A long standing business usually means that they are doing something right and this is the case for Jupps. They don't try and branch out into Chinese, Indian or other ethnic cuisine and focus 'sole'ly on good old fashion fish and chips. Expect generous portions of chips that are certainly some of the tastiest in town. There are also your expected range of fish from cod to haddock, as well as sausages, saveloy and fish cakes etc. The prices are reasonable and you will always find this place busy. It can be an idea to phone your order through in advance to jump the queue. This is fish and chips done old school, but they consider current saturated fats by using vegetable oil and are happy to grill any fish you order. Once in a while, it is well worth going back to how things used to be done and this is certainly the case with this fish bar. Highhly recommended

The staff are friendly. The chips are tasty and hot, which is all you're looking for in a portion of chips, right? They aren't usually my number one choice, but if I'm passing and the mood strikes, then they are a good bet. They can be busy, so don't wait until you're starving to go.

The chips are not greasy and are cooked to order which is always nice. I have never gone for the fish (both times I have been passing on a whim and only had £3 on me), but the fish cake and the battered sausage have gone down well. The sausage may have been a touch greasy, but I guess that is more down to the product than the cooking method etc. Chips are either £1.50 or £1.80 and I made sure to get a smaller one on my most recent visit as the large size are just too many chips for 1 person. You could easy order to share. They will take telephone orders, if you don't want to wait around while they cook your food, but they do have a television to pass the time if you are having to wait. I guess that the place is run by a father/son combo and the son is pleasant and will usually take your order, whilst his dad tends to the fryers. Not the best fish hand chips I have ever experienced, but by no means the worst either.

The Mayfair Chippy - My to go order was so tasty. Fries could have been crisper but the fish was on point!

The chips were thick-cut, properly salted, and tasted like real chip shop fries instead of frozen fast food fries. The place was completely packed, so I ended up eating on the stairs about a block away, honestly felt like part of the experience. One of those spots that doesn't try to reinvent fish and chips. it just does the classic version better than most places. Would easily go back next time I am in London.

(I heard the non GF version was also excellent.) Platter came with flavorful mushy peas, tartar sauce, and a spicy mayo (or currry for the non GF platter). Chips were large and delicious. Portion was huge, and easily shareable. Delicious!! Service: It was ok. We waited in line for a really long time (more than an hour) but we were checked on from time to time. Once we were seated and ordered, no one really checked in, but we asked if we needed something. Ambiance: Cute outdoor seating. In door seating was okay. Reservations get to go into a back room which seemed nicer. Lovely side street in a crazy busy popular area. It's a solid 4.5 stars for what it is because the food was so good. I'd return. Tip: Make a reservation a couple of weeks in advance, or be prepared to wait...a long time...Or, skip the line to order takeaway and go enjoy your food!
