Service was quick but the pricing and mechanics were a little sketchy. They denied the coupon that was on Yelp at the time for $10 off your first service which I thought was interesting. The cost for the repair seemed to come from his head and I wasn't given an estimate before I arrived although I did ask. Overall I got what I needed but I don't think I'll go there again. I have been a customer for many years. They are trustworthy with reasonable prices. They do quality work, won't sell you unnecessary services and if something needs to be done at some point in the future, they aren't going to tell you it needs to be done now. For example, they let me know that my rear brake pads would need to be replaced at some point but monitored them over a few oil changes and I got almost another year out of them from when they first told me about it, and it was also nice to know that the expense was coming at some point so that it wasn't a surprise. What a scam! Scam scam scam. All their positive reviews are from free quick emissions testing-- do not trust this place. Went in for brake work. My front right side was making a squealing noise. They said I needed an overhaul, which made sense because it was a new-to-me used Sienna and I had already put some miles on it. I got the call -- $950 -- seemed steep but included front rotors and back drums. OK. Probably on the high end. Idk. I get the vehicle back and it seems fine. Tony even texted me "James this is Tony the owner. How is everything?" How nice. I said seems good so far. A day later it starts making that same squeal in the front, again after 150 miles. I texted Tony back. No reply. I returned a couple days later and said, "what's going on here." ETC. They said they'd look at it free of charge. Cool. They call me and say, "We don't hear anything, maybe it was just wet." I say try again. They say, "Nothing." OK that's weird I thought. I get the vehicle back and it's still squealing up front. On top of all that, it starts rumbling on the freeway anywhere faster than 70. I'm livid. I march into the shop. Tony reassures me he'll take care of it. He gets one of his mechanics to ride along with me. I take him on the freeway to get that rumble going even. He says he hears the noise and the rumble. I take it back to them as Tony promises to fix the problem. Every time I have to take the vehicle in I lose a day of work as well. He calls me and says they've figured it out. "That noise is a bearing. We can replace it, we have the part here. We won't charge you any labor since the wheel is already off." $300 stupid dollars later. Jesus fucking christ. It's still squealing and still rumbling on the freeway over 70mph. I call Tony. He says it was to fix the noise his mechanic heard, a grinding in the back. At this point I'm ready to call the cops... I go back in. I'm like Tony, the noise I brought my car in here 3 months ago is still happening. At this point you've gotten me for almost $1300. You fixed shit I never asked you to. And I still have the same problem. I drove Tony around, on the freeway so he could hear the rumble... the very obvious squealing etc. He was like, bring it back in I will fix it. I said, "What do you mean when you say that? Because you already got me for $1300? And you haven't fixed anything. I'm just supposed to trust you? Why would I trust you?" He's looking at me, I'm like, "Dude would you trust me? If we were in opposite seats. He said, "no obviously." LMAO all you need to know He said, please just let me get it back into the shop. That was 6 months ago. Now that squeal that never went away is grinding. I'm going to take it in to him next Tuesday. Wish me luck. (this is kinda a self-own... like how do you let the owner of a place take advantage of you so thoroughly. TBH I'm not sure. It's close to my house and every other shop was operating 3-4 weeks out because of covid shortages etc. Like I said I need this vehicle for work... there are a lot of reasons... what an important lesson here. read more

I had alternator belt issues during a major snowstorm, called late in the day, I also needed a tow. The were there before 7 am, called and gave me the price and told me what I needed, very reasonable price, was done by 9:30 am! I was very pleased, also sent a text 2 days later to check and make sure all was well, never had that before..I found my new mechanic!!! read more

Rescued me the evening before Thanksgiving. Billy Harlow was the driver who picked up my only 2 week old Subaru and took it to their lot as nothing else would be open for a few days. It's rare that a place does work for less than you were anticipating and do exactly what they tell you they'll do but this place definitely delivers on both of those. I got a tow from them when my car wouldn't start. They towed me back to my apartment, and the driver told me that if I decided to get my car fixed at their shop then they would have the tow fee. He was apparently mistaken but they honored that promise regardless. It ended up being that the cylinder in my steering column was bad. They replaced it quickly and labor and parts were all less than $400 (I drive an Audi so that's incredible because everyone always upcharges!) No complaints so far! The work seems solid. read more

RK Motors delivered exceptional service in an extreme time of need for me with courtesy and kindness. I didn't know they existed before this but I will sing their praises to everyone I know. Winter in Milwaukee is brutal and it seems like every year in an arctic blast I have car trouble. I tried to escape the issue by getting a new car this year. Nope! 8 days and 200 miles into new car ownership the 30 below windchill broke my car's starter. On what was probably the worst day of the year for getting a tow truck...it was a 4 - hour wait. But that was communicated to me and I could salvage some of my day that way. I went to work and came back to meet my tow truck driver. He helped by keeping me in the loop, letting me know where he was and when he would be out to take care of me. RK sent the smallest tow truck to me so we could maneuver in my cramped parking lot. He was excellent with hooking up the tow equipment. I climbed in and together we rode to the dealership in one of the coldest, messiest driving days in Wisconsin driving history. He took excellent care of me and my car and I was very grateful. When I got to the dealership he dispatched me inside to work with the service reps and that was the last I knew. The dealership must have signed the invoice, etc. As I look back on that frustrating difficult day I so aporeciate the excellent service, courtesy and kindness my tow truck driver and RK Motors extended to me. I've used RK several times. They are always speedy and reasonably priced. However, the last time I took my car in, it was for some brake work. I told them that I was taking a road trip down south and asked that they look it over. I experienced some alignment type issues on my 10 hour drive down (shaky steering wheel, rough ride). By the time I got to Memphis, my car was making a crazy noise and felt really "wobbly". I pulled off the interstate and realized that my back wheel was about to come off. Lug nuts were extremely loose, like 1-2 twists from coming off. The folks at RK were the last people to have the tire off. I am sure that this issue was due to negligence on their end. read more

I used RK for towing my car recently when it stalled out. Both times the RK guy was fast and reliable. He did a brief test and told me that the car needed a fuel pump. Great. So I took it to a repair shop that kept the car 2 days but could not figure out what happened. When the car stalled out a few days later with the same problem, I had the car towed to a different shop. RK guy was right on time and then went on his way. Sure enough, it was the fuel pump and the pipe leading to the pump was all corroded. But without RK I would not have known anything. read more

I am a longtime patron of RK Motors. As someone who knows next to nothing about what is under the hood, I count on RK Motors to keep me safe, with many miles of trouble-free driving. The staff is always courteous and reliable, telling me ahead of time what lies "down the road." For example, I went in for an oil change and license plate renewal check last week and Tony told me that the front brakes look a little thin--no need to take action right now, but to plan on this. Last summer my car ran out of steam as I left Lannon--a long way from home. It just quit, for no apparent reason (hey, I did NOT run out of gas!). Of course, RK Motors is on my speed dial, and someone came promptly. I had a ride home to my front door in the tow truck! It was great! Do not get your car towed by this company unless you're out of options and enjoy waiting. A half hour turns into an hour, that turns into an hour and a half, etcetera, etcetera. Rude guy on the phone and they can care less on customer satisfaction. Terrible. Next time my car needs to get towed I'm not letting my auto insurance company send them. read more

I took my old Hyundai to my usual mechanic to fix my heater. I was told that part was discontinued and nothing could be done, how about I buy another car? (My mechanic also sells cars--conflict of interest?) Then I took it to R K Motors and they just manually switched from A/C to heater as I had originally asked and now I have heat for the winter! I had great tow yesterday after being referred to them via a Liberty Mutual car policy with roadside assistance. I didn't know they do repairs and had already arranged a different destination. I will use them again for tow and service if I'm in the area. The driver arrived in half the initial estimated hour wait, navigated a tight alley on Marquette's campus, helped confirm I did tried the right initial steps including replacing and hooking up a new battery, and took care of the transfer to another shop so I didn't have to follow him. Terrible customer service. Doesn't take responsibility for any wrong doing. Dropped off my car and left it in neutral, doors unlocked and windows down. Car was mishandled and front bumper was damaged. They won't take responsibility for anything. My wheel popped out of my ball joint and I called Progressive to set up a tow with my roadside assistance. They sent R K Motors to tow my car to the car shop I chose. I waited on site by my car. Progressive said I would have to drive with the driver to the car shop and when I told the driver I was informed to go with he said "no, I have it handled I just put your keys in the drop box, we have towed to O'Reilly Motor Cars several times." Progressive called me when the tow driver arrived at the car shop and asked if it was ok to park the car on the street and I informed them this was fine since that is normal procedure when car shops are not open. I called O'rielly Motor Cars in the morning the next day and they said they had my keys from the drop box but could not find my car. After multiple calls, I found out my car was towed to the city tow lot only a couple hours after it was dropped off by R K motors because a police officer deemed it "obstructing a traffic lane" and it had to be towed immediately. I spoke with the police officer and she said multiple people called in an abandoned car in the middle of the street that looked like it had been stolen and ransacked through with the windows down. Myself and the officer are assuming it was left in neutral and rolled out in the road. I called R K Motors to speak to them about the situation and ask if they would meet me at the tow lot to get the car transferred back to the car shop since it was their wrong doing and also asked if they were going to reimburse me for any of the 60 dollar parking ticket or the 125 dollar fee to get my car released from the tow lot. The owner Tony Kandarapally said absolutely not and hung up on me. I called back again and said if he wasn't willing to work with me I was going to call my insurance and file a complaint against him and he said WHOOPTY DOOOOO and hung up on me again. I set up another towing service through Progressive and went to the tow lot to pay the fee to release my car. When I got my car out, THE WINDOWS WERE DOWN AND THE DOORS WERE UNLOCKED. Also, there is now 500 dollars worth of body damage that either happened when R K motors was putting the car down on the street and doesn't want to admit or the second tow driver that came to get it ended up damaging the car but they had no idea the car's wheel was hanging off. STILL RK motors wrong doing that a second tow truck even had to come. Again, the owner refuses to take any blame for this. Imagine the frustration and disappointment you already have about the situation and then to deal with an owner who is immature and ill-mannered. When I called the second time the owner passed off the phone to the driver and the driver ADMITTED he may have left it in neutral and might have left a window down. This is not how an owner of a business should ever respond to a dissatisfied customer. R K Motors will get out of this with no consequences other than maybe getting dropped from Progressive, but clearly Tony did not seem to care. They might be able to fix a car at a low price like I've seen other reviews but without great customer service and the willingness to own up to wrong doing, you are not worth anyone's business. read more

My wife and I have been taking our cars to RK since 2005. My landlord at the time had a repair done and commented on how honest they were. I have consistently been impressed with the quality of the work done and the price asked. The've worked on my 1997 VW Golf, my wife's 2003 Hyundai Elantra, my 1998 Chevy c2500, my 2006 Mercedes C280 4matic, and my mom's Hyundai Santa Fe. The only issue I have had was a belt that squealed on the Elantra post replacement during wet weather after cold start up. They deglazed the pulleys and all was well (no charge). I continue to give RK my business even after moving to Fox Point (not the closest auto shop). I trust them and find value in their honesty. read more

I had to have a coil replaced. Had it done and all fine, for about a month when the 'check engine' light went on again. !! Turns out, another coil needed replacement and we decided to replace the other remaining two as well. Again, they fixed, all is well until we drove it more and 'check engine' was on again. I went back and asked how can this be? Checked all four coils and one was not good. They ordered the part and was able to install the next day. I paid nothing of any additional charges other than replacing the three coils. RK Motor I would recommend highly for their honesty, pricing for repairs and local to Riverwest! read more

(Which in -10 degree weather is a lifetime.) To my surprise they arrived within 30 minutes! (I KNOW RIGHT?!)
