Whilst you won't find me ordering haddock and chips in here on a Monday, I have grabbed dinner here a few times, and it wasn't bad at all. The batter wasn't quite as crispy as I like it, but they do good chips and aren't afraid to slather on the vinegar, which is a-okay by me. The fish cakes are also yummy. I wouldn't touch the battered sausages with a barge pole, but that's just personal taste...they just look soooo greasy! What's dangerous about this place is it's location. If you happen to live at the top of Hanover and walk up Southover St on your way home, chances are by the time you make your way half way up, you'll be hungry. And there you'll find Sea Breeze, conveniently awaiting you're arrival. You could end up eating fish and chips all too often! Haven't the heart to tell them I still think I'm 17. Anyway on arrival it was busy. The young lady serving looked straight at us but didn't come toward us, as we stood by the please wait to be seated sign. Aren't we a compliant lot? We may be over a certain age but it doesn't make us invisible nor compliant for too long. A few staff passed by, still we stood. I decided there goes the tip (it originates as written on boxes on tables in Victorian tea houses - to insure promptness abd if you put a coin in being seated you got served promptly). So we thought beggar this, picked our own table, sat down and the girl we saw on entry brought menus. So 5 star perfect, lightly battered, crispy cod, very good chips and wonderful mushy peas arrived and were enjoyed and all our cares didn't matter a while. All 1st world problems anyway. Crispy batter, sweet and full of flavour. Their chips are traditional, seasonal potatoes and, again, fresh. Their portions are reliably generous. We are never disappointed with our take-a-way and for the price it is fantastic value. We spend around £12 to handsomely feed a family of four. There is a seating area that we have used occasionally. When we have fish and chips else where it very rarely compares.
