Our Fisher Towers full-day rafting trip with Red River Adventures was one of the highlights of our…read morevacation, and our guide, Molly, was a huge reason why! She was hilarious, incredibly knowledgeable, and kept us laughing all day with river guide stories and jokes. One of our favorite parts was when Molly pointed out a Padlé Oarefish. We'd never even heard of one before! She explained they're unusually flat fish, most commonly yellow with blue, red, or pink accents, and they're surprisingly well camouflaged along the river. Such a cool thing to learn! She also showed us a rock formation that looked exactly like Winnie the Pooh wearing a beret and breathing fire. Once you see it, you can't unsee it! The wildlife was unbelievable. We saw bighorn sheep, three otters, geese, blue herons (mud flamingos), a baby deer, a fox catching a fish, and a huge eagle nest. Molly said we're officially her lucky group because they usually only see a couple of those animals, and she'd never seen the deer or the fox on a trip before. Lunch was fantastic too! The "conewiches" were surprisingly delicious. We were a little hesitant because we'd never tried Mediterranean food before, but the homemade Mediterranean salad with feta and kettle chips folded into a tortilla absolutely rocked. I'm still wishing I had Molly's recipe! If you're thinking about rafting in Moab, book the Fisher Towers trip with Red River Adventures. If you get Molly as your guide, consider yourself lucky. You'll leave with great memories, sore cheeks from laughing, and probably a newfound appreciation for the rare and majestic Padlé Oarefish. Oh, and I t's officially Hank's Bubble Bath in our book. We got to swim through one of the rapids which was so fun! The rapids were small but fun. Lunch was delicious - curried chicken salad, chickpea salad, and guacamole cones, with Oreos! Our guide Liz, and Team Leader Aaron made sure we had a great trip - they pointed our animals like wild goats, blue herons, and bald eagles, and Liz really helped make sure we had a great day. It was clear that us having a great experience was their number one priority, and we really appreciated their flexibility and foresight. Gabe was super competent and while we were nervous for the rappelling, it was clear he really knew his stuff and we felt like we were in expert hands. We were taken up in a large all-terrain vehicle, which added a fun start to the experience. Choosing the 11:00 time slot was perfect--it meant a smaller group, less waiting, and more time to explore afterward. The ride up felt like a mini tour with incredible views and interesting insights along the way. Our group of eight was the perfect size, especially compared to some of the larger groups we saw. Instructions were clear. You are also able to clip in with a harness while watching others jump--great for taking photos of friends with you. Before each jump, the team carefully double-checked harnesses and made sure everyone felt confident and safe. Loved the pull back up, peaceful and quiet. Fun crew, with just enough sarcasm.
