There's plenty of parking, we were seated right away & given chips with salsa. The waiter and the service great. We didn't find out about the cockroaches until afterwards. I had the "lunch quesadilla alambre" and my husband the "burrito deluxe". Always a fantastic meal! We called ahead for a reservation for a group of 8 and were pleasantly surprised when they could accommodate us. When we arrived we were seated immediately! Our waiter was kind and had a great smile and was attentive throughout our meal. He started us out with homemade chips and salsa which the kids devoured. The queso was also quite good. Everyone ordered a variety of meals from fajitas to taquitos to quesadillas and other authentic Mexican dishes that I can't even remember the names of now. Everyone's meal was delicious and plentiful, especially the fajitas which were made into lunch the next days as there was so much! This is my second visit. First time in the Summer of 2024 was very good. Something bad must have happened in the last year. The food was bland. To prevent language problems I showed the menu to the server to be certain my order would be correct. It was not. Food came out piecemeal. The place is dirty. I honestly really don't have much to say as dinner was nothing to write home about but it wasn't terrible to really complain about it was just basic. Nothing authentic and nothing stood out on the menu as unique or different from your basic run of the mill Mexican restaurants. This is more the type of place you would just pop in for lunch for a quick, easy, and cheap lunch combo. The salsa was thin but I was fine with that because it had a very light and fresh flavor and texture which was nice on a super hot day. I had a beer while I waited for my carry away order and it came from a super cold draft so I would visit again for drinks though they don't have a proper bar for sitting and drinking you have to take a table. I had the chimichangas. Since I typically get tamale or chili relleno I would certainly try this place again to try either or both of those items. read more

I'll start by saying that there aren't many Mexican restaurants in the area. So when I say Las Palmeras has the best food, it means the food is decent there, but not great. We have been regular patrons for many years. On our last two visits, while the food was OK, the service was atrocious. Rude and insulting is the best way to describe it. If you treat your regulars like this, I can only imagine how you treat the tourists! No mas! Never again! There is a new Mexican restaurant on Beach Dr in Calabash that seems to be drawing a good crowd but I haven't tried it yet. And I highly recommend MMM Que Rico, a family-owned restaurant in Calabash. They bill themselves as a Peruvian rotisserie chicken restaurant but have fantastic burritos, empanadas, etc. read more

In fact, he just told me that "we just sprayed." On top of the roaches -- we had to ask for silverware and water at least three times. Staying on Ocean Isle, the offerings are traditionally beach-centric and my kids aren't in it for the seafood. But tonight, my son - the resident picky eater - was finally happy. Overall it was good, nothing award winning. The salsa was so bland it had absolutely zero flavor I didn't bother eating it. The margarita was delicious. I ordered a taco salad and made it vegan and it was pretty good but I also doused it with Valentina hot sauce. The service was good. They weren't overly friendly but nice enough I guess. First off the service is absolutely fantastic, quick, and helpful. and the food. this is the most fantastic food i have ever experienced. nothing can even compare, this food is sent straight from heaven. Nothing on this menu is bad. everything is elite. I highly HIGHLY recommend the grilled chicken quesadilla. the perfect combination of creamy gooey tasty cheese and a perfectly seasoned and cooked chicken. i could eat this everyday for the rest of my life. Good place but I can't say anything for the in house...we actually only ever order take out. My daughter loves it here and she's a pretty picky eater so that's saying something. I am personally a fan of the fajitas and chori dip, and my wife leans toward quesadillas or chimichangas. Food has always been hot when I got it home and our orders have been correct aside from maybe one or two times when a sauce got left out or something. The carryout people are always friendly to us, no idea about the regular wait staff, management, or cooks, again always do take out. This is the worst Mexican restaurant I have ever been to. If I could give it zero stars, I would. Our first clue was the menus, that appeared moldy. They weren't, but the border on the paper was off-putting and we should have listened to our gut and left before we ordered. The chips and salsa were not great. The Chile con queso that was part of my order was basically a tortilla floating in a pool of cheese next to my enchilada on my plate, which was also submerged in the pool of cheese. I kick myself for not taking a picture of this. I didn't receive any rice or beans and I believe everything was supposed to come with them. My friend couldn't eat her food because the ground beef was burned (didn't know that was possible), the tortillas were soggy and the beans were runny. read more
