Looking for a decent quick meal? This place has yummy rotisserie chicken and some standard side dishes such as rice, plantains, fries, cole slaw beans and such. They have decent empanadas and good choices of sauces. The employees are very friendly and service oriented. Shorts and tee shirts are perfect for dining in this place! Basic booths and tables and it's very kid friendly. Very relaxed environment. Try the horchata while you are there. My favorite place to eat in the entire Calabash area. Every time I come around here(calabash) I have to make a stop to this restaurant. They have the best tacos, empanadas and plantains I have ever had!!! Don't even get me started with their chicken. So authentic and good OMG. The service is awesome too. My experience with Peruvian cuisine is very limited. However, the rotisserie chicken at this place is great. The fried yucca was really good. We also enjoyed the spinach and cheeses empanadas. LOVE this place and Walter the owner! Owner and his wife are SO nice! When I visited the first time he said "you'll come back tomorrow" I did! Chicken is so plump juicy and flavorful very delightful. The boiled potatoes seem like a simple plain side but they are excellent soft skin pillowy inside. The rice and black beans are my go to but I did learn on my last visit they have other beans too so I'm excited to try those as well. The empanadas and torts fabulous as well. I'm a huge tamale fan so I'm dying to try the tamales but everytime I go in with that plan I give in and get the chicken. Very clean with generous portions of good food in a welcoming environment. It's one of if not the best place in Calabash. The chimichurri sauce is addictive. Very fresh and light but delivers a double punch of flavor. It is very garlicky so if you aren't a garlic fan you may not appreciate as much as garlic lovers but it's delicious I wish I could buy it in large portions. It super fresh not something they are just dumping into portion cups from a bottle. As a matter of fact their chimichuri sauce is more flavorful and fresh tasting than the same sauce at the Brazilian steakhouse's version down the road in North Myrtle and their chicken (I know I know different nationalities but) is FAR better than any chicken I've ever eat at the Brazilian steakhouse. read more

The friendly guy ( I believe it was the owner) replied that they would see us again the next day. My husband and I both loved the entrées. Located off the main road, you need to look for it. The bright exterior helps. Parking is plentiful on both sides of the building. There are also handicapped spaces. On entering, go down the line on the right to see the menu board. Then go to the cash register at the end of the line to order and pay. You get a number and they bring the food to you. We initially went for the empanadas but found so much more. The empanadas are slightly smaller than I am used to, but not terribly so. They are filled with your choice of beef, chicken, or pork. Either is a fine choice. The dough is well cooked and does not overpower the filling. The burrito was outstanding. I chose the pork, which is slow cooked, moist, and tender. The burrito was huge and stuffed with a good amount of meat in addition to rice and a lot of other items. I honestly liked it so much I forgot to take a photo. The chicken is baked, moist, and tender. The flavor is excellent. The pork taco used the same meat as the burrito, with onion and cilantro. It was a great choice. Make sure you also try the fried yucca. They also have a variety of sauces. The hot red and green have different flavors but about the same intense heat. There is also a mild green paste sauce and a thinner mild green sauce. Both have different and excellent flavors. You can find something to fit your heat preference and flavor. This is definitely worth a stop. The flavors are different from typical Mexican food, and they do a great job with their offerings. read more

The BEST empanadas! If I could give ten stars, I would. I've taste-tested lots of empanadas in Peru, the States, and made my own and these are by far the best. Tried one of each of chicken, beef, and spinach ricotta. Not greasy, baked to a golden tender brown. Each flavored a bit differently and equally delicious. The chimichurri sauce served with them was garlicky and herby. Also had the flan. Perfectly baked custard with perfect amount of burnt sugar sauce. Need I say more?! They do their tamales in the banana husk as well which is a little different from what I'm accustomed to but still was delicious. Our uber driver redirected us to the restaurant (we originally selected a subpar location a few blocks away - the driver encouraged us to switch restaurants - glad she did). Delicious food, vibrant/clean dining room, and warm staff. So impressed that we ordered a dozen alfajores and arranged to pick them up the day of our flight home. When we arrived the restaurant was closed due to a water main break in the area. The owner left a note on on door with his contact information and drove to the restaurant to ensure we received our order.
