If you like poor boy sandwiches, Mitchell s sells poor boy steaks $10.99 a pound and Milo s Bread . They have a great meat selection. My tip, I get the pork poor boys for extra flavor. read more

Great spot. The meat selection was terrific and the prices were very fair. It's also a small market so has most of the basics you may need to grab too. Friendly service! read more

Recently moved into town, was really excited to try Mitchell's, as my husband's grandparents shopped here too. Boy it did not disappoint! Feels like you're walking back in time to when life was simple and the food was better! I REFUSE to buy meat anywhere else. read more

After eating grocery chain meat for a while, I was craving the umami flavor we once knew. I am the daughter of a retired meat cutter. I know quality meat. Mitchell's brought back good memories as soon as I stepped up to the meat case. There are not to many choices. But there are good choices. I decided on both pork and steak poorboy cuts. I also chose Italian sausage and ground chuck. We grilled up the sausage today and it was delicious! It went well with the Milano buns they had ( which were about the freshest we've had ). The butchers were very friendly and the customers seemed like regulars. The prices were pretty decent ( unlike Tischlers ) So we will definitely be back! read more

Mitchell's Food Mart - Butcher Near Me - Joliet, Illinois

Went here recently. Place was mobbed, due to the call, of shortages of beef. Long lines in the store. Everyone wore masks. When my number was called there was a moratorium on beef: Ground Chuck, 5 lb max. My butcher was very friendly and went to the cooler and sliced me up 5 fresh lbs. Had some last night( made burgers, they were excellent!) packaged nicely. I also got some chicken breast, no skin. Couple lbs of pork steaks, and some bigass sirloins. All cut by my friendly butcher. Prices are high but, its worth it. Cheaper than Tischlers and service was better! Granted their case is smaller than other butchers, but service is great, and its a full grocery store as well. At least my freezer is stocked for awhile. Worth a look. read more

This small neighborhood store is a gem. Great, friendly butchers with prime meats and good prices!!!

The meat counter is high quality, a little bit pricey but it's worth it! And the employees are friendly, they make you feel like family.

The gem in our neighborhood. Best meat in town. Butchers are super helpful and friendly. Highly recommend!

I love this place! The best meat around! Naperville has no good meat markets. We go a bit farther for good quality, and Mitchell's has the best! read more

Best butcher shop and small grocery store around! The ground chuck, bacon, hot Italian sausage links, pork chops, mock chicken legs, deli meat, cheese -- too many favorites. The butchers are super attentive and friendly. They will package your meat exactly as you'd like -- 10 lbs of ground chuck divided 1 lb each or whatever you choose. The grocery shelves always seem to have exactly what I need, which saves me a trip to a large grocery chain. And they still use price tags, like a time gone by. read more

Its great to see a small old-fashioned grocery stand on its own among the sea of superstores out there overwhelming our neighborhoods. Sure seems like nothing here has changed a bit from when I started patronizing this establishment some 15 years ago. I believe they're more well known for their meat and deli section. Such high quality at a great price (their hot Italian sausages are my favorite). Next time you're in the area and get a hankering for some groceries, skip the chains and give this place a visit. read more

Mitchell's Food Mart - taco shells. - Butcher Near Me - Joliet, Illinois

A nice mom & pop store still surviving the sad days of modernism. While it has a butcher, i shop here occasionally just for their sales. I am a vegetarian, so i cannot comment on the butcher shop products. I try to ignore it while i purchase bread, cereal, fruit, etc... I appreciate this nostalgic store surviving the good ol' days and remaining a hidden gem. Staff is friendly and it is nice to be somewhere other than chain stores. It reminds me of a little store in the small town where i grew up. read more

A hidden gem! From two towns over and was looking for a new meat market. Read the reviews on here and decided to try it. Great knowledgeable butcher with a great selection. Just tried the Wisconsin brats for lunch, very tasty! Looking forward to the others meats we picked up. Prices are very competitive with the big box store. Love going to mom and pop places. Worth the drive if you live a few towns over. read more

They are friendly and helpful and price is not bad the meat is fresh than grocery stores

A classic, superb "Mom & Pop's" grocery store. The kind of small business that we all need to support. The meat counter is superb, with great product and butchering. Their ground beef is so far better than the local megamart crap. Yeah, you will spend a couple dollars more for the items off the shelf, but you'll feel better making purchases from a small business that has nice people in it. read more

This small neighborhood grocery has the BEST fresh meat you will ever buy!

Mom and pop very tiny, old fashioned grocer. Very friendly staff. What people come for is the meat counter. The best fresh cut meat around.

My family used to own a grocery store that was built around customer service and our meat dept. Their meat dept. is outstanding. The best place to get meat. Tony's on rte. 59 in Plainfield is the only other place that I get ribs and steaks. I will always go to here first though. read more

Meat. Meat. Meat. Chicken. Chicken. Chicken. No hidden fat like from chains. Everything perfectly and honestly trimmed. Ground chuck. No gristle. And tasty. read more

We are pleased to have found this little gem. We usually do a lot of our shopping at a big name grocer but I am looking for that small and local relationship not too far from home so this fit the bill. When we first pulled into the parking lot I was a little skeptical, since we are not familiar with the neighbor hood and live in a cookie cutter subdivision just west of Mitchell's. We walked in and checked out the meat department and I was instantly sold. We placed an order for some rib tips that were not available and ordered some meat and cheeses. When the day came to pick our order up, I was able to call and confirm that the order was there and all this was done with professionalism, and you can tell their customers happiness is important to them. We will be back and excited to get to know those behind the meat counter at Mitchell's. read more

When I moved from New Lenox I was in need of a new meat market. My husband's family had been using Mitchell's for years. This is now the only place I go. Their cuts of meat are fantastic. The employees are so helpful and kind. It's important to keep these small business owners in business. I suggest you give them a try. read more

I love this little shop! When I was getting in the best shape of my life I came here for quality meats! Their flank steak I believe you might have to call ahead but their meats and burgers are divine! Best place to get meat in Joliet by far. Shop local! read more

Love love LOVE Mitchell's! Best meat around! Such a higher quality than the chain grocery stores, and competitive pricing. Ask for their Italian Beef with Au Jus... soooo good!!!! We heard another customer ask for it, not realizing they even offered that, and I'm so glad we did. It's delicious!! I love to support small businesses such as this, who care so much about what they do! read more

A blast from the past neighborhood grocery store. They have the staples and the best part is the Meat Counter!! The best meat you'll find around. The potato sausage is incredible. They even take the membrane off of the ribs when you order them, Jewel's butchers wont. Well worth the effort to find this gem in the off beaten path. read more

Great local mom and pops store with a strong butcher selection as well. The butchers are nice as can be and will take as much time as you need. The only thing I wish that had was a 80/20 ground beef as they usually only have very lean beef and that's not the best for making burgers. But overall, great selection of meat and your everyday essentials. They also carry a great amount of products from the Milano factory in Joliet. This is the one place I can always rely on to find that as well! read more

They have the best meat in town! I love their steak, especially the filets! The staff membrers are nicr and friendly. Its a great small business! I would rather support a small business! read more

My brother and I used to come here when we were kids while my mom visited the doctor up the street. Hasn't really changed a bit, except the penny candy isn't quite a penny anymore. The meat is beyond great, especially the sweet sausage. No better place in the area to get meat and deli period! Chad S.--Plainfield read more

I try and go here as much as possible! They have great spareribs during the summer, for a very reasonable price!

This place is as good as it gets. The butchers go out of their way to make sure you get exactlly what you want. They are very friendly and ougoing. The store has all those last minute items you may have forgotten to get earlier. The meat is fresh and well displayed so you can see what you are buying. read more

By far the best meat market around. Their product puts the crap you get at the local groceries ( Jewel, Food 4 Less, and Ultra) to shame, including the uppiddy yuppy Tony's and Mariano's. Mitchell's baby back ribs are unbeatable and the ribeye steaks are the best. Their prices are very reasonable especially lnowing that you get what you pay for. There is a reason they have been around since the 1950's and their product and service proves it! Thanks to the people at Mitchell's. read more

The best meat around. Awesome hot sausage! The store reminds you of the stores your grandparents took you to when you were small. Nice and clean and friendly, not these big box chain stores. read more
