It's rare these days to find a company that cares this much about their customers, but Marty and his team truly do.

I'd give these people 0 stars if I could. I made the mistake of hiring them to clean out my chimney…read moreafter receiving numerous unsolicited calls from them. Upon arriving, Mike the contractor found that our chimney was unlined (not atypical for older homes apparently). He made a big fuss about how dangerous this is and how important it was to get it done; he invoked God's name several times in order to assure us that he's a god-fearing fair man who hates other companies that take advantage of people with their high prices and even told us that there would be no charge for the "inspection" since although we hired him for a cleaning, gas running chimney "don't need to be cleaned". Why does this company call offering services that they know are actually unnecessary??? And then use the non-charging of it as a sign of their generosity?? Anyway, we were so concerned about the potential for gas leakage that we signed the provisional contract with them, with the understanding that you have until 2 days before the installation date to cancel the contract. I called around to other companies and lo and behold, a small business nearby with excellent reviews could do the same job for more than $1,000.00 less!! I called to cancel the appointment well within the allotted time but getting Mike the owner to call back is almost impossible. It seems he's never in and is the only one who can handle canceling of contracts. Instead of getting a call back from him I got a furious call from Mike the contractor, shouting at me about what an inconsiderate person I am, explaining away the reasons why larger business like their charge more (what??!), and trying to verbally bully me into letting them do the job for a lower fee. I actually had to hang up on him because of the yelling. It wan't until my 3rd call to the company over the span of that day that Mike the owner called back to try to be the good cop and gently try to coax me into going ahead with the contract with them. There was no way I was going to give them any business at this point and I made that clear, so Mike the owner decided that I owed them about $70 for the inspection and estimate. As Mike the contractor stated when I met him, NO ONE should pay for a chimney cleaning if they have gas since it's not necessary, and, if you checked their site at the time I did business with them, they were supposedly doing FREE estimates for lining installations. None of that applied to me apparently and I felt worn down by the day-long arguments with these people (including the rude office assistants who took my messages), so I decided they were far too desperate for that money and let them have it so long as I cancelled the contract. I was much happier about the service I got from the small local business I went with and I would recommend everyone shop around before doing business with these Em &Em. Their business practices are disgusting.

From the start, Moses--the owner--was incredibly professional, responsive, and easy to work with. He listened to our ideas, offered great suggestions, and made sure every part of the project was handled with care and attention to detail. The patio looks beautiful with clean lines and a solid finish, and the Trex deck came out even better than we expected. The crew was respectful of our property, kept the site clean, and worked efficiently without cutting corners. You can tell they take pride in their craft. We've already received so many compliments from friends and neighbors. If you're looking for quality workmanship and a contractor you can trust, L&M Masonry is the way to go. Moses, the owner or LM masonry, came to the rescue and came up with a game plan of how to fix our previous hazardous mason work (from a different company) and made our path to our front door, sidewalk, and basement egress safe while keeping it in a budget that was reasonable for me. Moses and his team arrived on time and were very kind and respectful of my property. They always cleaned up the worksite each day, and the expectation of the time the work will take was accurate. The quality of work was truly amazing Moses completed. He really did an incredible job and we are so grateful we found Moses and his team. Thank you Moses and crew for your amazing work!

1 Star - Defective Work, No Contract, Avoided Responsibility…read moreI hired Long Island Mason & Concrete Corp in June 2024 to pour a concrete patio for $5,900. The experience was a nightmare from start to finish. The Problems: The contractor requested payment in cash and never provided a written contract, which is required by New York law for jobs over $500. Within one week of the pour, two slabs began flaking and scaling. I immediately contacted the contractor. The work was done on a 100-degree day. When I raised concerns about the extreme heat affecting the concrete, the contractor acknowledged "this is the result of extreme heat" but refused to take responsibility as the professional who should have managed weather conditions or rescheduled. Months of Delays: Instead of promptly addressing the defects, the contractor stalled for months. When he finally offered to replace the two damaged slabs, he demanded I sign a liability waiver and warned the new concrete wouldn't match the color of the existing slabs - meaning I'd have a permanently mismatched patio due to his defective work. I offered a reasonable cash settlement to resolve the issue. He refused. I had no choice but to file a complaint with Nassau County Consumer Affairs. Official Violations: Consumer Affairs cited the contractor for multiple violations, including failure to provide a written contract (violation 202360, originally a $2,500 fine). He only agreed to a settlement after facing thousands in fines and potential license suspension. Ongoing Defects: After settling, two additional slabs developed structural cracks running completely across the slabs from joint to joint. All four slabs now show defects, confirming my original concern that the entire pour was compromised. Bottom Line: For a $5,900 job, I received a defective patio that required a 7-month battle through Consumer Affairs to get partial compensation. The contractor operates without proper contracts, pours in extreme conditions without adequate precautions, and avoids responsibility when problems arise. I strongly recommend hiring a licensed contractor who provides written contracts, follows proper procedures, and stands behind their work. This is not that contractor.
