Referred to Mitch's from our hotel. Recommended for my girlfriends birthday and unique dinner. Well... I'm a bit speechless on how to describe this eatery. I'd say very underwhelming for the extreme pricing. The good: - the wine list was substantial... maybe 20 pages. It was funny. I personally like desert wines, so that's what I was looking for and none were listed. Ended up getting these mango mules. Then when dinner finished we get the desert menu and there are the desert wines. My loss. - ordered the Shrimp Louie salad. That was good, nice presentation. - crispy rice appetizer was unique, but I enjoyed it. Small crispy rice wafer style with some tuna on top. The mediocre: - two sushi rolls... were fine, nothing special. - flourless chocolate cake... fine nothing special. -overall experience... just wasn't warm & inviting. Waitress was professional, but not warm. Helper who brought out dishes was just 'mumble-mumble'. - owner stopped to chat, which was a nice touch, but just felt a bit awkward. I appreciated being thanked for choosing the restaurant, but it just didn't feel inviting.

Crème brûlée with fresh fruit on top

Came here for dinner with friends and we sat outside on the patio. They have outdoor seating and indoor seating. The upstairs was reserved for a party. Service was amazing and the food was really good. We all got different dishes, the lamb dish is supposed to be really good, but we all got salmon, steak, Seabass, and I got a steak with mashed potatoes and asparagus, drizzled with a mushroom gravy that was absolutely delicious. My partner got the surf and turf, and the lobster was cooked to perfection. Our server Mallory was very friendly and attentive. For dessert, we got crème brûlée, bread, pudding, and chocolate balloon cake! The presentation for the chocolate balloon cake was beautiful. The crème brûlée you can tell is very fresh, and the bread pudding was very flavorful. It was a Friday night, so the place was packed, but that didn't stop the servers from being absolutely wonderful. We will definitely be coming back here.

I'm not usually a reoccurring customer to restaurants, but I've been here more than I've made myself dinner in the past year because I enjoy this establishment so much. Mitch & his wife are the most hospitable, courteous, thoughtful restaurant owners and human beings. Their food is delicious, their staff are happy, upbeat, & delightful (seriously, even their busboys are amazing!) and I never have anything to complain about (and I excel at complaining)! Thank you for making my birthday memorable, peaceful, and delicious! And Jose, the waiter, is an excellent and funny dude! Five stars!

HORRIBLE! AWFUL! WASTE of time & money. Food, experience & especially service was poor. When I arrived with my friend, we asked if we could be seated before the other members of our party arrived. The young girl seated us at a table that was directly across from the back door of the kitchen, which was very busy & loud since it was a fashion show day. When I got up to ask the hostess( owner's wife?) if we could just move over one table, she turned around and screamed at me that all the table reservations were set and we wouldn't even be able to hear anything anyways once the fashion show started.????? I was completely stunned. I've never had anybody talk to me in such a rude, hostile way, especially when I was just making a kind request. NOTE: it is apparent that she needs some anger management classes. I just walked away and asked my friend to handle it. If I wasn't supposed to meet friends, I would've walked out. The next part of the experience was even worse when the bill came, the server Jose G. charged two 20% gratuity amounts An additional 20% outside of the typical 20% when there's a table of six ....so he needed to earn an additional $40 just for ringing separate checks????? all of our orders were straightforward. There was nothing special about it . I asked my friend if this was typical because of the fashion show ? I didn't want to make a scene so I didn't say anything else. The really outrageous part was I showed him that I was gonna give him cash for his tip ( which was over 20%) and just to put the remaining balance on my card. He thanked me and then charged me for the full amount. So my charge was $21 for the salmon salad, which was thin tasteless & awful plus an Arnold Palmer and then 20% tip and an additional 20% tip plus he pocketed the cash that I gave him so I paid almost $50 ??? meaning the gratuity was almost half of the check? it was not worth it. I could've made better salmon on my own at home. Well Jose that was very disrespectful and lacks a lot on your part, considering I was trying to do you a favor to give you cash as a server. This whole place is just awful. Don't even waste your time. I will be sure to tell everyone in my community and that I come in contact with how awful this place is and suggest other places I will never go here again. and please note the copy of my receipt showing the exact charge.

Mitch's is a great seafood and steak restaurant with a massive outdoor patio. Today, we were inside. It was elegant and warm. The waiter service was fantastic and friendly. We loved their masterful cocktails, especially the espresso martini. The sushi and oysters were great appetizers. Their chocolate dessert that melts off was a fun dessert to watch and eat.

Thanks to Mitch's offering an early dinner service, we were able to catch the entire hockey game!

We were looking for the perfect place to eat, that was open early enough so that we could still catch the hockey game down at the arena! I was pleasantly surprised that Mitch's was already serving dinner at 4:30 ! I wish that I could explain to you this sushi I got, and dang it I don't remember the name of it. But just remember, it's a sushi roll dish that is not listed on their little sushi form, it's actually on the menu. It had just the right amount of spicy tuna with perfect flavor that avocado and crunch that you want mixed with another flavor that I haven't tasted before that I could see becoming very addicted and I will probably have to go to rehab to get off of this sushi, it was that good Unbelievably delicious. Combine that with the blood orange margarita, and it was the perfect crafted cocktail. Everything was proportioned and mixed perfectly.! I just told one of my best friends that I will be taking him back there and it's gonna be one of my new favorites. I never get out of Palm Springs downtown or Cathedral city so now I got a little Palm Desert spot to eat dinner at.! I think we were greeted either by the manager or the owner but he was delightful. Also, it's one of the few places that has valet parking., which is what I miss the most about living in LA. Very good size portions, especially for the money and my friends fillet and beautifully designed creamy mashed potatoes were fabulous. We also got some kind of jalapeño appetizer that's to die for.. the flavor kinda develops in your mouth as you're eating it and then finishes it off with a little pop of spiciness that's just perfect! They had the most beautiful courtyard outdoor area, and the weather was just perfect last night , but also the inside is meticulously and beautifully decorated with a very unique vibe that mixes kind of like classiness with a lounge, kinda five star restaurant. I didn't plan on leaving a review so I wasn't thinking about remembering names, but our waitress a pretty blonde lady was so sweet and so helpful. Even when it got very busy, the service staff was extremely attentive constantly making sure you had a refill, your water was filled, asking did I want more wasabi, etc. We got there at 4:30, but by about 530 the whole patio was full, and it had a hyper vibe of everyone laughing and talking, but you were able to visit with your dining partner without any problems! Definitely and for sure my new favorite! Did I mention the blood orange margaritas? Lmao! There was a good mix of your typical wealthy looking PALM Desert crowd if you know what I mean, but also a lot of attractive younger crowd, mixed in with every other type of person in between ! Although somewhere dressed up , I felt very comfortable in my little designer tea, black shorts and my New Adidas kicks. Lol! Yummy Yummy Yummy , I will be back for more soon. I woke up this morning already craving it, that's what I know I really enjoyed a meal!

My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary at Mitch's. The restaurant is beautiful... offering both indoor and outdoor dining we opted for the beautiful outdoor patio with its heating lamps and fire pits all ablaze! Our server was Caleb, he was an absolute joy. He was very knowledgeable on both the drink and dining menu. Our meal arrived and it was absolute perfection! The various rounds of martinis were also spectacular! The evening ended with a beautiful molten lava cake, which was absolutely delicious. We look forward to returning back to Mitch's soon!

We tried to make reservations online after so many people recommended this place but 4 people in your party is required for online reservations. Despite that, we walked right in to a beautiful table on the twinkling patio. Service was excellent from our first step in the door through our walk back out to our car. There is free valet parking but we drove by an open spot on the street and just parked there. We started our meal with a crunchy shrimp roll. Fresh ingredients and beautifully presented. Great start. Given the seafood focus, I had shrimp and scallops and husband had the sea bass. Both meals came with delicious sides. Lots of colors, flavors, and textures. The fish was cooked perfectly. Good choices. Our waiter (I believe it was Biff?) was excellent. He told me about half price bottles of wine so I was able to get a glass with dinner and cork the rest for later for a similar price. We finished with a crème brûlée which was light and a great finish to a perfect meal.

Honeymoon oysters with added sea urchin

Still fabulous! On a return trip to Palm Desert, we of course had to go back to Mitch's and it did not disappoint. Frankly, it far outpaced the less-than-stellar experience at Nobu the night before. The menu has many wonderful items, but we stuck with appetizers and sushi and had a delicious meal again. The wine list was great, sushi was incredibly fresh and tasty, and the honeymoon oysters (with added uni) were well worth the price. There is nothing like arriving at a restaurant to be greeted by the happy, convivial owner. What a welcoming experience! And what a pleasure to watch Mitch greet each guest as if they were family. The staff seems very happy and were all professional, friendly, and fun. We will always go to Mitch's whenever we return to Palm Desert, which I hope is many more times.

Lamb. Unbelievable!
Dave H.

So our first dining experience in Palm Desert was at Mitch's restaurant. The restaurant has seating inside and outside and the outside is lovely. For this evening's dinner, we tried the lamb, the sea bass and the duck. Our server, Able, was very good at describing each of the different entrée meals and was very attentive to our table. All I can say is the dinner here was out of this world. Not only was the food amazing, but the experience, the service, and attention to detail by the owners was amazing! I would highly recommend if you're ever out in the Palm Springs area, I believe you would be very happy and very satisfied with this dining experience. I give it five stars.

Best restaurant, best food & amazing staff & owners ! Came here as a recommendation from a friend & my entire family would not stop talking about how delicious and flavorful the food was ! The staff went above and beyond & the ambience with live music was the perfect touch !! The restaurant is a decent size so you don't feel stuffy ! The owners kept coming by and making sure everything was too perfection and it was ! We will most definitely be back ! We never wanted to leave :)

Located in a shopping plaza. Got the Tori Katsu chicken cutlet set and a spicy tuna roll…read more The chicken katsu was done right. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and not greasy. It came together perfectly with the sides and felt like a complete, comforting meal. Everything on the plate tasted fresh and well prepared. The spicy tuna roll was a nice addition. Clean flavors with just enough spice, and it balanced out the richness of the katsu. The restaurant has a calm, casual feel and it's easy to sit and enjoy your food. Staff was friendly and attentive, and service was smooth. Definitely a spot I'd come back to when I'm in the mood for a solid Japanese meal.

I ended up giving one to my 3- and 5-year-old kids, thinking it was the mild one. After a few bites, they started complaining that their mouths were burning. I tasted it myself and realized they had been given the spicy ramen--the one that was supposed to be for my husband. Then we waited even longer for the other order, only to receive a shrimp and noodle dish that we never ordered. At that point, we were already starving and had waited so long that I just decided to eat it and share it with the kids rather than wait even longer. The food itself was nothing special. The shrimp was fried, but the noodles tasted like regular packaged ramen, and the broth was bland. I couldn't really taste much of anything, and for the price, I expected a lot more. We spent about $90 for two soups, one sushi roll, and a drink. For that price, the food and service should have been much better. Between the order mix-up, not being told which ramen was spicy, the long wait, and the mediocre food, this place definitely did not live up to the hype.

It was really beautiful going around the lake and seeing the resort lit up. We had really great service! The chef was hilarious and put on a good show! He had funny jokes that I haven't heard from the other teppanyaki places. He did a really good job cooking too. Got the Mikado special which comes with filet, shrimp and lobster. Got it with a side of garlic butter to dip the meats in. That's a must, IYKYK. Dynamite shrimp would be a pass next time. I liked the gyoza and coconut shrimp. The place was almost empty and they squished us in with another family, which made it somewhat uncomfortable. Our waitress was also extremely rude. She immediately asked to take our orders- before we even had time to sit down. She spoke too fast and seemed stressed or angry, or like she was rushing us out. I didn't appreciate feeling like I was taking up space- she made us feel unwelcome. Despite this, we took our time and ordered drinks, which were nice and strong (albeit overpriced) The menu is also expensive, and although we ordered nothing out of the ordinary, our bill was over $300.00. The food tasted fine. No complaints there. We enjoyed watching our chef cook in front of us and the overall experience was a memorable one. Nevertheless the kids had a fun evening, and I made the best of it, but I will not be returning. At that price point there are many better food options in the Palm Desert area.
