Sit in a booth in the main room. You'll think you're on Disney's haunted mansion ride. Most of the food is good even if a little pricey for the area. Most of the staff are excellent. Occasionally you may get an old timer that moves a little slower. This is your best bet in this part of town for a good sit down meal. Parking lot can be a little tight if you have a large vehicle. Better then to try street parking. read more

One of the best places to get a steak in Lincoln. Been going to Misty's for about 16 years now and every time is always a treat. The French Onion soup is AMAZING and I had the Prime Rib cooked medium and it couldn't have been better. Nice atmosphere gives a very intimate feel which is missing from many newer restaurants in town. First night in Lincoln and we found the original Misty's in the historical downtown area just off Cornhusker Hwy, it's been there since 1964! We started with Blackened Prime Rib, this is first time for me having this much meat as appetizer, it was blacken with salt and pepper on the outside, nice and pink inside, cut into small cubes, that could have been my dinner if I didn't have to share it with two other hungry guys. My rib eye came with a potato and I ordered mushroom on it, 11 ounces of medium rare meat, a slab of juicy heaven, and all the fixing on the spud, not need to say more. I cleaned my plate and wished I had room for some desert, but I was too stuffed. it was a great start on the week. read more

Service was great, ambiance was classy. The sampler appetizer was amazing and probably the best calamari I've ever had. The seafood bisque was also amazing and all left me with high expectations for the entire. Unfortunately I was left unimpressed. I ordered the salmon which claimed to be a signature dish. It came on a plate that took me back to public school lunches. The fish was cooked well, but the slice of cheese laid across the top was stringy and really just a ball drop on their part. I ordered it with rice which was wild rice, however exceptionally bland. In my opinion for $32 it was a inexcusable letdown. Some small improvements could have made my entire wonderful including adding a little seasoning and oil to the rice and ditching the cheese slices on the salmon for some grated parm. with breadcrumbs. And the plastic and aluminum dishes can go. With the amount of money they spent on decorating for Valentine's Day and the price of the food I would say Misty's does not live up to the hype. I'd also love to see some bread pudding on the dessert menu instead of the heavy emphasis on cheese cake variations. Here's hoping. read more

Come for the steak. Stay for the steak. This place is as old school as it comes, great ambiance, great service. Started off with a sampler platter, recommended are the prime rib bites, artichoke hearts, and the calamari strips; not recommended are the wings and the onion rings (clearly bought frozen). For lunch I have tried both the prime rib and the steak salad. Each was excellent and perfectly cooked to medium rare. Seems like a great place for dinner with the family and also it's located in the Havlock neighborhood which deserves more explanation by me. read more

Usually a pretty good experience, but my October trip was a miss. It was particularly disappointing because I took a friend there after a game to impress them. We beat the crowd and it was not busy. The service started out fine, but continued to degrade the longer we were there. Drinks were fine, order was taken in a timely manner, and then it all fell apart. Bread never came, other people started getting meals before salads, and then we finally got our meal. Since we hadn't gotten any of the "starters" (bread or salad), I asked for one dessert to-go instead of the salads. The server was happy to oblige, and actually brought us two bread puddings. This is my first experience with Misty's bread pudding, and it was sad and dry. I'm not sure if they forgot a sauce, or if they just need to add one. Either way, it was a fitting end to the visit. This place is not what it's cracked up to be. There are far better nice steakhouses in and around Lincoln. And for the price...go-to omaha to have your socks blown off. The sides here are pretty bland and awful. Steaks are not charred outside (more like braised-ew...gray meat)or salted/peppered. Everything is just kinda not good. Not horrid. But not good. I'd rather stay home at this rate...save yourself the trouble and go to 801 in Omaha or Merle's on west O. Opposite ends of the spectrum but both are far more worth it. read more

As we pulled into parking lot we were greeted to a parking lot full of trash, the young Female hostess greeted us with attitude, constantly played w/her long hair, drug her feet when showing us to table & mumbled something we couldn't hear/understand. A Male waiter or busboy stood at our table waiting for me to finish eating so he could take plates to kitchen & not have to make more than 1 trip! Whenever our "Seasoned" Female Waitress brought something to table we said "Thank you" & her response was always "Umm Hmm". Her constant frown did not make us feel welcome. If staff in this location are not happy to have a job & make customers feel welcome then the Owner should replace them w/professional workers. Went to Misty's last night for our kids 21st birthday. Always heard about this place but should have read the reviews before dining there. First off there was no one in the restaurant and it still took 45 minutes to receive our food. When we did receive it our son's T-bone it was severely undercooked with no flavor and tons of fat and gristle. One member of our party ordered a hamburger with bacon and it showed up cold on a hard bun with no bacon. The waitress brought the bacon out cold and raw in a cup. The rest of the meals left much to be desired which is disappointing due to the fact that the place is extremely overpriced. By the end of the night most plates sat with the food left on them and the table was over ran with drink glasses because they never picked one up. The waitress was sweet but was low on product knowledge and really couldn't recommend anything. All in all I was very disappointed and have no desire to ever return. read more

Pleasant surprise in Lincoln recommended to us by the locals at our hotel. The food is great (we had ribs, chicken, and a burger, portions big, and the service is a most excellent example of Nebraska hospitality. The sweet potato fries are awesome! This place is an obvious favorite of the locals as you will witness once you get there. It was also cool to see all the sports memorabilia from Nebraska and professional sports. This place also has an interesting wraparound bar where the bartender is in a pit. They have special seasonings that give many of their foods a unique flavor without being too salty. Oh, and we discovered a fun fact while checking out the football helmets: in the area of the sports memorabilia case, have one person stand on end and you at the other and you can whisper to each other and hear it clearly as if the person is standing next to you. read more

Went to Misty's Havelock for my birthday celebration last Saturday night with my wife and daughter. When our hostess seated us, the Manager told her (for all to hear) she shouldn't have seated us in a booth. We had a new server who was trying hard but needed more training. My ribeye was so heavily seasoned, I had to scrape it off. And, my steak ordered medium-rare was medium-well. And, the asparagus I paid $2 extra for was torched. My wife's scallops were very poorly done. And, when we asked for dessert, we were told that there wasn't any. And, we were given our bill and asked to pay asap. Clearly, they wanted us out. So Misty's, in spite of the fact that my wife and I have spent date night at Misty's for over 40 years, we are now looking for a new date night venue. read more

Stopped by on a Saturday night on our way to a Husker Volleyball game. Mistey's has that traditional old style steakhouse vibe your grandpa liked (dim lighting, dark wood and open grill) and the food and service were great! Good wine selection, both our steaks cooked perfectly, French onion soup was good and the warm bread was nice. Our server was lovely and knew we were headed to the game so made sure we ordered quickly and check dropped as soon as asked but without making us feel rushed. Cold food. Nine people in dining room. Three at the bar and six of us at a lounge table. Birthday bust. Server took five orders then started to walk away. Hello.... there's six of us. Overpriced garbage. Monday night special is blackened prime rib appetizers. They were cold! No kidding, and the sweet potato fries barely room temperature. They took the three prime back to "heat it up" and it looked like m cottage cheese... little tiny what looked like pre-chewed chopped up garbage. SAD My hamburger was okay, warm at least, but the joke of a tomato slice and quarter sized onion slices were only more humiliated by the nickel sized pickles. WTF? Check out the photo. The manager came out at my request and said we gave you new prime what do you want? As in you want it discounted? Free? I said you're not busy and it took forever and it's all Luke warm at best. Sorry to all you Luke's out there. He offered to take the potatoes off the bill or half off the three prime ribs. I said that's not the point, I need you to be aware this all is terrible. His response..... Okay. How about a dessert. Again.... shitty service from a manager or at least someone posing as one. When our 120$ bill arrived there were no I'm sorry about this situation surprise discount. Just a bill. A big long bill. And our otherwise fun server suddenly was cold and indifferent. I am from out of town and I have come to misty's twice as a result of it's proximity to the downtown hotels. I am planning to come back again because of the quality of the burgers. My first time here I ordered a "famous charburger" and I plan to order it every time I come back. It is one of the best burgers I have had featuring thinly sliced ham, cheese and a special sauce. Wow! I'm first? I don't believe it. My husband's family has gone to Misty's Havelock for many years. We come anytime we're in from Phoenix for the amazing Prime Rib. You can cut it with a butter knife it is sooooooooooo smooth. I also love that they have creamy horseradish sauce for me! I start with either the French Onion Soup or the Seafood Bisque. Very good. The service has never been less than impeccable.......but leave plenty of time. This is no In and Out place. This is real food worth waiting for. The interior is dark and old-school........but if you want good beef in Lincoln (or Phoenix!) try Misty's Havelock. You'll be glad you did. read more

Boooo! I've been to Misty's three times now. Once downtown and twice in havelock. My most recent experience was this July 2008. The service was slow and just okay. The restaurant wasn't that busy and I'm not sure why everything seemed to take so long. As for the food, I wasn't impressed at all. My sister had a tasteless salmon dish, my crab claws were overly salty and my clarified butter was not clarified at all. My beer cheese soup wasn't that great, but that was my first experience and maybe that's how it's supposed to be. As for the salad, I'm sorry to say they were the saddest things I've ever seen. Iceburg? with a few pieces of mixed greens and veg? Ewww, it didn't even look fresh. As for everyone else, they ordered beef which would have been the better way to go. I mean it is a steakhouse. The atmosphere at Misty's reminded me of a steakhouse from when I was a little kid, dark with padded leather seats. Fresh baked bread and foil wrapped butter came out first. I ordered Caesar salad, ribeye medium and baked potato. The salad was fresh and crisp the steak cooked to a warm pink center and the baked potato was moist and done throughout. For the reviews I was expecting so much more. I ordered my steak Medium Rare and when it came to me it was lacking any sort of juice or flavor you expect from a $32 steak. I'm going to assume they are frozen. Also my "loaded" baked potato came out cold and hard as a rock. The cheese on top had already solidified and the insides were barely warm. I've had far better steaks from cheaper places, very let down. Our waitress was decent enough, no personality but overall atmosphere and food are no more than 2 stars. Went to Misty's in Havelock tonight for dinner. Have gone there many times. But tonight our T-Bones came smothered in garlic sause and salt. Couldn't even eat it tasted so nasty. Our waitress let the manager know. Her idea was to try to scrape the sause off and recook the steak which only cooked the garlic taste in even more. Still couldn't even eat it! Manager never fixed the problem. Last time I pay $40 for a steak I can't eat. Took it home to our dogs with the bones. Unfortunately, there still licking there butts. Nope That's all I can really say about this place. I have been in many times over the years but I have finally said "Enough is enough!" Service is important to me, and bad service just kills good food. On a recent business lunch we went in around 10:30 and left after 1:15 for lunch. We didn't talk too much or take our time ordering, we knew what we wanted but just couldn't get it in a timely manner. The server never came and offered an explanation as to why 3 sandwiches took over 40 minutes to come out of a kitchen in a half full dining area. I had the prime rib melt and it had NO FLAVOR at all. I grew up on Misty's prime rib. It used to be the best prime rib around hands down. Unfortunately in recent years this has changed. I know COVID has put a strain on everything but even taking that into consideration it has not been a complete service recently or over the past few years. Back to this evening. After we were seated it was 10 minutes until our drink order was taken and another 10 before they were on our table. It was almost a half hour before our food order was taken and then the wait began. Over an hour later our food finally arrived. The prime rib that was ordered medium didn't have an ounce of pink. I ordered a King cut and the three girls ordered the Petite cut. There was absolutely no difference in the portion size at all!!! I couldn't believe it. When I order a King cut there better be some meat there. The baked potatoes were even a miss. After all of that, I asked for a piece of garlic bread and was informed that it would be an additional charge. I said forget it. That is when I decided I will never give Misty's our business again. After that long of a wait with multiple apologies for our food taking so long to prepare that was mediocre at best and you still had to charge for a 5 cent piece of bread. No thanks. We will go to Texas Roadhouse from now on where the quality of food is better and we won't get upcharged on a damn piece of bread. Hell they are more than happy to give a person some bread to go. We live in Omaha, my son & his girlfriend live in Lincoln so we drove down to take them out for the girlfriends birthday dinner. I've driven by for 26 years without stopping in to this historic spot (based on Cornhusker history) so we thought we should give it a try. After all, who doesn't love a great prime rib! WRONG, this place was far below average. The sides were fine, we even had delicious escargot for an appetizer but at the end of the day we came for the prime rib. Was in town passing through and was told to try this place out. I sat in the old school bar which had a cool and historic atmosphere. The bartender was very helpful and let me know that they brew their own beer which I had and enjoyed. I had the ribeye and it was cooked perfectly. One thing is that they are thin steaks so make sure you do not order medium of the will not be any pink left in the middle. I also had the french onion soup which was excellent! First and last time to Misty's Steakhouse Havelock. First off the waitress was great!...The food SUCKED! We will start with the salad, it was a spring mix which is fine, some of it was black, definitely past its prime! We ordered 2 sirloins, and 1 14 oz. Prime rib 7 ounces of which were either gristle or fat. The exterior of the prime rib had great seasoning the inside nothing. The sirloins had no flavor at all, had to send one back due to undercooked. I love Misty's seasoning why are you not using it. The baked potato was as dry as sand, the cheese was like one huge GLOB. The mushrooms on my prime rib had no flavor and were cold, once again where is your famous seasoning? My total for this rotten fathers day dinner was $101.31 I did leave a $20 tip, because it wasn't the waitresses fault. The table next to us ordered crab legs, the steamer broke, the manager did come out and apologize. My new question is why does the manager of an overpriced establishment look like a homeless vagrant... really sweats and a dirty black t shirt.
