I knew this would be a mistake after seeing it was under new management. Thought I'd give them a chance. The 'technician' assigned to do my car started looking over to where I was seated in a shifty manner, then I saw him lift the hood and check my dipstick for oil! He then had a rather shifty looking conversation with the manager in Arabic, after which the manager came over to me with a 'fail' sheet, wrote $300.00 on the sheet and said my car had failed for 'metal on metal' brake failure. When I questioned this, as my car had been making no noise, and moreover no warning display had been activated, he started shouting in an attempt to overwhelm me. Then when I announced that I did not want the work done there, but would take it to my usual mechanic to do, he started doing the 'nice guy doing me a favor' act. "Look, you have work done here, I look after you, OK?" When I took it to another shop for a follow up inspection within 30 mins, they passed my car with flying colors, and advised me that the breaks were 100% fine. Also, they advised that an NYS inspection station can not fail a car for failing brakes, only emissions and overall safety. They can only advise if a car has poor brakes. These guys are slippery. They are scamming people. Avoid.

During a very distressing moment the wonderful staff at Prestige came to my rescue. Do not hesitate…read moreto trust them with your car. Starting from Wanda at the front desk who spoke calmly to me with heart and humor on to Mike and Joshua -the burly, bearded wizards of workmanship and maestro mechanics; and ending with the super helpful and feisty Jessica who cashed me out. Indeed even the other mechanics I encountered around the shop seemed available and ready to help. I'm a nationally touring family entertainer and my van IS my business. Full stop. Like most everyone if I can't drive I can't work. It's my chariot to glory, or my junk heap to the agony of disappointment for 100's of children if it doesn't work and the show CANT go on. But I've lived my 33 years as an entertainer that the show MUST go on and the team at Prestige Automotive in beautiful NYC are all now part of that deep-rooted tradition. THEY are to thank and to be appreciated and applauded. I hit a worst case scenario at during a Friday rush hour on Manhattans packed West Side Highway. Did is mention it was a FRIDAY MANHATTAN RUSH HOUR!? Total caca hitting the fan. My engine went haywire, lights and power flickering and fluttering like the big finale of a Las Vegas show. I was dead in the water. I made a hasty internet search and stumbled upon Prestige's Yelp reviews and made my decision due to the many excellent reviews (Yelp helped save the day too). Called and Wanda's steady and warm customer service sealed the deal. The first interaction in ANY biz is the most important moment and Wanda is the key player here. After a crazy hook up, tow and amazing maneuvering in a packed Harlem side street (kudos to Autorama who towed me off WSH) I was in the capable hands of Prestige. One great indicator was seeing a NYPD cop car in the shop. If they work on police cruisers they have to have the mojo. Prestige is the quintessential NY outfit with a hardworking friendly staff who all deserve raises and a standing ovation. Thank you.

I could never find one so I would always try to save my work for when I travel to Florida because I have such a mechanic there, but now I'm going to Tyrone32 for anything I need done when I'm in NYC. The reason: Orlando. I had a check engine light on. I had been calling around asking different shops if they run complimentary computer scans and general pricing for evap system issues, as I knew that was likely the culprit for my light. A few of the shops I called were kind of rude over the phone and didn't really want to spend any time answering questions. I came across Tyrone32 as I was driving around my new neighborhood and decided to call. I explained my situation to Orlando and he was so nice, listened to my thoughts, asked me some questions, and said just to drop in and he would check it out. He came out and ran a complimentary scan for me, checked out the car, and answered all of my questions. Orlando's customer service was amazing. After I left and arrived home, I noticed that a center button on my Jeep rim had popped out. I called Orlando to see if it had popped out somewhere at the shop and sent him a picture. He said that he couldn't find one that matched at the shop, but that he had a few extras laying around that were slightly different and he would just give me one if I came by--I mean how rare is it that someone just gives you something because they have an extra and you are in need? Super rare. Can't say enough about how great his customer service made me feel and again, I will be exclusively getting maintenance on my car here.
