In a last-ditch effort, I googled "gym Moab" and found The Gym on 5th. They had a 6pm class and were a 4 minute drive away! Despite coming in only 5 minutes early (not cool in the CrossFit world) and in somewhat of a frenzy, I was welcomed and was able to sign myself and my friend up for the class. The coach (I believe one of the owners) was knowledgeable and thorough breaking down the movements we were performing in the WOD. The entire class was friendly and we were happy to work out with the other owner who was in the class. Though the box is small, they have everything needed for a successful not-CrossFit-but-totally-CrossFit box. I hope they get a lot more good reviews! They deserve them.

We stayed here over the weekend for some camping, and to experience two nearby national parks. This…read morereview is for the camping areas: We stayed at T06 which is near the creek. The facility itself is great: lots of space, clean bathrooms and showers, and tap water supply between each two camp areas. Evan (Kevin?) was also very courteous and came to check in us each day. For T06 Great shade but you will require an extra canopy to cover the front area that includes picnic tables, otherwise you are going to fry or get hit hard by random thunderstorms (yes it happened to us just now). Note there are insects out here that can be an annoyance for some. Bring extra bug spray or raid (if needed for ants), because they might crowd in certain areas. Grills are old school. Recommend you bring your own.

The scenery was breathtaking, but what truly made the experience unforgettable was our guide Shaun. Shaun was absolutely outstanding. He was incredibly knowledgeable, not only about the river, but also the history, geology, wildlife, and the entire surrounding area. Every question we asked was met with an interesting answer, and his passion for what he does really shines through. Beyond that, Shaun was kind, funny, smart, and made everyone feel comfortable and welcome from the moment we launched. He struck the perfect balance between keeping us safe, sharing fascinating information, and making sure we were having an amazing time. By the end of the trip, it felt like we had spent the day with a friend. We can't wait to come back to Moab and do it again! When we do, we will absolutely be requesting Shaun as our guide. If you're considering a rafting trip, don't hesitate - you'll make incredible memories, and if you're lucky enough to get Shaun, you're in for an unforgettable adventure!

I was super nervous about the rapids but it was honestly not bad at all. We even got in the water and floated thru the rapids at "swimmers rapids" and took some splashes in the face but it was still a ton of fun! It was warm out so getting splashed and in the water was refreshing! The smaller 6 person boats were the perfect size that you still got some bumps as you went thru the rapids vs the really huge boats some other companies had and it kept it to our family of 5.

Our guide, GRIFFIN, was phenomenal, sharing tons of insights about the river and its surroundings. Plus, watching my son jump into the river twice was a highlight that made the trip even more enjoyable! However, I was initially hesitant to go due to the "required extreme safety guidelines." To make matters worse, I was told that my cellphone with a waterproof case wasn't necessary, which resulted in a lack of up-close pictures. The scenery was breathtaking, and the experience overall was enjoyable. But if you're planning a trip, I'd recommend bringing your camera anyway for those perfect shots and ask from GRIFFIN! ‍

We found that Wild West voyages was very responsive and gave us periodic updates prior to our trip. On the day of our trip Jay picked us up at our hotel and drove us to the Canyonlands needle District. We can't see enough good things about our ghide Jay. He was informative, engaging, friendly, and really funny. We couldn't ask for a better guide. We stopped at various points and did two hikes in Canyonlands Totaling a little over 5 miles. Jay made it a point to keep the pace slow and easy. Wild West Voyages provided snacks, water, and a great lunch. We enjoyed our tour of the needles district so much that we immediately booked a white water rafting trip the following day. We spoke with Catherine at Wild West and she couldn't have been more helpful. She booked us for a rafting tour the very next day. We were pleasantly surprised the rates which we believe to be very reasonable. We recommend Wild West Voyoges to anyone who's thinking about taking a tour in and around Moab.

Ken's Lake, which is about ten miles south of Moab, is a gorgeous area, with red rock fins to the east, sage brush flats to the south and west, and a reservoir to the north. The campground has two loops. Loop A can accommodate larger RVs, and require reservations through Recreation.gov or on-site through Scan and Pay if you've downloaded the Recreation.gov app. Note that there is almost no shade in this loop. Loop B is intended for smaller vehicles and tents. These are first-come, first served sites with payment thru Scan and Pay or by check or cash. Note that the campground is closed during the hottest summer months. See recreation.com for exact dates. We had a spacious, quiet non-electric site with gorgeous views. It was an easy walk down to the lake, and an easy drive to Arches National Park (15 miles?) The park was quiet overall but even more so when the day use patrons left for the day. There were clean restrooms, but no showers. The campground felt safe. The price for a site was reasonable, especially with a NPS Senior Interagency Pass. We would definitely stay here again.
