Please don't use this company. Communication is crap. Once you pay them, the job will not get done. After spending $20k, I thought I'd earned the right to have my job completed when they said they would, but now no one is responding to texts, emails, or phone calls. I don't know how they advertise 24/7. read more

High-pressure sales tactics. Insanely inflated prices. No proof of damage; we were pushed into a $22,000 replacement for a working system. Unresponsive customer service. Insurance coordination promised, but never performed. What started as a high electrical bill revealed that I hired a company charging more than double market rate for electrical work that likely never needed to be performed. We called them for peace of mind after a lightning strike, even though our power was working fine. Their safety advisor claimed our panels were fried, called it an immediate fire hazard, and stated a $22,000 option was the only way to keep us safe. Reassured he would handle our insurance coordination, we authorized the work. In the weeks that followed, I realized what actually happened. Price Gouging: My insurance company valued the work they did at just under $6,000, though mister sparky charged $15000+. Other electrician companies gave quotes in the $10,000 range, and informed us that Mister Sparky regularly marks up their prices significantly past market rate (see price comparison photo). Unrequested Upgrades: Furthermore, the safety advisor explained that he would be replacing like for like to ensure we would receive full reimbursement. Instead, they installed significant upgrades in direct contradiction to what I was verbally told, leading to our insurance company refusing to cover the difference (see attached invoice photos). Lack of insurance coordination, even though it was promised: Despite promising during the initial home visit to act as our liaison, the safety advisor never had a single conversation with our insurance company. He actually told us not to contact our insurance company, claiming we might just end up confusing them, leaving us with $15,000 not covered. Questionable Evidence: They still have not provided the thermal images used to scare us. The system was 100% functional when they arrived, and the photos of the panels show no visible defects. They even pulled internet/data cables out of the box to make it look worse (see the photos of the blue/coax lines--those aren't even electrical cables). Ghosted by Management: Management and the service email have completely stopped responding to emails. When I called to request the salesperson's full name and title, the agent straight up hung up on me. Refund not issued as promised: I was also promised a $309 refund that was never delivered (see invoice page 1). After following up with management and realizing that I had a 3-year service plan attached to my bill unknowingly, the manager agreed that he would remove this charge. I have had zero further communication about this. I wanted to make sure I wasn't crazy, so I looked at some of the other reviews on this page, and it looks like there are a lot of experiences similar to mine. My lessons learned are to get second and third opinions (even in a perceived emergency) and trust your gut if you feel pressured into expensive, unrequested upgrades. Stay clear of Mister Sparky! read more

Do not let this company in your house. Get a second opinion first, every time. One breaker was tripping. Mister Sparky replaced every breaker in both panels of my four year old house and charged me nearly $10,000 for it. The tech told me if I didn't do it all that night, I'd end up rewiring the whole house. Then they tried to add another $4,000 for ground rods and a surge protector. I already had a surge protector. They waived the dispatch fee, then billed emergency rates on every line. A membership fee showed up that nobody mentioned. The tech promised a lifetime warranty that doesn't exist anywhere in their paperwork. Two licensed electricians looked at the job afterward. Both said most of it wasn't needed, and one quoted a bigger job for less than half the price. I took it to the company and was offered nothing. Their whole model is scaring you into saying yes before you understand what you're paying for. read more

Hiring and trusting Mr Sparky turned out to be a huge mistake on my part. It is wise to steer clear of Mister Sparky. Mister Sparky made their sales using scare tactics. Turns out they are primarily profit minded over honest customer service. I am embarrassed by my haste in hiring Mister Sparky. Living in an older house my wife and I agreed to a complete electrical overhaul by Mister Sparky, costing over $20,000. This was suppose to bring my home up to date with a few bells and whistle. One of Mister Sparky's perks are 3 yearly safety inspections. They just completed their first exam and pointed out we need over $7,000 of upgrades. These are services that should have been included in a $20,000 service. It was pointed out Mister Sparky's management has change because of unethical business practices. Not surprising, there has been no response from Mister Sparky. Sounds like nothing has changed. Although I still have two yearly inspections I paid for, Mister Sparky is no longer welcomed in my home. CEO of Mister Sparky is Albert Bustos. Good luck with your work. read more

Absolute SCAM! Dishonest upselling practices and uses City of Austin Code Enforcement as an attempt to manipulate customers into purchasing their recommendations. I live in an old home therefore old electrical work is "grandfathered" into old code until I update. Nick came out to look at my fire alarms (one was defective and kept tripping the alarm) and while they were there they offered to inspect my electrical panels. Nick encouraged me to update my electrical system, but I declined as I have a General Contractor I work with, whom I trust. Because I did not take Nick's suggestion on the expensive upsell, Mister Sparky called Code Enforcement on my home. I had previous electrical work done in 2025 that was permitted through the City of Austin and the permit was approved and closed, so there were no code issues at my home. I ended up having to hire someone else fix my broken fire alarm, because Mister Sparky tried to say it was my full electrical panel box that I needed replaced for that one alarm to work. And so everyone knows - when Code Enforcement arrived they reviewed by previous permits and rolled their eyes after I told them Mister Sparky had been here earlier this week to help with electrical. DON'T EVER USE THEM! They came to my house to replace an outlet, left me with no heat or ac over Christmas. Never hooked back up my generator and replaced an electrician panel they said had to be changed it was dangerous, but it was fine. They are scam artists! They made it seem like my home needed a lot of work, $26, 000 worth, when I'm fact i didn't. Glad they screwed up on the first day and I found out before I spent a fortune. BEWARE!!!!!! read more

I requested service to restore voltage to my hot water heater and paid a 300$ fee for same day emergency service. The tech proceeded to spend 45 minutes drafting up quotes with different options. Each option involved many electrical improvements in addition to restoring hot water. They all involved rebuilding my entire electrical panel. 15,000, 10,000 and 5,000 were my 3 price options. Only after repetitively probing the tech was I finally able to get him to agree to doing the work needed to restore hot water without any extras ($785). This process was extremely frustrating and I felt I was trying to be taken advantage of. I was originally told the panel was a requirement to be rebuilt which I knew was not the case. read more

I had Mister Sparky come out to quote adding an electric plug. They quoted 3 options with the highest price over$20,000. I am glad to have the option to get more quotes from different service companies. This one star review reflects my experience. read more

Terrible experience. I should have checked Yelp before I called them. A simple one outlet connection issue, they didn't do anything but gave me unnecessary quotes starting $1400, with full circuit restoration package. This is ridiculous. I find another technician and solved the issue with $150. They charge $299 for same day service and doesn't fix anything. I would not recommend this company read more

I called Mr. Sparky for an issue causing a degradation of electrical strength in a line. The technician came to the house, and I attempted to show him what the issue was, but he dismissed me and said he would find the problem. A while later, he came to the door and let me know he had three options for me. The first option was $27,000, the second was $21,000, and the third was $14,000. He made it sound like not only was this needed to fix my problem, but if I did not choose one of these options, my house could burst into flames. I chose the third option, believing it was what was needed to fix the issue I called him out for. Mr. Sparky was able to do the work that afternoon, and when I tested to find out if the issue was resolved, I found it was not. The options he provided me had NOTHING to do with the real issue. There was a break in the line, causing the issue. After I let them know that the $14,000 I spent did not fix the problem, they fixed the problem at no extra cost. The problem is that fixing the problem I called them out for would not have cost $14,000. I called Mr. Sparky and complained. The person I spoke to said that he would REVIEW THE AUDIO RECORDING and call me back. I asked about the audio recording because this deal was not done over the phone. He explained to me that THEY RECORD ALL CONVERSATIONS WHEN THEY ARE IN YOUR HOME. According to him, the iPad STARTS RECORDING AUTOMATICALLY WHEN THE TECHNICIAN ENTERS YOUR HOME. He said that this is perfectly legal because in Texas, only one person in a conversation has to agree to being recorded, and the others do not have to be informed they are being recorded. I pointed out to him that the technician left the house and left the iPad with me while I spoke to my wife, so he recorded a private conversation. The representative assured me that the technician stopped the recording before he left the house. He can't prove that, just like I can't prove he didn't stop the recording. After reviewing the recording, he explained to me that the options I was provided had nothing to do with the fix. They were just recommendations for a safety check, and the technician never said the options would fix my problem. The technician had no intention of finding the problem. He was only concerned with sales. I ended up getting a $1,500 refund, which may be what the fix would have cost in the first place. If you call Mr. Sparky, be aware that they are RECORDING ALL YOUR CONVERSATIONS and they are going to try to scare you and sell you packages you do not need. read more

After plowing through about 6 electrical companies just trying to get a "detailed" proposal for about $20,000 in electrical work I finally stumbled across Mr. Sparky. They were out to my house the next day and gave me a very detailed proposal with photos. Their price seemed reasonable and they started on the work a few days later. They finished everything in about two days and their work was excellent. The communication was great during the job as well. I would definitely use them again. read more

Mister Sparky - Electricians Near Me - Austin, Texas

Had a GFCI outlet that needed replacement on a 10 year old house. Sparky quoted 17,000 for something. God knows what. Geez. Had to sift and wait through all the nonsense, but the eventually did replace just the outlet. read more

I went through Angi's list and Mister Sparky was the first to respond. They sent a man out the next morning. I had a GFCI receptacle that had the light on. No breaker reset would fix it. The "salesman" was nice. He came out took several pictures and came in and told me that I had 3 options. One was a whole house surge protection option that would cost $8,400. Option 2 was a surge protection in the main break, wifi and A/C that would cost $ 4,000 and option 3 would be to install a copper surge protection in the main breaker box that would cost $1875. I checked with my son-in-law (who is a master electrician and has his own Biz-but far away) and another Biz owner and they both said the guy was trying to upsell me on a bunch of things that I didn't need (I just needed a new GFCI receptacle). They both said what I have all meets code. I was already going to be out the service call, so I called the company back and told them they I just needed a new receptacle (which wasn't an option that he suggested). They said they could do that and it would cost $230. The 2nd technician (who was actually an electrician who was going to do the work--Will) was very nice. He replaced the receptacle with a new one, tested it and checked everything out and even asked if I wanted him to help move the appliances back to where they had been before I moved them (to make room for the work). I told him no. He was very nice and was efficient. The salesman was also very nice, but I don't appreciate him trying to take advantage of me, because I am not an electrician. This says that I am in San Francisco, but I am in Round Rock, Tx read more

My tenant called Mister Sparky because the garbage disposal stopped working. Their tech said we need $10,024 worth of work according to city recommendations, to make the condo safe from fire. I checked with Austin Energy and Development Services Department, and they said NO, it's not their recommendation. I got a professional inspection from Inspect It Austin just 6 weeks ago, and no electrical problems showed up. As it turned out, we just needed a plumber to unjam the disposal. It appears Mister Sparky wants to replace everything electrical that they can get to, even though it's working perfectly, just to make a lot of money. Totally unprofessional. I would never trust them with anything. read more
