I just got kicked out for my card declining. I called my bank realized the problem and it happened again. (Put in wrong pin) Realized what happened and went in to go explain it and he kicked me out... yeah... I don't really recommend this gas station... I stopped by for a cold drink while in the area and I noticed a cold cooler with deli paper wrapped sub sandwiches in a gas station so I'm intrigued and I picked up the Italian sub sandwich. Not really expecting much I found the Italian sub pretty tasty for a gas station sub sandwich and almost a chain sub shop sandwich Italian sub quality wise . The fresh French bread was immediately noticed with the buttery/creamy/chewy texture and the nice flavor with the Mayo taste on the Italian sub. Not very meaty but just right with fresh lettuce, cheese and tomatoes on the not bad bread. As an impulse sandwich buy wrapped in paper from a gas station I can't complain because it was so better than I expected and not the greatest sub sandwich but still very good from a gas station. As an impulse grab I was impressed with quality vs the crappy grocery store deli sub sandwich. read more

This is the best gasoline station in the city south. Easy access from downtown (take Water south to South 1st street), just a little ways off the Interstate (take the National exit, go Eastbound towards the lake, turn North-left at Steny's), you probably won't find better fuel prices until Oak Creek southbound (College avenue exit). This station is so big, there's access off of both second and first avenues, enough pumps you will never have to wait if you have a credit or debit card. It's like a turnpike oasis, without the clean restrooms but with better food options. The gas station itself is 24 hours, but at any given hour of the day, you will probably be accosted by beggars loitering and some can be annoyingly aggressive. They aren't very good at chasing off vagrants, and they aren't very good at keeping the window washing-squeegee receptacles full of soapy clean solution. There is a reasonably priced automatic carwash, lots of car vacuum and tire air stations (you need a dollar in quarters), that are usually operational. They will refund money without delay if there is a problem. There's a very good selection of snacks (moderately overpriced), groceries (very overpriced), usually fresh coffee, some baked goods, and some prepared dinners that are made that day, palatable (better than TV dinners if you know what they were). They have a good selection of ice cream, fairly priced dairy (and unlike other gas stations in the South Side, they stock skim milk, not expired), and soft drinks. There's a late night gyros place that is often your only late night after drinking choice of restaurant south of the campus areas. In the afternoon until early evening there's a fairly good Indian take out joint, and a decent liquor store, all in the same connected area. Times Square pizza was here but they are relocating so I don't know what's going into that spot. It's in between the Oak Leaf Trail and the Hank Aaron if you're taking a cross-metro bike trip, but they don't have bike racks. I chain up my bicycle to one of the restaurant railings and they don't seem to mind, but they all know me as a regular fat-guy customer. This place is just across the street from Coast In Bikes, so there's enough to do here that if you have drop off work to be done (repair flat tire) you don't have to just sit in the bike repair shop twiddling your thumbs. read more

Is it weird to review a gas station? Who cares, this one's awesome. What's not awesome is paying for gas. What IS awesome is the "station" itself. They have hummus and doughnuts and a deli and coconut water and advil and an atm and insoles for your shoes and an epic coffee station and freezy sugary-drinky times and pretty much anything you could ever want. 400 flavored waters to choose from? Yes. All the Snyder's pretzels. Yup. The requisite sunglass kiosk? It's more awesome than anywhere else. They probably just conjure stuff up in a magical room in the back of the store where a wizard most assuredly lives. For real though. This is a good freaking gas station. Nevermind that there's pizza and chocolate and booze next door. Or mind it, because that's awesome too. Can a gas station get five stars? Yes. This one does b/c it's the gas station all other gas stations should aspire to be. (Please note that the road trip gas stations you'll find north are also great, but for different reasons. This gas station is open 24 hours! There's a Gyro Palace next door that's has some delicious Gyros and is open until like 3-4a everyday! I used to go here a lot when I as working second shift so it was very convenient to have a gas station nearby that was open 24 hours. Every time that I came to this gas station, it was kept pretty clean and the gas pumps were in pretty good condition. I even noticed when they had an upgrade to their pumps! It was pretty neat to see that this gas station really valued the upkeep that it requires to run an establishment. This gas station also has a car wash, vacuum, and air. The car wash is very well kept and very clean. I really like the way my car looks after going through this car wash. In comparison to some other car washes that I have been to, this is by far the best that I have been to. So all in all, I would have to rate this gas station as superb because it sets the Gold Standard of what to expect from a good gas station. read more

This is THE BEST gas station anywhere near downtown. Not only are the pumps nice but they have a GREAT store with an awesome deli and one of THE BEST brushless car washes in town! Also, located next door is an AWESOME pizza place (New York Pizza) and a liquor store (Martha's Vineyard---with a SURPRISING wine selection in the walk-in cooler!). Also a short walk across the parking lot is a nice Greek joint. And though this is near downtown...they don't gouge you here on gas price! read more
