They are rude on the phone! They actually hung up on me when I called about a letter I received in the mail.

I asked Simon Wallace to check my foundation due some exterior cracks in the masonry. It had settled almost an inch over nearly twenty years of exposure on the steep sloping terrain. Eight piers stabilized the footers and a recent check showed excellent results after nine months of extreme weather conditions. This is a great relief!

The foundation continues to shift leading to cracks inside and outside that thousands of dollars in repairs every few years years. They don't understand how clay soil works and their warranty is useless because it doesn't cover the cost of cosmetic repairs as a result of their shoddy work. If they perform any warranty work, you're still on the hook for thousands in cosmetic repairs. Ask them if their foundation repair work also requires that you add a French drain. You don't have to take my word for it. To protect yourself, ask them to put the items below in the written contact. They will refuse. 1. They are responsible for repairing any cosmetic damage that results from any flaws in their foundation work. 2. They are responsible for repairing the interior floor if they have to repair an interior beam. 3. They guarantee that the foundation work keeps the foundation from moving up, down or horizontally. (Clay soil expands and contracts, so you don't want the foundation moving) 4. Guarantee that their beams won't angle due to soil shift Any company that knows their work is good will stand by it and have a robust warranty. Quality Foundation Repair's warranty is bare bones with exceptions for virtually everything.

Kenneth Larson was fantastic. I've been a real estate investor, part time, for about 10 years and…read morethis was one of the best home inspections I've gotten. He said he would show up at 1:00, he was there at 1:02 (this is rare- so many inspectors are constantly LATE.) You can book him online, I was able to get him to come to my property the next day, which was great because he was booked solid for a week, and we needed an inspection immediately. That I could see when he was available and schedule him while I was at work, without a dozen back and fourth calls, was a complete win. His inspection was very thorough, and when I asked him questions, he was incredibly knowledgeable about everything. Between being in the industry for 10 years, and being a fourth generation contractor, I know when people really know their stuff or can just talk the talk, and Ken really knows his stuff. As a side note, and something I very much enjoyed, Ken was great at explaining things at my level. I'm ass-ignorant about electrical (it's the only system in a house I can't completely tear down and rebuild by myself), and he was able to answer my questions so I knew exactly what was wrong. On the things where I know a lot, he adjusted the level of his explanation. He also assumed I was competent and didn't do any of the "you're just a little lady" crap that you can get from men in the trades, especially of a certain generation, when you're female. I know most of them don't even realize they're being patronizing and perhaps decades of exposure has made me oversensitive, but I didn't get a whiff of that from Ken. He said he would have the report up on his website within 24 hours, it was (even though it was Saturday- I didn't have to wait all weekend, although 24 business hours would have been reasonable). Yes, you can get a cheaper inspection elsewhere, but I don't think you can get one this good at this price elsewhere, and I don't think you can get the kind of service that Ken gave for this price elsewhere. I will be using him again.

After tracking down the inspector, he denied responsibility and demanded he talk to our contractor vs tell me if my pipe was safe. The conversation ended by him hanging up on me by my questioning if we had an issue with our line, yet him already approving it. I then went to report the incident to his manager, who confirmed the pipe should not have been approved, and he would get back to me with what I needed to do. I followed up with him three times, and he's ignored every message. We paid for an inspection from ATS to know if our gas line was installed safely to have a tech approve an unsafe pipe, deny it, communicate unprofessionally, his boss ghost us, and after 3 weeks, we still do not know if our gas line is safe. Flagging for the city that ATS has approved an unsafe line and will not communicate nor follow up after multiple attempts.
