Great Service…read more Usually, when you have a car, you always have a inkling that a bad situation could happened to you, like forgetting your keys in the car or losing them in a cab. But when you bike, the only things you worry about is having it stolen. So my GF and I lock out bikes with two u-locks, getting the frame and tires secured. Well, it just so happens that her u-lock jammed. We were in a desolate stretch. After spending an hour kicking and swearing, we walk a block to home depot to see what they have to say... in short we walk out with a low tech solution, a hammer and wd-40 (they recommended us to rent a grinder, but it needed electricity which we didn't have nor did they have battery powered ones.) Another hour spent and nothing... so we look up locksmiths. Dependable was the 2nd one listed on yelp and we called him up. He was very nice and gave us suggestions on what to do. We did everything he said, even the last ditch effort, which was to force the key (giving a 50/50 chance it would disengage the lock or it would break off.). The key broke. :( We would've called dependable locksmith as his prices were extremely reasonable, especially at 10 pm in the night. But some guy next door at the factory at a battery powered grinder and cut it off for us (it was a really kind thing to do and really unexpected... just to show you even in a shady area, good sometimes exists). Once we got on our way, Dependable Locksmith actually called back to see how I was doing. That was very professional and thoughtful.

I shopped around but the most value was ordering it online from an automotive remote site. I interacted with Adam and he was able to show up on the early weekend morning. His text are professional and clear, & he included pictures. Mazda even as far back as 2005 (car was delayed as released as an 2006) used a key card. There is a chip in the card and one in the valet key. Mazda blank metal doesn't have all the slots cut into the blank either. Getting the car to go into reprogram mode didn't work because the console said I need two "keys." However there is a chip in both the medal key and card. So one transmitter set will work, or should have. He drove an hour back and forth to get the other generic key and had to modify it with a Dremel rotary tool so that the key would have tolerance to get through the tabs on the ignition. That didn't work and he is coming back next week to try again with just another chipped key. Didn't charge a trip fee for making a round trip, nor for the generic key that didn't work. I will spread the word within the MazdaSpeed group so they can get help if the elect to get the Mazda key card instead of generic. At least have one original card and one generic real key. At this point I elected to tow it to Mazda DG for them to try with my key. Because if I buy theirs, its considered an "installed electronic part," and they won't accept returns. Too risky for $400. If they can do it I just pay for 1/2 hour of programming. Worst case I have to buy their key, mine is also OEM (not eBay/Amazon). His company slogan should be either 'The Locksmith from Lockport,' or 'The Lockport Locksmith.'

They didn't work and I spent HOURS driving back and forth to have them try again, and ultimately to return them), Mark made copies of the key quickly and they worked! and when we needed some springs in our lock fixed, Mark was responsive! He told me he would arrive in about an hour, and about ten minutes out gave me a courtesy call to let me know he was close by. He not only fixed the lock, he also tightened up the screws and the screen door (that would slam shut previously). Mark was courteous, kind, professional and knowledgeable throughout the whole experience. Definitely going with Mark again anytime we have any key/lock needs! Thank you!

Ben tried several different models of key fobs and still couldn't get it to work. Ben informed me that he would need to special order the key fob and would be back on Friday or Monday.
