So feeling optimistic l I headed to The Cobbler shop in Orewa. The cobbler tut tutted a little bit, and told me he would 'see what he could do'. My hopes plummeted. A week later I came back and was stoked to see a fully operational pair of shoes, heels n all. He had to do full on surgery apparently so it did set me back $30 (nearly another for whole pair) but I was pleased. My husband made it significantly worse with his attempts to fix it and everyone we talked to said to go to Gemmell's. I saw why immediately! They were absolute miracle workers and so wonderful about everything. They recognized our time crunch with our imminent departure and stepped in and saved the day and the trip for us. He would not believe me even though I showed him the difference in thickness between the original key and the one he cut for me. He charged me for another key which he said would fit. NOW I HAVE 2 KEYS WHICH DON'T FIT!!!! Serves me right for trusting him. It is not worth my time and gas to go through this again. Poor workmanship and terrible service. The only down fall I have with this place is that it isn't located conveniently to me. As it's in a direction I never go in, sometimes it's easier to go elsewhere due to convenience. However when I needed to get two pair of boots fixed, I made the journey to come here as I knew I wasn't going to be charged an arm and a leg, also I would be happy with the result. By the time I discovered this place, my favourite pair of heels was on its last legs! Dr. Shoe managed to re-balance my worn heels and breathe new life into them! He also re-soled my boots and did a fine number on capping a pair of stilettos for me. His work isn't cheap but I'm a big fan of any man who can rescue a damsel's shoes in distress! That's right lads, most modern women don't need rescuing in the traditional sense!
