We decided to venture out on a slow Sunday to enjoy some refreshing ice cream and seen this place was near us. I think usually ice cream is hard to mess up but this place did it. We ordered the jackrabbit (suppose to be cookies and cream ice cream, double Oreo in waffle cone), we also ordered one that said "strawberry cheese cake". All the flavor was highly artificial, didn't look like the photo or even come with the menu had listed. The jackrabbit was suppose to come with Oreo and to my surprise there was some milk chocolate type cookie power. It was all terrible. Tonight my family and I decided to go out for ice cream so we went to our local shop called "Mix it Up Creamery" here in Forney, TX. As we pulled up we noticed the lights were off but saw two people working inside which was weird since they weren't supposed to close until 10pm. (Got there around 9pm) I sent my daughter up to the door to see if they were actually closed. The young man working in there came to the door and told her" SORRY we are closed!" and she walked back to our car. Before she could get back in the car, another car pulled up and a woman and 3 little boys jumped out and ran towards the door. We started to drive off and my husband stopped and looked in his rear view mirror to see if they were let in and guess what???? YES he let them in. We turned around and went in to confront the man about it!!! Yes! I had to! Witnessing your children go through discrimination is not something any parent looks forward to. Ice cream is ice cream, so there's only so much to say--but presentation-wise, this place does a solid job. The scoops looked great, and the prices were about what you'd expect for an ice cream shop of this type. Our Ice Cream came out relatively quick and the service was good as well If I had one complaint, The chairs Were just a little dirty; several of them were sticky and in need of a good wipe-down. Usable? Sure. But definitely not ideal when you're trying to enjoy a sweet treat. As for the ice cream itself, my family and I shared a banana split But it was more of a Sunday than it was a banana split. It was good--not the best I've ever had, but enjoyable enough BUT definitely not a banana split . The ice cream was incredibly mediocre, especially considering the price. I visited once in the afternoon and the store appeared clean, and the staff member working then--a girl with brown hair--was amazing: attentive, sweet, and very welcoming. Unfortunately, my experience at night was completely different. The store was absolutely disgusting, and there were two different employees (one girl and one boy) who had several friends hanging around. They seemed far more focused on their friends than on the actual customers, which made the experience disappointing since I have heard very great reviews. read more

I probably won't visit often, but it's a good option if you're in the area. The portion size is good, but I wasn't a fan of the ice cream. I chose vanilla bean, but the taste was pretty one note (regular vanilla). I did like that it was creamy, similar to gelato. I was in the mood for ice cream so I decided to give this spot a try. Upon entry we were greeted immediately by an associate behind the register. Because I am an indecisive person I needed to try a few ice cream flavors before making my selection. The associate was very patient and offered great recommendations. I opted for the cookie dough ice cream with brownies, cheesecake and Heath bar as my add on and marshmallow sauce as my drizzle. The place looks clean but the floor is so sticky I almost lost my shoe. There is obviously no work dress code, the girl helping me was wearing a Forney athletics t-shirt and tiny spandex shorts that you play volleyball in. Then the ice cream was flaky like it had partially melted and refroze. I watched the girls working there attempt to scoop the peanut butter cups out of a container but they were so clumped together some of it popped out and hit her in the face. As ice cream places go, this one is pretty good. They use Tillamook ice cream. They have several options for toppings and a few different flavors. Service was good and quick. They have free wifi but don't post the password anywhere. They also have phone chargers. An added convenience if you plan on hanging out for a while. Interesting decor and dry erase boards for the kids. It was pretty busy when we got there but the turnaround was pretty fast. A few more tables would be helpful. Overall a good place for a cold treat on a hot day. read more

The service was a little slow, I think do to it being new. There was a long line , and the employees were super sweet explaining everything to each person with questions. The ice cream and toppings were delicious! I love the variety. Due to it being busy, none of the tables were clean, but the employees were doing all they could to keep up with the line.
