I strongly recommend keeping copies of every repair order, invoice, warranty representation, and…read morecommunication you receive from this location. My experience involved repeated conflicting information regarding a prior alternator repair, warranty coverage, customer records, diagnostic charges, towing, and storage fees.
In 2025, my vehicle experienced a complete shutdown and was repaired at this Meineke location. The repair involved the alternator, and I was verbally told the work/parts carried a warranty.
On January 28, 2026, I returned with another no-start/charging-related problem. My Meineke repair order, RO #54217, specifically references previous RO #51669. The paperwork also contains printed language stating: "TOTAL WARRANTY ON ALL PARTS AND LABOR FOR 36 MONTHS OR 36,000 MILES, WHICHEVER COMES FIRST, FROM THE ORIGINAL DATE OF SERVICE." I specifically questioned whether the alternator or battery needed replacement and was told they did not.
After very limited additional mileage, my vehicle again developed serious charging/electrical problems and the alternator is now failing. When I returned to Meineke, I received conflicting information regarding the previous alternator repair and warranty.
The current store manager eventually told me in writing that there is no warranty in my name and that the previous alternator repair in their system is associated with "a different person." This was extremely concerning because I have Meineke paperwork for my vehicle referencing the previous repair order.
There were additional discrepancies. I was initially quoted $35/day for storage and later told in writing that it was $50/day because of new ownership. I was initially told my invoice included a tow even though State Farm arranged my tow; after I questioned it, the store acknowledged the confusion. I was also told I owed a diagnostic fee. When I asked when I authorized a customer-pay diagnostic, I was given an explanation that every vehicle is diagnosed, but I was not provided documentation showing when I authorized that customer-pay charge.
The manager ultimately offered in writing to release my vehicle without fees if I removed it that day, and I arranged for State Farm to retrieve it.
I escalated the matter to Meineke corporate Customer Service and submitted my repair documentation and screenshots. Corporate told me they had no record of my warranty, said they had not heard of the three-year warranty I described, and advised that because this is a franchise location, any resolution would have to come through the Oak Lawn location.
I cannot speak to anyone else's experience. I can only describe mine and the records I possess. My biggest concern is that I have Meineke paperwork for my vehicle referencing the previous repair, while the current manager says the relevant repair/warranty record is associated with another person and corporate says it has no record of the warranty.
I have retained my repair orders, invoices, screenshots, and communications. Based on my experience, I no longer have confidence in this location's recordkeeping, communication, or handling of warranty concerns and will not return.
