So after doing some research I discovered Wendy and Tom are trusted to alter clothing for designers, that I thought would be good enough for my $500 pants. These pants were made out of textured fabric and needed taking in on both sides, the legs made skinnier, so it was quite a bit of work. I was so impressed with Wendy and Tom. I went in, put them on, they pinned to how I described I wanted them to be and then when I picked them up in a weeks time, they were done, exactly how I wanted them. Couldn't ask for better than that and I have sent my parents there for alterations too and they were also impressed by the service, great people. Next time you need clothes altered, come here, they do a better job than the others.

Naturally I was curious when a new tailoring and alterations shop opened not far from where I live. Initially I took in a pair of pants that I wasn't too fussed about so it was fine if they were ruined, however when I got them back the work on them was impeccable! And the price was so cheap! I couldn't believe my luck. Next I took in an expensive pair of shorts that I had bought online but were too small when they arrived! I was so upset, so I thought I would ask them if there was anything they could do, she looked at the shorts and said it would be quite difficult but she would try her best. When I got them back? Amazing!!!! She had taken fabric from inside the shorts where it wasn't needed and had totally expanded the waistband! The seam was virtually un-noticeable, and again the job was super cheap! It showed me that you don't have to pay through your nose for a good tailoring job, all you have to do is be brave and try a new place, better yet...try this place!

She was able to do it in the timeframe that I asked - I even showed up early to the first fitting but the dress was hanging up ready to be tried on. She made sure there were allowances for length, sleeve size, how low the neckline sat etc. so that she could fit it perfectly to my body while keeping the style and detailing identical to the dress I wanted copied. I only wanted a dress I already owned in a different colour but it turned out much better than the original! Perfect fit and very flattering because it was made to fit. I find it very expensive, which if fine if you get the perfect end result as you are trusting them with your clothing, but sometimes I didn't get the perfect end result. The last item I got altered here was a pair of pants and they came back too short. This was gutting because they then had to let the hem out to make them a bit longer and they just didn't look right after, not too mention it meant I was without the pants for longer than initially expected. I'm sure the bad experiences I had here aren't regular occurrences as I have had some excellent alterations here, but the bad ones I did have were enough to cause me to look for somewhere else and to be honest I am glad I did as I love my new place.

After buying a ball grown for my 7th form ball I had to do just this. I took my dress down to Mairangi Bay to have the straps tightened slightly and my hem lifted. I shimmied into the dress behind the thick curtain of the dressing room and I slipped into my 5-inch heels. Walking like Bambi, I emerged from the dressing room to take my place in front of the mirror and show the lovely seamstress what I needed adjusted. She agreed with me that my straps needed to be lifted but said she personally preferred the original length of the dress and said that, with my huge heels, it did not need to be taken up. I sure wasn't going to complain, as that was to save me some extra cash! The alterations were done swiftly and immaculately. I always think it's a risk buying something beautiful only to have it hacked at so I was very pleased with the job and the professional finish. Since then I have taken in a few pairs of pants to be hemmed (yes I have ridiculously short legs) and every time I have been very happy with the outcome! Always a good job done at Seams to Sew.

I called and was informed they included everything but would keep and eye out. No Call whatsoever, after 3 weeks I called and of course they found them. No apologies, I just went in, they handed them over, and good bye. To make matters worse, they didn't even do the work on the pocket that was part of the $460. Seriously - avoid this place like the plague, unresponsive, zero customer service, and poor work (if they even do it)

Used for groomsman suit hire. 2 out of 3 were incorrect (size (too small and too short, mismatching…read morejacket colours, makeup stains on the shirts etc). Purchased a Made to measure suit for groom - arrived with no button hole created in pants (so couldn't do them up) pants were much too large (they blamed this on us requesting them a fraction looser on the thighs). Didn't use the Made to measure suit and had to purchase a new suit from barkers the day before our wedding. Company rectified hire suit issues the night before wedding. Company took zero responsibility for the errors, and blamed the customer in stead (accused the men of putting on significant weight in 8 weeks and also had a go at us because their staff had to work on a public holiday to fix the errors they had made - inappropriate on so many levels). With so many measurement issues, I feel they were not measured correctly as the only suit the was correct was the one that was standard sizing. Wouldn't recommend to anyone, especially not for a wedding where high quality is required. Overall experience was poor - negative feedback has been placed after inappropriate response to our complaint. Buyer beware. Website has a slogan of "do it once, do it right"...... yeah right.

They have a While You Wait trouser hem service as well. As well as the clothes repairs they also have a carpet cleaning machine you can hire, apparently its one of the latest models, so if you want to do it yourself for a more thorough clean you can hire it out. All of this topped off with a friendly smile and there's no need to go anywhere else except your local shop.

Girl that helped me initially was really nice but the guy I dealt with regarding the complaint was quite rude. A week later I come back to pick up my skirt and there's literally no difference to the size. It's still big, someone just lazily put elastic in there.. which just made it look worse and didn't change the size at all. Went back and complained. Didn't really trust them to 'fix' it and just wanted a refund. I appreciate that they wanted to fix the lousy job they did but they should have just done a proper job to begin with instead of ripping people off by doing quick lazy jobs, so I didn't trust them to do anything else to the skirt. He tried to offer me only half of my money back...then eventually gave me a proper refund. Not a good experience. Never returning.

I went to get some t-shirts shortened and was initially happy with them. But after wearing them for…read moreabout a week each and putting them through a normal wash once, holes started appearing where the stitches are - some are even large enough to put a finger through. I brought the shirts to another tailor and was told that the holes were due to them using needles that were too large. Furthermore, some of the stitches have come lose and are unraveling. So I have to essentially write-off these t-shirts (which are branded, and not cheap).
