    Chilean Sea Bass
    Joe W.

First thing's first, the server was tremendous and I feel terrible I can't recall her name. Funny, upbeat, good recommendations, and attentive. Next, the food was great. I was on a tear with Chilean sea bass orders, this being the third Chilean sea bass for dinner in a row that week, and I can confidently say it was the best. Our group was seated promptly and but for the table seating where the person behind me was on top of me, requiring us to play chair Jenga to get out of our seats, this was a great and enjoyable meal. Will return if ever back in the area.

(Last visited 12/21/2022.) Hanging out in Michigan on business and I've always heard great things about Mitchell's Seafood House, so today's the day I take Mom and Dad there to check it out! Here's how it went. Atmosphere/Appearance: Having a private parking lot is a huge plus because it takes away the stresses of having to find someplace to park, then paying for it and having to walk further than necessary to get to the restaurant. Once inside you're transported to what feels like the northeast, but like a modernistic version of it. The outside is a standalone brick building, but inside boasts dark tiles, chic nautical themes and lights walls/ceilings that give the space a more open appeal. It wasn't very loud in here at all either. Service: Raj took care of us and they were excellent. There was nothing that we had to ask for. Food: So known for their seafood, I stuck to that exclusively. I started off with the Maine Lobster Bisque. It was deliciously smooth, flavorful and creamy, but was missing chunks of lobster which I have seen in almost every other lobster bisque that I've had. No big deal. For my entree I went with the Dynamic Duo which consists of a stuffed lobster tail, grilled BBQ shrimp, asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes. The presentation wasn't the best, but the food was pretty good. I loved the fact that they bring a device to the table that allows the butter for the lobster to be set on top of a small flame to keep it from congealing. I had never seen anything like that before! The food was delicious! Shrimp felt a little overcooked though. Value: At the time my soup was $10.90 and my entree was $42.00. Now, the soup is $11.50 and the Dynamic Duo is no longer offered according to their online menu. Naturally, this is a seafood restaurant and it's going to be expensive. Bring the wallet for sure. Lol. In conclusion, I liked this place and can understand the hype for sure. Would I come back? Sure! It wouldn't be my choice, but I'd have no problem joining someone else if they wanted to check it out. Thank you for reading.

I've heard nothing but good things about this place. Unfortunately, the first impression was not a good one. After speaking with the manager, she rectified the situation right away. I was pleased with the menu options. I started off with a peach tea lemonade. It was served with fresh mint, which I enjoyed. I ordered the Shanghai seafood sampler. It had shrimp, scallops, and salmon with spinach in ponzu. The sauce made the dish more flavorful. I substituted the sticky rice for mashed potatoes. Although, I feel like I really should have ate it with the rice. I also had the lobster bisque. No complaints. Our waiter was Alex. He was really attentive, friendly, and helpful. I wouldn't mind going back here and giving some other dishes a try.

Come here for the happy hour and this review is just for that. Came here at 5:30pm on a Friday night, no issue getting a table. We ordered the following items from the happy hour menu: - Spinach & artichoke dip - crispy calamari - Korean BBQ Wings (5 wings came in an order), ended up ordering this 3x - crispy fish sandwich with fries (fries $2 extra) - blackened fish street taco - Spicy Crispy Shrimp - double cheeseburger with fries (fries $2 extra) - 1/2 dozen oysters The bar area was busy, the formal dining area wasn't as busy, but lot of folks were there as well, but yeah, stay in the bar area and enjoy different food options at a very reasonable price. We got the six oysters and crab cakes off the main menu, but outside of that, we ordered off the happy hour menu. Definitely give the double cheeseburger a try, it was our favorite, then the wings, as we ended up ordering that 3x. Each order of the wings come with 5 pieces of wings, but they are pretty big wings. We were happy with the food, the service was bit slow as the waiter was busy with multiple tables, but the food runner made sure we got our food.

The restaurant is close to my hotel so i decided to go there for happy hour. Their happy hour items looked pretty good, reasonably priced. I got a seat at the bar. Nobody greeted me for a while. When i finally got a bartender's attention, she gave me a glass of water and a menu. I knew what I wanted so I was ready to order but she told me to hold on. She never came back to take my order. Another bartender came and greeted ppl who came after me. Again, nobody took my order. After the second bartender came back to deliver the drinks to ppl next to me, she finally took my drink and food order. I got a moscato white sangria and a spinach and artichoke dip. They were ok. As I was still munching on my chips, the first bartender came and almost took my plate away when I was still eating. My first experience wasn't great overall.

Staff was friendly. It was very busy and the service at first was slow but then as it cleared it the service was decent. The restaurant was full even the bar area. The food tasted okay. I have to say the calamari was great especially the trio of sauces the wasabi aioli and kimchi sauces were great. The king psi was okay it was sweet but none of the sauces were spicy at all. We also ordered the fish and chips and I had the Chilean sea bass grilled and blackened. It didn't come with any type of sauce. It wasn't cooked throughly the first time I got it. It was okay when I did get it. The server was very polite and understanding about the Sea Bass being undercooked. The mashed potatoes and veggies were just green beans and shredded carrots. They were cooked well but were bland in taste. The fish and chips were very good came with a tartar sauce and also hush puppies which were also good. I recommend order an entree other than the fish of the day.

    Seafood Americana

I have been to Mitchell's Seafood House quite a few times now and have forgotten to do a review. This trip, I had the "Seafood Americana" which I had been debating for many visits now. It was PHENOMENAL and I wished I had gotten it sooner! I thought it was going to be like a Cioppino which is what I didn't want. This had tons of scallops, shrimp, potatoes, spinach, and that cream sauce. Wonderful and not too thick. I will definitely be having this again on my next business trip through town. Well done.

We had a lovely dinner there tonight. We got there at 4:00 p.m. So it wasn't busy yet but by the time we left at 6:30 it was pretty packed. Our waitress was very nice and friendly and told us the specials and she had opinions on the best dishes and cocktails which was great. Her service was top notch. The food was also very good. I had twin lobster tails, and my cousin had the seafood boil. Both of these items were on their Memorial day special menu. I wish these were both on the menu permanently because I'd definitely get it again. The lobster tail was very good and so was the seafood boil. Lots of food on the seafood boil. My cousin ended up taking leftovers home. We started with the calamari and it was pretty good. It was a tad bland on first bite and it needed just a tad of salt but that was no problem because I just used the salt on the table. I am not one that normally adds salt to my food, but it needed it. I had the house salad which was very yummy and my cousin had the clam chowder which she thought was delicious. When our meals arrived we were very impressed with them. The flavors were great and the portions were good. The cocktails weren't the strongest but they were pretty good flavorwise. I had a house martini and I think it was a lot of juice in there so the waitress did have them remake it and it came back much better. So just a heads up on that, the cocktails are creative and pretty, but they're also on the sweeter side and not strong. I like that they brought lemon in a hot towel at the end of the meal. I don't know if they do that for every meal but they did with these specials. It's a cute place, it's spacious and I think it could be good for smaller groups. The location is also pretty accessible right off the freeway so it's easy to get to. I'll definitely be back to try other things.

Good place for a nice night out for dinner. They have this meal dew for 39$ that had great choices. I ordered the deal with lobster bisque soup, steak tenderloin bites and vanilla crème brûlée. Steak has a nice seasoning to it, but was a small portion I feel. Maybe a bigger piece would have been better in my opinion. The soup was delicious! It has lobster pieces that you could see and taste unlike other places. I'm not a fan of vanilla, but the dessert was really good too. As far as alcohol, I'm not a drinker. However, the did have these wonderful mocktails! This makes me feel important because a lot of places don't have this. They just mix juice and charge you 12$. This was an actual mocktail experience with alcohol free vodka! The Caramel Apple martini was so good, it was the best mocktail I've ever had. 10/10! Our waiter was friendly. He didn't check in on us much, but that's was ok because my guest and I were in deep conversation. I feel the waiter really was respecting that. Overall I really enjoyed this place and will return for the mocktails.

We both had a bourbon cream hot cocoa. It was barely like warm. Marshmallows were toasted nicely on my drink and pretty burnt on the other (I wouldn't have minded burnt marshmallows). The food was just meh... the Yuletide Boursin dip with garlic Parmesan puffs was ok. The "puffs" were fairly heavy and dense. There was far more marinara sauce than anything else. The pesto on top of the marinara sauce was delicious. I would recommend skipping the Maple Bourbon Chicken and Waffles. The waffle was so dry. The applewood bacon was the best part of the dish. The chicken was a bit overcooked, so it was also dry. The good gravy skillet was "peppery" according to my friend - which is literally in the description. She felt it was too peppery. The "over easy" egg was way over cooked! It was over-hard at best. The kicker was when our server asked us if we wanted more water and poured less than a half glass each of water - which was about 3 sips. (And yes, the water pitcher was full, she could have easily filled our glasses). I will add - the hostess was a delight! She greeted us as soon as we walked in, sat us promptly, and told us to enjoy our meals.

Once playful and creative masterpieces that added to 1Up's charm, they've been replaced with pretentious, unimaginative concoctions that scream, "We're fancy now; please empty your wallet." No fun, no spirit (pun intended), just overpriced disappointments. At their current price point, I half expected the drink to come with complimentary resentment from the staff. And don't get me started on the arcade machines. Gone are the iconic retro classics that made me feel like I'd stepped back into the golden age of arcades. Instead, the place is now stuffed with bright, flashy, wallet-draining horrors you'd find at a Dave and Buster's. What happened to the charm? The authenticity? Now it's just a playground for toddlers with no attention spans and those who value flashing lights over actual gameplay. Speaking of, if you're a Gen Z-er armed with your parents' credit card and an inability to go three seconds without dopamine overload, this place might actually be a dream come true for you. The rest of us? Not so much. Look, 1Up Arcade Bar used to be a gem, but now it feels like a soulless cash grab. Don't come here hoping for a genuine arcade bar experience because you'll leave disappointed--and poorer. Save your time, save your money, and spare yourself the heartbreak of seeing what this place has become. RIP, old 1Up. You are sorely missed.
