Mister Chippy sits right in the middle of the Broadway and serves up no nonsense fish and chips.
I have used these guys a couple of times and they aren't bad. The chips are not greasy and are cooked to order which is always nice. I have never gone for the fish (both times I have been passing on a whim and only had £3 on me), but the fish cake and the battered sausage have gone down well. The sausage may have been a touch greasy, but I guess that is more down to the product than the cooking method etc.
Chips are either £1.50 or £1.80 and I made sure to get a smaller one on my most recent visit as the large size are just too many chips for 1 person. You could easy order to share. They will take telephone orders, if you don't want to wait around while they cook your food, but they do have a television to pass the time if you are having to wait.
I guess that the place is run by a father/son combo and the son is pleasant and will usually take your order, whilst his dad tends to the fryers. Not the best fish hand chips I have ever experienced, but by no means the worst either. read more
