I love Salvadoran food although there aren't many restaurants around this area of town, finding El Ranchito Salvadoreño was a pleasant surprise. It's located close to McCleod hospital and seems to be a popular spot. The pupusas' are delicious and their tacos are on point. Make sure to try their salsas. The restaurant itself isn't anything fancy but it seems clean. The service is good and I heard the server explaining to someone what goes into a pupusa which if you've never had one I highly recommend that you try it. read more

Excellent! This place has a very nice casual look, very warm and "feels like home". The music is very nice and appropriate to the atmosphere and type of food served. We enjoyed the Desayuno Campesino the plantains, beans and everything papaya is delicious! The avocado was served very fresh and delicious, well done El Ranchito Salvadoreño ! Pleasant Surprise I have watched several restaurants come and go at this location, but I think this one is here to stay. The dining area is clean, fresh and bright - and comfortable. My server was prompt, smiling and helpful. My lunch cost only $6.00, and it was a more than enough. I am not familiar with the cuisine of El Salvadore, so I cannot comment on how authentic El Ranchito is, but I can tell you that what I was served was delicious. I tried one of the signature dishes of El Salvadore, PUPUSAS, sort of a cross between a Mexican tortilla, and empanada or a tamal. The corn meal dough brought a nice texture and flavor to the dish. I tried one filled with cicharron (minced pork) and one with beans. Both were delicious and served with a traditional curtido de repollo (like a cole slaw), which was fresh, crisp and simple. I will definitely be back to try some of their other Central American specialties. read more
