Update : the management has just resolved the issue. I had an extremely disappointing experience with MNS Real Estate. After paying the security deposit and first month's rent as instructed, I was promised a fully countersigned lease. However, despite repeated follow-ups, I have yet to receive the signed lease. Their communication is abysmal--it takes forever to get a response to my emails, and I constantly have to chase them for updates. I feel completely misled by their team. They (the leasing manager) assured me the signed lease would be provided after payment, but once they got the money, they disappeared. Their agents seem solely focused on securing payments rather than providing any real service or professionalism. I haven't even moved into the apartment yet, and I'm already deeply concerned about how unprofessional and unreliable this company is. If this is how they treat tenants during the leasing process, I can't imagine what it'll be like once I'm living there. I would not recommend working with this company. read more

He clearly doesn't care about his job. When I reached out to MNS via email, I never heard back. When I called them, I never heard back. Listings online can be inaccurate. I saw a listing for a lower than usual price and I emailed about it to multiple people, I never got a response. I called one of the agents and he picked up and he said the price is low over 12 months because its 3 months free, and the actual monthly price would be much higher. I told him the listing doesn't say that and how would anyone know if it doesn't have this information listed? He repeated "its there" and I read the entire listing over and over and not once does it say anything about the true monthly price and that it was lower because it took into account the 3 months free. Even 2 days ago, I got an e-mail about a listing in Brooklyn and the e-mail says $1,598 per month. When you click on the link and open the listing on the website, the price is $2,500. I just wanted to clarify that when I visited the apt on March 25th, the broker told me he received an application one hour ago (and confirmed it was accepted when I asked him the following day ...) so that was not true, as you mentioned below your received an application on April 5th (10 days later...) FYI April 13th is the date I wrote my review, not the date I visited the apt. When I visited it, it was available and it stayed available 10 more days...WHY? I have all the emails we exchanged with the date, incentive price, and confirmation it was rented! This guy is a liar or a very unprofessional broker. He showed me an other apt on the 41st floor, maybe it is the one you make reference, but this one was much more expensive...and unlike the 1st apt there was no incentive on top of that. read more

My cousin applied for a unit in bedstuy. 2 roommates and their 2 guarantors (of which I am one) had to submit an application online and pay a $20 fee. On top of that, we had to submit all our information including social security numbers, tax returns, bank statements, etc. The real estate agent, Anna Shushkevich, was very communicative until she got our money and information and then completely ghosted us. This smells like a scam - I would avoid this firm at all costs. read more

I went to an open house for a new building and after touring several layouts of the available one bedrooms (a couple of them were already rented), I expressed my interest in applying for a one bedroom especially since it has a 3 month free rent incentive. I was told by Tanya Thornhill that I would receive an application to apply. Exactly how long does it take to forward an application? Because I'm still waiting. I tried reaching out to Veronika Khen to get the application since it seemed Tanya was just that busy. However Veronika was short after I gave her my name and email and said contact Tanya. Well Tanya is clearly not getting back to me which is why I asked you for assistance (plus I asked if she was managing other properties besides that one which would have explained the delay but she said no). It's clear they have no intention of letting me apply because they only want households that make 100k to apply. Even after I told them I've been facing income discrimination they turned around and did the same thing. If your household makes under 100k a year don't bother with this real estate agency. They don't want your business! They only care about helping rich people! read more

Recently worked with Jermaine Phillips to find an apartment in Queens. We absolutely loved the place, great deal, immediately wanted to snag it. Unfortunately, this process was worse than pulling teeth. Jermaine was non-responsive and refused to answer questions. When we pointed out inconsistencies with the lease and asked that it would be amended, he tried to tell us the lease was correct without making the changes he agreed to. He never gave updates unless we asked and communication was horrible. Honestly, I just wanted the process to be over so we stuck it out and finished. I normally would not write a review or complain to customer service even, but when Jermaine emailed a document with my social security number out to all of my roommates in addition to the management, that was the last straw. I thought sending an unencrypted document with my personal information was bad enough, but to top it off he was rude and condescending (see attached screenshots). Not to mention he sent us another clients Rhino document... hope he didn't accidentally send my SSN to other people too. If you are looking for someone to be just horribly unprofessional and then gaslight you about it, Jermaine is the way to go. I will say, I almost gave 2 starts because their CEO Andrew was very responsive when I reached out about the privacy concern. He said they wouldn't allow leases with W9 forms to be sent via email anymore, but at the end of the day, that doesn't help me. The experience with Jermaine made this 1 star review unrecoverable. 5 STARS FOR MONIFA CHARLES AND JASON BARROCAS. 1 STAR FOR MNS REALTY. In May, 2023, I submitted my application for an apartment I'd toured with an MNS real estate agent. After being approved for the apartment, I signed the lease for said apartment and submitted all applicable fees/funds. Without going into extensive detail, there were red flags during the application process (i.e., having to pay a broker's fee when the listing was initially advertised as broker fee-free) and after. Ultimately, the lease was voided after my original move-in date, because the apartment had to be removed from the market after a "random" inspection by the city uncovered traces of lead in the apartment (I say "random" because after conducting my own research, I learned that as recently as October, 2022, the city had documented lead-related violations in said apartment). Long story short: after having received various different timelines from the real estate agent with whom I was working, and after learning from a representative from the actual management company that said timelines were not applicable to the apartment because it had actually been removed from the market all together, I reached out to the agent and requested a complete refund of all the fees I'd paid to date. Aside from the issues I described above, another problem at this point was that I had to be ruthlessly proactive in order to communicate with the real estate agent who'd previously had no issue responding to me/reaching out on his own before I'd paid all the upfront costs. Once said costs were paid for and I had signed the lease, I had to constantly reach out for updates; when I inquired about a concession previously offered, I did not receive a response; and when I first reached out about receiving a refund, I initially did not hear back. When the latter occurred, I was certain that I'd been scammed. I reached out to MNS Realty, but to no avail: after a million unanswered phone calls to the main office, I grew desperate and scared. Enter Jason and Monifa: I had not previously engaged with either of these agents, nor were they in any way involved with all that had transpired with the apartment for which I'd signed the lease. However, both Jason and Monifa, whom I'd reached only after having pressed random phone extensions out of desperation, immediately got to work to provide their help: both asked me for my information so that they could further look into the situation; both reached out to the agent with whom I was working; and both conducted multiple follow ups that day and the next to ensure that my issue had been resolved and my funds refunded to me. It was only after I'd reached out to Jason and Monifa that I heard back from the real estate agent with whom I was originally dealing. I had an awful experience with MNS Realty and am skeptical of some of their practices. At best, what I experienced is the result of incompetency: a failure on the real estate agent's/realty's part to conduct due diligence prior to listing an apartment and drafting/sharing a lease with a prospective tenant for signature. At worst, there is a degree of dishonesty practiced at stages of the application and leasing processes. However, agents Monifa and Jason deserve positive recognition for their willingness to go above and beyond to help me when my situation was not their burden to bear. Monifa and Jason demonstrated true professionalism. If you find yourself having to work with MNS Realty in your future hunt for an apartment, I'd suggest sticking to working with Monifa and Jason to be safe. read more

But what really pisses me off is getting emailed by a broker (Emilson Vasquez) on June 20th and have since emailed him back on the same day and again on a June 22 and here it is the 27th still no response. Why even email me to begin with if you aren't actually going to communicate? I have have a broker fee set aside so they would get paid and still they are no responding. We looked at a place in inwood and the info in the listing boasted about the Bronx. They never text you back. It appears they have more than they can handle. It's a shame. They have some listings in Inwood that are great but not sure who will get to see them. Thank goodness there's plenty of good deals in Inwood to go around. read more
