Went to Misty's for Mother's Day. We were one of the first groups to arrive. We were able to order quickly and then the server was nowhere to be found. Drinks were left empty, and it took an hour for our food to arrive. It was not even busy. My prime rib sandwich was soggy and contained little of anything. They brough my mom the wrong order, so she had to wait for the correct one. Misty's use to be one of my favorite places, but with large prices increases and decrease in quality, I will not be going back. read more

Apparently this place was THE place in generations past. I met up with an older acquaintance of mine who had been talking this place up and wanted me to try it out. I can tell the establishment's heyday has come and gone. There's nothing special here. The interior is pretty run down, and it seems they keep it dark to try to disguise that fact. If they have the opportunity to invest in some renovations and better lighting, the payoff would be well worth it. Ordered a prime rib sandwich with no bun, because they don't have much of anything to accommodate gluten free dietary needs. The cheese on the prime rib did it no favors, it was kind of congealed and just not a great flavor, didn't complement the meat at all, it would have been much better without. We had a great experience at Misty's. We sat in one of the cool curved booths, makes you remember that Misty's has been in Lincoln for many years. It is the original Lincoln steakhouse. Our drinks were well made and delicious. Our server, Cassie was excellent! She answered our questions and paced our meal so we're didn't feel rushed or like we were waiting. We shared a bowl of the lobster and seafood bisque, there were definitely pieces of lobster, scallop and whole shrimp in the delicious soup. I had the small filet which was tender and cooked to perfection. My husband had the king cut prime rib, tender, tasty and lean. The loaded baked potatoes were also very good. We enjoyed the atmosphere, with scenic Nebraska art in the main dining room and husked memorabilia in the bar area. Food was not good. The crab cakes are thin with what taste like mush on the inside, and remind you more of a Salmon croquette. I ordered the Salmon and it was definitely frozen and it was overcooked. My BF attempted to order the steak but there was a mix up and he ended up getting the lobster mac as a meal vs a side. That, was extremely mushy and bland. Im truly suprised they serve that as a dish. The lobster bisque was decent (a little thicker than normal) and the bread was served warm, but we left completely unsatisfied. Complete disappointment. Ordered the 20oz "Chef Special" ribeye and ended up with a grisly fat hunk of steak that was not edible. Showed it to the waitress who apologized but did nothing. Wow.... Most disappointing meal I have had in a long time. Restaurant was nearly empty but it took 25 minutes to get the appetizer. It was supposed to be shrimp cargot but it was brought out not hot with visible cheese slices on the top (did not even eat it after first bite). The prime rib was flavorless with no au jus or horseradish. The mushrooms were soggy and terrible. The baked potato (loaded) was dry and inedible. Chicken piccata was just awful and tasted of bottled lemon juice and mediocre quality chicken. What a sad state of affairs at this place. They are celebrating 60 years. Should have paid attention to the multiple red flags before I was served my terribly overcooked steak with no flavor. 1. A steakhouse with terrible wine list. A good steakhouse will have a long list of wines to compliment a good steak. 2. Lack of fresh sides. Everything offered was a starch-- nothing fresh was offered. 3. Salad soaked in dressings. We couldn't even eat the lettuce as it was heavy with dressing. 4. Thank goodness my kids ordered chicken with their pasta as it was the only thing they ate. The pasta was terrible. How do you screw up pasta? 5. Overpriced and underserved seafood. "Market Price" for King Crab was $70 per half pound!!!! And, when it was served, there were only two tiny legs. Then it was laughable when they brought out the butter which was movie popcorn oil. 6. Filets were cooked incorrectly. Ordered medium rare and received a piece of well done cardboard. No one asked if my steak was cooked correctly. At that point we just gave up. Our dinner for four was $260 and it was absolutely terrible. I would never recommend this place to anyone. A little worried reading the 3 star ratings, but we gave it a try. Excellent! In my party, we ordered the Prime Rib, Ribeye, French Dip, Strawberry salad and Spin dip. All were cooked correctly and delicious. Almost did not get the sauce for the French Dip's fries (a derivative of honey mustard, I think)- or the dressing that comes with the strawberry salad (poppy seed something), but ended up liking both of those, too. 100% will NOT return to Misty's and I do not recommend anyone go there. We came with a larger group and almost everyone ordered steaks. The steaks showed up and were not cooked consistently, with the same steak being both overdone as well as medium - medium rare in other parts of the steak. I hope this is not the case with a higher priced steak such as what Misty's has, but the only other time I've seen the same steak cooked with so much variance is when I pull a steak out of the freezer and don't give it enough time to fully thaw... on top of that, multiple people out of our group became sick the next day, and that was a fun way to ruin a weekend. With all that being said, I only gave 2 stars instead of 1 because our waitresses were extremely nice and attentive. If you're reading this as you look for a steakhouse in Lincoln... We were on a road trip through Lincoln and had to stop here because my father in law told us he had eaten here 40+ years ago and it was amazing. He didn't lie! The fact that this restaurant is still around all these years later is telling. Loved the retro decor and atmosphere, and smooth jazz playing to set the mood. My husband got the prime rib (king's cut) which I tried as well - such a big portion and the au jus was so savory. Delicious! I got the 7oz filet mignon which was perfect size. It is wrapped in hickory smoked bacon, which I usually am not a fan of but in this case it added just enough unique flavor to the steak to set it apart. The steak itself was cooked perfectly and cut like butter - no chewy or fatty portions that were inedible. There was a subtle peppery seasoning on the steak that was not overpowering - the flavor of the beef still was able to shine. Overall a great experience! read more

The local small town "fancy restaurant". * The prices are high and the food quality is above average, but nothing extraordinary. * It is always loud - too loud to be intimate - and too awkwardly set up for large groups. There always seems to be children screaming. * The wait for food is average, but I highly recommend table reservations. * The restaurant is sports themed. Sometimes a piece of the Nebraska Cornhuskers' band make an appearance for a short performance. From my latest visit: I was in a group of eight about an hour before the busiest time. Our table was given a total of two breads and one butter (the equivalent of three dinner rolls). The rest of the food was a bit cool. I had water and a fork dropped on me by the busser. One of us was not given silverware. We were offered plenty of refills and there seemed to be plenty of staff, so I'm not sure why they were so inept. read more

Visiting family in Lincoln and my sister wanted to go here for dinner. After reading some of the reviews I was a bit anxious but our dinner was wonderful. Granted, decor is a bit dated but that only added to the charm. We were seated promptly. Our server, Alexis, was super nice and attentive. My sister ordered the prime rib and my wife and I ordered ribeyes. Mine asked for mine to be grilled with just salt and pepper and my wife had hers with Misty's spices. A classic Lincoln steak house with some great Husker history. The steaks are some of the best in town, and we always get the lobster seafood bisque, which is delicious. My family loves coming here after home football games! Back in the day, before the NCAA prevented such things, Nebraska football players used to work as waiters on game days. As you can imagine, that was a big hit with local fans. The decor and Husker paraphernalia are best described as 'old school Big 8.' She had the petite and her husband and I had the queen.where to start first I ordered surf and turf with lobster but they were out of lobster. He ordered a pork chop but they were out so he decided on steak. First the servers should be aware of what they are out of so they don't keep coming back. This rating is for the establishment on Havelock. A friend took us to Misty's for a steak dinner while visiting Lincoln. He ate the pasta with shrimp and chicken. The decor was a 70s vibe, not intentional. Dark with wood paneling, etc. Friends and husband ordered vodka/tonic with extra lime, since they did not have a drink menu, waiter said they have a 'stocked bar.' I ordered glass of Chardonnay. Drinks were very good. We started with the Blackened Ribeye app as we were waiting for our friend to join. The app was unremarkable although enjoyed the horseradish cream sauce. Special was a 16 oz ribeye with garlic/butter sauce on top, both guys ordered these with baked potato, one loaded. Steaks were over cooked and potatoes over baked, possibly sitting for awhile then warmed up.(?) Ladies shared the Salmon Chloe, description sounded amazing. Salmon was cooked just right but also looked like it may have been sitting for a bit. Waiter forgot to ask if we wanted rice or potato as the side option so came with neither; had to ask for rice that was promptly served and was tasty. I'll end with the positive, the Lobster Bisque was delicious (wished I had ordered a bowl for my dinner.) The bread served at the table with salads and bisque was very fresh & tasty along with softened butter. Others ordered a brownie cheesecake (name?) and they said it was very good. Our first time at this local spot . Shrimp cocktail appetizer was great. Huge shrimp. The lobster bisque was amazing with seasonings spot on. We had the salmon Chloe which was a grilled salmon with shrimp on top and wild rice pilaf and the Chilean sea bass. Our food was amazing. Prepared well and delicious.
