! P.S. I hate that I even have to rate one star on here to complete the rating because this place does not even deserve that. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would rate 0 stars if it were an option. Prepare to be taken to the cleaners at this place. Without notifying you prior to running diagnostics, they will charge you $99.00. This is a free service that can be done at Autozone or O'reiley's. My boyfriend and I had been loyal customers to this place since we moved to Shorewood two years ago ($2,600 spent here) and normally would have recommended to all of our friends and neighbors, but now I definitely will not. When given an outrageous price quote, Eric the mechanic could not give a justifiable answer as to why I would be charged $298.00 for a job that takes 20 minutes and a part that costs maybe $20-30. His only response was that he didn't know and just follows the book. What? What book are you talking about? How vague is that? My advise to anyone looking to continue service or try for a first time, look elsewhere. They assume that they can charge whatever they want with the expectation that their customers are unintelligent enough to question it. My dad is a mechanic and if he lived closer he would be working on my car. My dad was outraged when I told him about this experience and the price to get the job done. I called and asked how much an oil change was with synthetic oil and gave them the make and model of my car. I was told that it would be $75-$80. It was pouring the day I brought my car in so I had to stay inside the gas station and wait until my car was done. Every five minutes, a mechanic would come in and get something to eat or drink. I waited over an hour for a oil change which I would somewhat understand if they were busy but they took my car right into the bay. Finally, one of the cashiers went to check to see how much longer it would be and they were finished. When the cashier checked me out, he said my total was over $100 dollars!! I asked why since I was told $75-$80. The cashier went to ask a mechanic and sent the cashier as a messenger while another mechanic was behind the register eating. He said that my car needed 6 quarts of oil instead of 5, okay I can understand that, but he also said that I needed a new filter and that was included in the price. I don't know about their policies but everywhere I have ever gotten an oil change has replaced my filter which was included in the estimated price. Also, after getting my receipt I noticed that they charged me for windshield wiper fluid which I did not ask for. I called them to tell them that I didn't ask for this service and don't think I should be charged and the lady told me to come back and they would pump the fluid out and refund me. I would highly recommend staying away from this place, who knows what else they do to your car that isn't authorized when you are getting a repair just to make a couple of extra bucks. read more
