I've lived in this neighborhood for 16 years. Split was a welcome addition to the selection of neighborhood healthy, fast food (with great outdoor seating options in Covid). But that SPECIAL sauce, the reason to continue to returning...is Tasha. She is absolutely incredible, a ray of sunshine that differentiates this establishment from every other option on the street. Tasha exudes amazing customer service: she remembers you, what you like to order, and always makes you feel special. As I was sitting outside today, smiling at my experience with her, no less than 8 other people walked by my table, saying how much they loved her. The food is good, Tasha's customer service is EXCEPTIONAL. She is what drives loyalty. Nice addition to the team, Split. I'll revisit weekly, as long as she is there to greet me. read more

I absolutely loved coming to eat at this Split location. Beautiful, modern, minimalistic aesthetic, and delicious, fresh, customizable, well-portioned salads. Fast service and nice employees. The Beetbox salad with roasted chicken is the best salad I've ever had in my entire life (and I've had a lot of salads!) It consists of Mixt greens, arugula, roasted golden beets, avocado, goat cheese, toasted walnuts, dried cranberries, fennel, savory herbs, and balsamic vinaigrette to top it off. You would think goat cheese with dried cranberries would be a strange combination, but it is a perfect harmony of savory, sharp creaminess, tart / tangy cranberry, and refreshing beets. The parmesan truffle fries are good, but not the best I've had, and I think revamping the recipe should be something the Split culinary team should think about! I think the fries are a little too skinny, and that cheesy flavor overwhelms the truffle flavor. They're also not as crispy as I would have liked. But this is just a personal opinion! read more

I was skeptical to come here because of the reviews but I wanted a chicken sandwhich and this is right next to my new apartment so this is how it went: Ordered on Uber eats, walked there and waited in the lobby and in wasn't busy at all. I waited a standard 10-15 minutes for the food to finish, and it ended up being 12-15 minutes late than what uber eats expected. So a total time of about 30 minutes after ordering on the app during an extremely un busy hour. A lady working there scowled at me when we met eyes and I smiled, have no idea why. I had to ask another person if my order was ready (again 12-15 minutes late on top of the standard 12-15 minute wait time) and he brought it right when I asked (seemed as if it was sitting in the kitchen for some time) Got home and opened up my order. The bun on the fried chicken sandwhich was cold and we and seemed steamed as it had been sitting in the packaging for some time. The chicken was dry and flavorless and not crunchy whatsoever. The sandwhich was stacked in a hurry and without care. Sandwich was nearly $18 and not good and quite small. I've had chicken sandwiches elsewhere for the same price with twice the food and 10x the flavor. Fries were decent. Overall huge rip off, poor service. Everything about the dish is perfect: the refried beans, the small amount of Jack cheese grated large so it doesn't bunch up, touch of green leaf crispy lettuce, sliced not smashed avocado, over easy eggs without runny whites, fresh cilantro. It never showed up, despite my delivery driver being at the restaurant. I'm not sure why it took an hour to realize they "couldn't fill my order" or why, if something was out-of-stock, I wasn't given the option to replace it. Came here with the kids for lunch. The restaurant was clean, roomy and have got really good selections from salads, sandwiches and burgers. We order: Kids cheese burger with cheese came with apple slices and veggies. Kids chicken, came with slice apples and veggies. Chicken Parm sandwich. Skirt steak salad. Split fries with parm cheese and a dipping. All the items was excellent. Lots of flavor and the portion was decent. We will definitely be back to try other items on the menu. This is my favorite restaurant in my neighborhood. Everything is great. I especially like their salads and huevos rancheros. I wish people would stop complaining about the prices because this place is cheaper than most (much cheaper than Blue Barn!), and the servings are large. This is San Francisco for f%#$'s sake, and yet Split has prices on par with my favorite Dallas spots! I wish people would give them more good reviews. The woman complaining about a lack of outlets is wrong. There are outlets by some of the tables. The atmosphere is great. I love the high ceilings and big windows. I know I'm supposed to have had a burger and fries or something, but I wound up with whatever the chorizo hash brunch bowl was, and I'm not sorry. It was super flavorful, the eggs were just the right amount of done, and it was ready really quickly for pickup. Got a Caviar delivery from Split yesterday. Half was marred by bad arugula. But I do give them 2.5 stars (rounding up to 3) for a tasty banana nut muffin which was a tiny bit stale but had good flavor, really good toast with jam & butter, and for their excellent hot pink food container labelling stickers, smart data design with 1 of 4, 2 of 4, etc., printed on them to let the staff know when an order is all complete (important in delivery world!). Sorry to say but putting together an order with rotten produce will drag down my vote :/ The straight dope: Banana Nut Muffin: Tasty but a bit stale. Still, lots of nuts and who doesn't like muffins? Fried Egg Sandwich (Two pasture eggs, aged cheddar, and arugula on a griddled bun): Would have been awesome but arugula had seen better days a while ago and had become slimy. Maybe it got grilled too? Fresh in Caviar's website photo, so not sure. Still, it retained a decent flavor but I would have preferred the arugula been left off if it's going bad. Soft Scramble with 3 self-selected ingredients (Roasted Red Pepper, Kale & Goat Cheese): Scramble itself was quite good, though the kale could have been less "stemmy" as they were super chewy and the side salad was BAD, really bad. I could smell the greens were rotten before I opened the box. No bueno! Pullman Toast with Jam and Butter: I ate this after it was room-temp, but it ROCKED. Toast is usually just a meh side to me, but this was seriously good. Guessing it came with the Soft Scramble, but was boxed separately? Buttermilk Pancake Stack (4 pancakes served with Vermont maple syrup and butter): Decent, cinnamon added to batter. They didn't blow me away but they were okay. Based on this delivery, I would hesitate to order from Split on Polk Street again. Sorry, guys! read more

At best I will give this place a three stars. Good service and great atmosphere. But for the food....I think it's not for me. I rather go to The new spot on Polk. This place salad is mediocre and the dressing does not go with it. I ordered the Cobb salad and husband got some other salad. I also got the chicken parm sandwich. It's not bad actually but that's it. With not great parking(not their fault) and very pricey meal. Salad could of been better. I don't think it's worth it. It's clean and very inviting. We went to the area with the hope of grabbing salad at another cafe but the plan fell through. After walking around the area, ended up with giving a try to Split. The y offered enough options for sandwiches, salads and sides. There were 4 burger options. We ended up with getting the Beetbowl salad with crispy chicken and a side of Split fries to share since we were not too hungry. Ingredients for the salad were decently fresh with generous amount of alvacado. Crispy chicken could be crispier but it was okay. Wish the portion of the fries were generous as the amount of alvacado in the salad. They certainly gave more than enough dipping sauce for the amount of fries we got. Overall it was decent experience at a chain restaurant. Definitely would recommend for a quick bite. read more

The portion was good- not overly exaggerated like all other breakfast places. Reasonable for one person. Yes it is a bit pricey but similar to San Francisco prices. Cute place, right on Polk. Walk right up and order on your own and choose an open table. Went on a Wednesday around 6:30, probably the perfect time as there were quite a few open tables and our food came out pretty quickly. I ordered the veggie burger with no bun, rather a lettuce wrap. My friend ordered a salad with an aide of sweet potato fries. Plates were delivered to the table via the order number. The salad was ordered with dressing tossed in yet arrived with no dressing on it or on the side. As I got up to ask the kitchen to confirm there wasn't any dressing on the salad, the fellow manning the deliver station was quite confused- he took the plate from me and I assumed it was to simply toss in the dressing and replays the salad, instead he returned to he table with the same salad sans-dressing and a little side of dressing. Not the end of the world to forget the dressing but could have much better been remedied if they had just tossed it in. My burger was good, not great, the lettuce wrap job was a bit tragic, was more of a piece of lettuce on top and bottom rather than a wrap all the way around as was needed with a veggie patty that isn't as solid as a meat patty. All in all I would go again, if I wanted simple good food for a quick meal. Want to try the breakfast as well! read more

I've been here twice in the last week and love it. Prices are a little steep for portions but what can you do it's SF and I'm sure the rent is high in this location. It's the former location of La Boulange and it's light, bright and spacious. Really welcoming space. First time I got the chicken apple sandwich to go and it was so good. Flavors are really good together. My second time was after spin class for breakfast. Had the avocado toast and a latte. Lots of yummy avocado on a perfectly toasted bread. Coffee from 4 barrel. The food is good. They have Beer on tap and a good wine selection. Def worth trying!! read more
